Neurontin for detox

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin for detox

neurontin

Avatar f tn t remember the names, but I know I read about a few people using Neurontin for detox. They said.....it was amazing how much it helped ! I'm going to see if I can pull up the post.
9704730 tn?1405741284 I was addicted to them for a while and it took at least 30 days for the physical withdrawals to ease up, as far as the neurontin goes my dr tried it on me but I got really sick after a couple doses and had to stop taking it, sorry I couldn't be more help. Hang in there!!
Avatar f tn I was given neurontin and clonidine to finish detoxing after a rapid detox. Rapid detox was horrid and not the way to go, in my opinion. Anyway, you need to get a doctor on board for this, so you get the correct dosage and the correct way to take it. I had a heck of a time with the neurontin. That being said, it did help with the withdrawals, but I would not just take it with out a prescription because it can cause problems. Also, it doesn't work for everyone.
Avatar n tn I read about neurontin and went to my doc and got a script for neurontin AND lyrica. It helped TREMENDOUSLY. I was using so much that i was high off of that and it became yet another substance my body was addicted to. ---- But it helped with the opiate wd. The last time i quit the percs (109 days ago) i stayed on the neurontin for 2 weeks. getting off of it is pretty nasty, you sweat a LOT and have anxiety (do some research on neurontin withdrawal).
Avatar n tn I am currently tapering from 30+ mg methadone and 20_ hydros a day using neurontin and a few hydros for pain. So far so good. Sub was simply too complex for me to deal with....
Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
Avatar f tn I have been on Percocet for 10 years and then was taking Ultram to not have withdrawal but after reading all the horror stories on here about Ultram, I tried the Neurontin. I have been on it for 3 days and no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. I am shocked. I heard it is not addictive either so I'm staying on it for a week or two and then stopping to see if the Perc are out of my system.
Avatar f tn Lyrica has been found useful by some for both pain and anxiety management. Neurontin does similar but with a much higher med amount required. There's somewhat of a mix here as a benzo is often prescribed for restless leg syndrome. Not to prescribe, but you may wish to ask Dr. about low dose Klonopin and Lyrica simultaneously. Best wishes in this! Russ PS 'Cybalta' is another possibility to ask about.
Avatar m tn Seeing my husband go through Sub withdrawal along with reading post from people in the same boat on this forum, I have to guess it's the Suboxone withdrawal causing your depression. I have never seen my husband cry like this in the 25 years I've known him. You have to remember than neurontin also works on your central nervous system, so that right there will also mess your emotions.
Avatar f tn Oops I meant "Hi"
Avatar f tn Hi Lizzy, You will not have any problems stopping the medication at your dose and for the length of time you have taken it. I stopped taking it suddenly after my detox because of the same issues you are having and never had a problem - and my dose was twice yours and I was taking for a much longer period. You should not have a problem.
445838 tn?1205786577 I used them a month or so ago but not for drug detox. I just used them to detox in general. I personally didn't notice any difference after using them for 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn Oh, I meant to tell you thank you for letting me know I do not need to wean off of the neurontin. That is a relief!
Avatar m tn I know they use the Trazadone for sleep during the detox off of other meds. And they use the neurontin for the RLS coming off the drugs. BUT the benzo and the sleeping pill does not seem to be a good mix at all. I do not know you history but I would wonder why such a cocktail of meds to come off of One..And the lexapro is a AD right? So I just do not know why but maybe your Dr knows why?? I wish you the best.
Avatar f tn I have taken neurontin for withdrawals from vicodin and it helped tremendously. I was originally prescribed neurontin for nerve pain due to sciatica but it didn't help with that. I read about it on the net and found it is used in some detox facilities for withdrawals. When taking it the only symptoms I felt were the chills, a tad bit of anxiety, and a little lack of energy. I have went cold turkey in the past without anything and can say that when I used neurontin it made a huge difference.
9704730 tn?1405741284 Gnarly and nursegirl have been around the block and know what there are talking about. The idea with kicking a habit is that you're not very comfortable, that's the tough part everyone talks about. After 4 months I'm still stumbling around and sleep is precious to me. It will take some time. Neurontin, I've been on the whole time since detox. I don't particularly like it. It seems to be the drug of choice for doctors with patients coming in for detox.
Avatar f tn Tonight I went through my medicine cabinet... And threw out anything that was mine. The old prescriptions for random ailments, the neurontin that's dr gave me for my fibromyalgia, any potentially addictive OTC medicines. All that is left is medicine for my kids and my husband, and my vitamins. It was liberating and scary at the same time. Mainly because the neurontin has been helping me sleep. I want to sleep without it even though it's not an addictive drug.
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me Neurontin for my extreme restlessness from withdrawals. I find it to be really helpful. Most of my withdrawals symptoms are shaking, RLS, and the feeling of needing to get out of my skin. The neurontin has stopped that and has even let me sleep. I was wondering if anyone knows more about this medication. I did some reading on it but someone told me that it can cause changes in personality. I asked to pharmacist and he told me that it might cause some mood changes.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed oxycodone 30mg 5x daily, neurontin 400mg 2x day, kadian 30mg 2x day for chronic lyme disease, 4 herniated discs, pinched nerves, & also had partial laminectomy in 2004 L5-S1. I've been taking them so long my tolerance to the meds is so high they do nothing for my pain. I want to stop taking the meds but I can't do the withdraw. I've heard suboxone is used to get off meds and prevent withdraw but I also heard suboxone is addictive too.
Avatar f tn I went from a 2yr hydro habit to ct with little phys symptoms thanks to neurontin. Took it for 3 days and on day 4.
Avatar f tn Hi I detoxed off of heroin with no suboxone or methadone.I used neurontin and a very low dose benzo for the first few days after that my detox was the same or less strenuous as detoxing from oxy.
10996785 tn?1432812977 My anxiety was so over the top in detox they kept upping my Trazodone and Neurontin to the current doses. I have the same heavy head, vertigo and confusion at 61 days as I did at day 3 or 4. I feel I'm not getting any better and it's wearing me down. I really don't know if I can make it. I keep telling myself that it takes time. I just need some relief of these head symptoms. Yea, I'm having another bad night.
9704730 tn?1405741284 Great job 32 days stay strong you will make it I have a personal hate for the trams so its hard for me not to post when I see the word tramadol there is so much support here
Avatar f tn m going to taper myself for this week and jump off at 15 mg. has anyone had experience with neuronitin for opiate detox.
Avatar n tn only way it nuerontin helped me in detox was by helping me sleep...never had rls either...it is a drug prescribed for diabetic nueropathy so interactions with insulin would not be a big factor.....it is a drug that makes the seizure threshold even higher/and is used for seizure patients so i would doubt it would cause someone to have seizures....it is an anti-seizure drug....all drugs have interactions...i do know that lyrica is way more dangerous in the terms of side effects....
