neurontin

Avatar m tn What do you recommend I do to ask my doctor to increase dosages on neurontin and effexor xr for anxiety? Do you recommend to take Seroquel XR and other recommend medications to me sleep at night and to help ith severe anxiety attacks? I need something to knock me out.
9704730 tn?1405741284 Hello I have a question about neurontin. I recently stopped taking tramadol after 13 years. I had a very difficult time doing so. I stopped Dec 6. My doctor put me on neurontin but I think I am now having withdrawal symptoms from neurontin. I have been taking about 900 mg a day since September. It gives me a lot of side effects such as drowsiness and the inability to think quickly.
974371 tn?1424653129 Saw a doctor at Stanford yesterday fir a second opinion. I had been tested by another specialist I had rapid gastric emptying and was put on Prozac and low dose Clonidine. Can't say I noticed much of a difference in lower abdominal pain, bloating, stomach pain and nausea. This specialist didn't feel the emptying was that bad and wants to treat me for IBS with this drug plus Activia and Lactulose (prebiotic) but it says laxative and I am not really constipated.
Avatar f tn statement. Once I started taking Inderal, Baclofen and Neurontin, I started having really weird dreams, the ones that you remember. Many times they involve people I know but they are doing weird things and the surroundings are surreal. Its a big disturbing, especially that I don't normally dream at all. Like last night I dreamed one of my friends was sitting on the side of the highway counting only green frogs with yellow stripes.
Avatar m tn I think kaylee2850 gave some good advice but I see it a little different. I don't believe you can compare cases of PTSD. The one constant is the effects, such as anxiety, anger, depression, etc. What may be traumatic to one person might not be all that traumatic to another. The cause of PTSD is what is different and it can be any event that one takes as traumatic. For instance, I've been diagnosed with PTSD and a sudden loud noise really gets to me.
Avatar m tn Thanks. Yes, I have had neurontin offered once, but I forgot about it. That's something I actually haven't tried. If tolerated it would probably help. I am just on so many benzodiazepines, that I'd like to taper off at least half of them before trying another GABA drug. Benzos saved me, but their efficacy now is questionable when sticking to my regular dose.
591546 tn?1244636545 I was wondering last week I was Dx with PTSD and also about 6 mo ago Dx with fibromyalgia are the two connected? I am also scheduled for EMDR treatments and on lexaprol and lyrica. what has anyone found to be the best meds for PTSD??
Avatar f tn I am very happy and sober today. I still have PTSD and guess I always will but just feel like I do not have time for my flashbacks etc anymore. I have much more control over my anxiety today that it is almost a non-issue. I sleep through the nights again. My message is that things will get much much better in time. Every person has their own time schedule so be patient with yourself.
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist is thinking about it for my anxiety, since nothing is working since a terrible and weird and untreated Paxil withdrawal four years ago. And to the poster, she says it's okay to take with klonopin, if that's any help, since I'm on klonopin and asked her about that.
Avatar m tn ll see our addiction specalist and see if she is in the buisness of flushing my system because my dr put me on oxycodone 10mg and that dosent feel like its working. im also on colonidine and neurontin with zolpiedium to sleep at night which isnt working.I still have restlessness very bad restlessness and had it ever since i came down the patch.Stomach feels sick all the time My aches and pains after the surguries are nothing compaired to coming offthis drug.
Avatar n tn New Dr put me In hospital for 3 days and took away Xanax and added vistaril 25mg 3 times day, neurontin 300mg @ bedtime, trazodone 100mg @ bedtime and up dose to 90mg cymbalta. Getting worse so saw Dr. and up dose on trazodone and vistaril. Still not better up dose on Geodon. Still worse with bad panic attacks, tardive dyskinesia, anger and rage, hot as fire most time. Can't take no more. And hallucinations. Dr. Said Xanax would make me worse(but helped) for years.
Avatar n tn I have severe major depression and PTSD, I am 54 started when I was five.
Avatar f tn I was the victim of an aggravated assault and shortly afterward my house was literally hit by lightening. My doctor put me on Lexapro and it worked for the PTSD anxiety, but I gained a surreal amount of weight. I have friends who were being treated, not for PTSD, but for depression, and they shared that they were having success with Welbutrin. Can anyone address whether it works for PTSD as well?
Avatar m tn I want to know if it true that you only learn to control your PTSD somewhat but you don;t get rid of it. I've had it for 43 years and two and half years ago it got worse..(Vietnam PTSD) on meds and regular psychological counseling?
1221035 tn?1301000508 I am taking a strong dosage of neurontin and I have the same effects as described. I can sit for up to 5-7 minutes before a flow begins. Not sure if it is the neurontin or a pain medication. I have nerve damage and need both medications.
Avatar f tn Yes I became parinoid and and anxious I got off it immediatley and switched to kolonipin which works well for me
Avatar n tn Now, here is the question, his psychologist talked to me today about beleiving that he has PTSD due to his long and very painfull hospital stay, combined with the inablity to understand what was happening at his age. Have any of you heard of anything like this as being valid? It has been a horrible 3 years for all of us who love him and especially for him. Any suggestions welcome....thank you so much....
Avatar m tn That is what I call Tweeks, you get tweeked and more pain for about three days to a week. I was on Neurontin and actually have myofascial pain but they thought it may have been a nerve at first. The neurontin didn't do a thing for me. I was on 1200mg/day and it took me two months to get off of it because I got insomnia and had to take benedryl to get off of it and be able to sleep. It is low on side effects except feeling tired and dumb.
630344 tn?1280104983 I'm taking the generic form, just recently resumed but have used it in the past. Neurontin is Rx-ed for nerve pain as an "off label" use, that it, treating nerve pain is not the function for which it was designed so it's not listed as a use on the manufacturer's label. It is actually an anti-seizure med, but it was found to also reduce neuropathy in patients. It is my understanding that Lyrica works much in the same way, and is a newer medication by the same company.
1207048 tn?1282174304 The problem many people have with Neurontin and meds like it is they start at two high a dose and increase too fast. That maximizes the sides effects and they stop it, when it might have worked wonders. Then it goes on their *bleep* list. Neurontin is not used for sleep unless the problem with sleep is with neuroapthic pain or paresthesias. We had a pain management doc visit us a while back and he wrote a couple Health Pages for us. You might be interested in both.
Avatar f tn I have been on Neurontin (Gabapentin) for 7 years and recently the pressure in my eyes is high and it's possible the drug has caused this. My pupils react slowly to changes in light and my left one is always bigger than the right. I have extremely bad neuropathic pain all over my body and I have tried many other drugs but none work that well and I am not sure what happens next.
Avatar f tn I was given some sample bottles to try, but after reading the possible side effects and the possible effects from stopping its use, I decided to try some other ways of dealing with my neuropathy.
700212 tn?1240760820 but if its going to help I willtake it...My right leg has alot of nerve damage and deep scar tissue and it bothers me pretty bad...but for some reason they wont prescribe me pain meds that I can just take when Im in pain...they want me to take this one so I have to be on it all the time...I kinda feel like they think Im a drug addict or something and I want to yell at them....its so hard to chase toddlers around when your limping...Im a stay at home mom by the way...
Avatar f tn This is all so interesting and I thank you for sharing. I take Neurontin ONLY at night bc it helps me sleep but I otherwise hate the way the drug makes me feel. It surprises me that it is abused, but that would explain why lyrica is controlled-it must have some abuse potential. The kicker on this all is that I don't have an addictive personality. I allowed myself to become addicted this time, but I'm in my late 40's. If I ever get out of this mess,I'm not going back.
