Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin and tremor

neurontin

Avatar m tn i am a female 25years old and since the 5th november 2011 i have had a coarse tremor in my right leg. I have had an MRI of my head and spine, Xray of my spine, blood tests and everything has come back normal. all the Doctors and Consultants i have been to see do not seem to know what has been causing the tremor.
Avatar m tn besides that I shake a lot, previously told I have Dystonic tremor, I have had the shakes sinse my teens. The other symptoms are I feel I slur my speech and my mouth/jaw strugles to move as fast as i want it to, mornings are worst. I get tired from talking a lot (however I try to explain this part my speech is just not normal). Normally I swim 1km per day, the last two weeks this is getting very hard to complete.
Avatar n tn I found that Neurontin increased the number of migraines I had and the severity of them, and while I was on Neurontin I had migraines preceded by visual field disturbances--patterns of flickering lights all over the filed of vision of my right eye--that I had never had before the Neurontin and have not had since. My overall experience of Neurontin was not good--it screwed up my calcium/magnesium levels and threw my thyroid and adrenal systems way out of whack.
Avatar f tn Heat indirectly affects my tremor, i say indirectly because heat makes me fatigue more quickly and if i'm fatigued then the tremor is worse, after i've rested and cooled down its back to my normal, unless i over do it too quickly, very circular. lol I've just had a very family orientated and i will say its been a stressful month, though i dont say that very often but its been way over the top in being eventful.
Avatar n tn I've had tinnitus and benign essential tremor for over twenty years and have tried everything both alopathic and alternative. Finally after having a vasectomy and being given an opiate I realized that it calmed the noise in my head and stopped the tremor. Before that I was drinking heavily and my doctor prescribed hydrocodone which was compounded to avoid additives. I took that for about three years.
Avatar m tn However I will try to provide you with some useful information on Benign Essential Tremor (BET) and its treatment. As you mention, propranolol is a commonly used and effective treatment for BET, but can not be used in people with asthma and some other pulmonary problems. Other treatments for BET include primidone, or mysoline. The main side effect is sedation and it can cause allergic reaction in some people.
Avatar f tn The orthopedist was a jerk and I still continued to have numbness, tingling, loss of grip strength, tremor and a searing sensation down my left arm which progressively got worse. I participated in 2 months of physical therapy without improvement. I also developed, what I believe, is trigeminal neuralgia after the injury. They equated all of these injuries to the incident in March, as did I. I was referred to a neurologist for my continuing symptoms.
Avatar n tn Neurontin (aka: gabapentin) is generally used to treat seizures and neuropathic pain. It's most obvious side effect is sedation, and due to what it does to the brain, this effect is virtually unavoidable at therapeutic doses. Other common effects include sleepiness, dizziness, lack of concentration, and reduced reflexes. You can find complete site effect lists on web sites like rxlist.com Neurontin is generally a very safe, well-tolerated med that has few drug interactions.
Avatar n tn Potential side effects are:- Diarrhoea, Dry mouth, Indigestion, Nausea, Vomitting, Abdominal pain, Wind, Appetite changes, Swollen/bleeding gums, Weight gain, High blood pressure, Water retention, Dofficulty breathing, Cough, Sleep disturbance, Headache, Blocked nose, confusion, Depression, Dizziness, Anxiety, Amnesia, Staggering, Hostility, Pins & needles, Flu symtoms, Tremor, Numbness, Impotence, Urinary incontinence, rash, Itching, Low white blood cell count and acne.
Avatar f tn Psychiatric meds makes them worse, especially SSRIs. I tried Neurontin and had success until week 2 when my jerks got stronger so I quit. I feel so left out with this and afraid to get worse. I had one period of a few months when they went away but came back. Other symptoms: Agonizing restlessness, sometimes tremor, stiffness in arms, internal vibrations in left leg that comes and goes (sometimes non existent for a few months), fatique, severe brain fog and so on.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am still trying to find out why i have severe burning pain in my hands, feet, legs, arms, face and even in my ears and throat area. I also have some sort of buzzing, internal tremor with it, muscle cramping and periodic limb movement mostly in toes and fingers, i have had some strange shock like sensations down my spine and muscle weakness when this all began after an accident... but no burning...the burning appeared later... The pain can be disabling...
Avatar f tn Thanks Melly81b:) This has happened to me two days in a row...
444922 tn?1205098764 Hi I've just been told I have essential tremor.... It affects my right arm and leg but to me it's resting tremor because as soon as I hold something or I'm doing stuff it goes away..... I also have very sore and weak legs, my spine hurts and I swear I have a little memory loss.... My neurologist said essential tremor shouldn't cause muscle weaknesses... Is that true?????...... I'm having MRI on the 3rd of April just to rule out ms and other things....
Avatar m tn Frequent neurological side effects of Wellbutrin include tremor. The incidence of tremor is high; roughly 20% of patients reported tremor during clinical trials , compared to about 8% taking a placebo.
Avatar f tn Other medications that have been tried and work include selective beta-blockers (similar to propranolol, but works selectively on more specific receptors, so that lung issues are less of a problem), and neurontin, which is useful but can cause sedation and weight gain Most medication have one side effect or another but in the treatment of BET, they have been successful for most patients.
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist is thinking about it for my anxiety, since nothing is working since a terrible and weird and untreated Paxil withdrawal four years ago. And to the poster, she says it's okay to take with klonopin, if that's any help, since I'm on klonopin and asked her about that.
1011655 tn?1251599945 My heart was beating harder and faster (125 beats/min) and lasted about 20 to 30 min and ended with headache. I had a few of these until I finally got up. This happened only when I exercised regularly during the day. If I stopped exercising for a few days it went away. The surges disappeared and were replaced by a tremor primarily in my chest.
Avatar n tn I have the same concern.. I've been on a generic - Levothyroxine - for ~9 years and have developed a head tremor over the course of the last 2. It's the same sort of tremor my mother has. She was diagnosed and treated 30 years ago and has taken the same generic for 15. My sister has been taking the same thing for as long as I have, but has no tremor.
Avatar f tn I am wondering if others who have been diagnosed with Chiari Malformation have also been previously diagnosed with Essential Tremor? I have had Essential Tremor since I was 12 years old, diagnosed in my 30s and was just diagnosed with Chiari Malformation this year at 53 years old. I also have IBS and have been loosely diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I am suspicious that the Chiari Malformation is the cause of all these other issues, as well as being hereditary.
1221035 tn?1301000508 I am taking a strong dosage of neurontin and I have the same effects as described. I can sit for up to 5-7 minutes before a flow begins. Not sure if it is the neurontin or a pain medication. I have nerve damage and need both medications.
Avatar f tn Yes I became parinoid and and anxious I got off it immediatley and switched to kolonipin which works well for me
1207048 tn?1282174304 I had (probably still do have) a lesion in the right cerebellum. For a year or so, I had action tremor, nystagmus, and vertigo. Action tremor sounds like what you're describing. If I held my hand out straight, with the fingers stretched out, it would shake. Squeezing aerosol cheese on a cracker would cause my hand to shake, and trying to paint a straight line - well, that was out! All my lines had very even tiny little wiggles.
Avatar m tn That is what I call Tweeks, you get tweeked and more pain for about three days to a week. I was on Neurontin and actually have myofascial pain but they thought it may have been a nerve at first. The neurontin didn't do a thing for me. I was on 1200mg/day and it took me two months to get off of it because I got insomnia and had to take benedryl to get off of it and be able to sleep. It is low on side effects except feeling tired and dumb.
