Neurontin and xanax

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin and xanax

neurontin

Avatar f tn Then my medical doc dismissed me from his care, saying I was a drug seeker. That was not true. I had called and asked for Xanax with refills, and Buspar. He saw those calls on my chart and jumped to conclusion. Also told me he doesn't prescribe pain meds. I told him I was not asking for anything but refills on my Xanax. He gave me one bottle of X.and told me to find another Dr. The only one I knew that I could get into see, cannot prescribe Xanax.
Avatar n tn But if you still have anxiety maybe you should switch to klonopin, that what I did. 1200mg neurontin 1mg klonopin 20 mg lexapro, every morning and 600mg neurontin and 1mg klonopin in the eve. Neurontin has shown to be a mood stabilizer and good for anxiety. It helps...
Avatar f tn I have tried multiple meds such as antidepressants and Gabapentin... always have had multiple side effects. Things like heart palpitation's, anziety and vision troubles. I can take xanax and Soma with no problems. My question is "could it be the Armour Thyroid that I take that causes the trouble?" I also have a movement disorder labeled as tremors/non-epileptic seizures which also gets worse with antidepressants.
2033870 tn?1329481339 I have rapid cycling bipolar as well as post traumatic stress disorder. He has me on Xanax for anxiety, Zoloft and Neurontin for mood stabilizer. Can anyone tell me what they think of Neurontin and if it words? I am very intrigued to know if I am on a good medicine or if this isn't good. I don't go back to him for 3 weeks.
Avatar m tn I am now prescribed .5mg xanax 2times a day 20 mg of valium at bed time along with lexapro and trazadone (if needed). I am also prescribed 100mg neurontin 3 times per day in between the xanax to help with withdrawal symptoms. Is this a safe cocktail and is it hard to get off neurontin?
Avatar f tn Lyrica has been found useful by some for both pain and anxiety management. Neurontin does similar but with a much higher med amount required. There's somewhat of a mix here as a benzo is often prescribed for restless leg syndrome. Not to prescribe, but you may wish to ask Dr. about low dose Klonopin and Lyrica simultaneously. Best wishes in this! Russ PS 'Cybalta' is another possibility to ask about.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I am on Lamictal, Neurontin and Klonopin. I have hit a rough patch as of late and have tried numerous BP medications (Depakote, Lithium, Seroquel, Zyprexa, etc, etc) and have had adverse reactions to all of them. And by rough, I mean I have been off of work for three weeks. This is my last resort; my shrink and I are going to have to medicate the h-ll out of me to get back to work.
700212 tn?1240760820 but if its going to help I willtake it...My right leg has alot of nerve damage and deep scar tissue and it bothers me pretty bad...but for some reason they wont prescribe me pain meds that I can just take when Im in pain...they want me to take this one so I have to be on it all the time...I kinda feel like they think Im a drug addict or something and I want to yell at them....its so hard to chase toddlers around when your limping...Im a stay at home mom by the way...
Avatar f tn There are no interactions with those medications. The only thing that I would warn you of is that taking xanax and amitriptyline together may cause some increased sedation.
Avatar m tn As for your question about the Depakote and Neurontin I have no clue.... But please do yourself a favour and cut the pills down with medical supervision... Your body and mind will thank you.... P.S. I know all to well what it's like to be numb It sucks man but you will make it man trust me...
Avatar f tn This is all so interesting and I thank you for sharing. I take Neurontin ONLY at night bc it helps me sleep but I otherwise hate the way the drug makes me feel. It surprises me that it is abused, but that would explain why lyrica is controlled-it must have some abuse potential. The kicker on this all is that I don't have an addictive personality. I allowed myself to become addicted this time, but I'm in my late 40's. If I ever get out of this mess,I'm not going back.
Avatar n tn I have a few hundred gabapentins. i've been taking about 10-12 lortabs per day and maybe 4 (2mg) xanax bars for maybe the past 2 months. if i quit cold turkey and just take the gabapentin (neurontin) will that be enough to help with withdrawals? or should i taper myself down on the vicodin and xanax a little bit, and then do the gaba therapy (i don't want to go in and have ANY doctor do anything)... help...?
1134609 tn?1269272200 That's a reasonable enough dose of Klonopin that withdrawal symptoms would be of concern if you titrated off it too fast but your psychiatrist's titration schedule seems reasonable. Klonopin is an anti-anxiety medication that can have some effect as a mood stabilizer as well. The more important thing is whether the Neurontin will work alone and if it doesn't there are other mood stabilizers that could be added to it. You should speak to your psychiatrist about it.
Avatar f tn s of prednisone three times a day to try to get my flare under control and I take neurontin for pain, although I have to admit it does not help much with the bone pain but helps with the muscle pain. I also take Flexeril three times a day with a xanax to calm the muscles, I have severe spasticity in my hip and I usually get a nice shot of lidocaine in my back everytime I go to the Dr office. It is worth the money for the few hours of relief.
Avatar f tn Google Ativan and ringing in the ears, rondoo. The ringing is a w/d symptom and Ativan, being a short term benzo will keep you in perpetual withdrawal until your next dose. Keep a diary of when the ringing is at it's worst and I will bet it's time for your dose of Ativan. I have severe ringing after coming off Neurontin last Dec, but I had tinnitus to begin, probably from Xanax now that I'm thinking about it, although not to this extent.
Avatar f tn No, not Neurontin or Lyrica. He mentioned Clonazepam because it's longer acting then Xanax but I'm scared....don't need any cognitive impairment. I'm very apprehensive toward taking prescriptions and such but might try the Trazadone this week. Yes, I am depressed/anxious and can't sleep. Feel like a walking zombie nowadays. Had to cut out caffeine and stimulants cause of panic attacks.
Avatar m tn Moreover, I recommend that course of action because you did not mention in your post what strength Xanax you are taking, and for what period of time, as well as list your complete medication profile. It's a complicated issue and one that best be handled by you and your doctor. Please contact your physician and present him or her with your question/s, as well as letting me know what he or she recommends. Best wishes with the taper, as well as continued good health and happiness.
Avatar m tn For fibromyalgia I also take xanax and hydrocodone. Things were at least okay, with pain levels and fibro manifestations to deal with, but nothing like this hell. At first, I reached for anti-dizziness meds, but they aren't really much help, plus they swell my prostate for which I have had two operations for enlargement already.
10996785 tn?1432812977 s agreed to start me on a taper for Neurontin and Trazodone. Finally. I see her again next Tuesday. One question is, am I ready to stop those meds without any help to replace them? I'm still taking Nortriptyline and I wonder if it's causing my malaise. It does cause dry mouth. I don't want to take it anymore either. Am I being to difficult? Lately, worse in the morning, my arms and legs feel real heavy and I can't muster any energy to speak of. My body feels constricted.
Avatar n tn AND EVENTUALLY STARTED REMEDICATING MYSELF TO THE POINT I AM AT NOW AND NEED IMFORMATION ON HOW TO SAFELY TAPER OFF XANAX AND THE VICODEN. AND REHAB OR SEEING A DOCTOR IS NOT AN OPTION NOW. IF I STOP THE VICODEN COLD TURKEY WILL THAT BE DANGEROUS AND WILL I SUFFER SEVERE SIDE EFFECTS. I SERIOUSLY WANT TO BE OFF OF THE XANAX AND VICODEN AS SOON AND AS SAFELY POSSIBLE .ANTISAPATING YOUR REPLY.
1438550 tn?1283974158 ) or Neurontin could be really handy in managing both pain and epilepsy while you could keep the Xanax for acute management. Anyway those are my opinions and should not be perceived as medical advices. Any change in your medication, dosage or schedule must be addressed with a qualified physician.
Avatar m tn spent 2 weeks weening off the Xanax. I have been off the Xanax since Mar. 16th. I am now taking 150mg./day of Zoloft, 1600mg./day Neuronton & 15mg. Remeron at bedtime. How long can I expect these withdrawal symptoms to remain.
1134609 tn?1269272200 And then possibly a benzo as a PRN. But, I have Ativan and Xanax XR in the cupboard and I have taken one of the Xanax and two Ativan over the space of 6 months; all while I was still taking the Celexa.
1551327 tn?1514045867 There is one member who is very familiar with Neurontin. I will message her and see if she ca post to you. Hang in there hun..you are doing the right thing and you took the first step.
Avatar f tn t reccomend one over the other but speak to your psychiatrist about any of these options (or others listed on that site which is clinically accurate). And Klonopin which I take is longer lasting than Xanax and is used more long term as an anti-anxiety medication (among others). If needs be ask for a referral to a mood disorders specialist. There are other options and one should be able to help you.
