Avatar f tn Well, I finally got my prescription filled and it is Neurontin. has anyone taken this?? I looked it up, but would love to hear from anyone who has taken it before I take it tonight. Reading about it kind of freaked me out....
337492 tn?1212458836 I started on 300mg of neurontin for bipolar disorder a week ago and was aware that another benefit is it would help with my migraines. I also take 500mg of magnesium for my headaches but I space it out so that it will not conflict with the neurontin. I had the strangest migraine last night and my aura was different and I have not suffered a headache for several months, last time being caused by Lamictil.
Avatar n tn I am experenced in all areas and more. I used neurontin many years ago, and had no ill effects. I am on 18 different prescriptions a day for heart, diabetes, asthma, emphasema, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, a back that spasms so badly the muscle sticks out over an inch.....oh well etc etc etc....don't just say don't take it....
Avatar f tn Common side effects of gabapentin include dizziness, somnolence, fatigue, fluid retention, nausea and vomiting. Take as prescribed and check with your doctor if you have any side effects. Take care and do keep us posted.
1490607 tn?1288379690 Has any one heard of or experienced being on Cymbalta and/or Neurontin and where the side effects suddenly became MS like symptoms after being on them for a year?
Avatar f tn Spinal tap last Wednesday and that night, again severe headache, nausea, and vomiting. We were admitted to the hospital and given IV decadron, depakote, compazine, toradol, and Benadryl. She started to feel a little better, but we decided with the neurologist to do a cranial nerve block. After our discharge, we have continued with nausea, vomiting all weekend. We did increase her topamax to 50 mg and this is a side effect of this drug. We are truly at a loss and feel helpless.
217229 tn?1192762404 Hi there, okay I have taken Neurontin and Cymbalta together. Neurontin is similar to Lyrica, but is a lot cheaper. I could not tolerate the Cymbalta at all. It made me sick with vertigo, nausea, and it didn't help with the pain. I was prescribed this when they first thought I had fibromyalgia and then later found out it was Still's. I have friends that take Lyrica, a lot of them are on the MS forum here and they had little luck with the med itself.
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist is thinking about it for my anxiety, since nothing is working since a terrible and weird and untreated Paxil withdrawal four years ago. And to the poster, she says it's okay to take with klonopin, if that's any help, since I'm on klonopin and asked her about that.
Avatar f tn I am 17 years old and I have been taking Neurontin for 3 or 4 months, I take 9 300mg pills a day for chronic nerve pain in my leg that I have had for five years. Previously I was taking lyrica. Lyrica seemed to affect my vision so I switched to Neurontin. I feel like I am in a blur everyday and all the events meld together, also when I work or go to school I feel like I am working through a fog. I am wondering if people take this kind of medication for years?
Avatar f tn He is on Oxycodeon and a fenyl patch neither which completly releieve the pain and nothing relieves the nausea he is taking phenegren for that. But he has constant nausea and vomiting he had been holding his weight at 220 he is 6'1 but since the beginning of November has dropped down to 188. The doctors are at a loss since the MRI and CT and Bones scans all came back clear. He has also been to see a dentist and nothing tooth or jaw related.
420469 tn?1217647363 For the last 3 or so weeks I have been having this pain/discomfort in the rib area. The severity fluxuates, sometimes being mildly annoying and tight, and sometimes making me feel sick, and bringing me to the verge of tears. It's always in the same place, bottom of the rib cage, on the left and right side, front and back. Anyway, here's my dilemma... I'm off my neurontin because without a dose increase I suddenly started getting wicked vertigo from the pills (after 2.
9246447 tn?1402597019 I have been unable to eat more than 500 calories in a day for the past 4 days. If I eat more than that I get nausea and vomit. I have lost 6 lbs in the past 2 to 3 days and it still continues. I also have chronic fatigue. I am tired all the time. Not sure if it's related to the loss of appetite but it could be. I also have headache's, probably from loss of appetite, and dizzy spells. I am on four different medications that could be having some effect.
Avatar n tn I had a liver transplant 3 years ago and now I itch all over its a deep itch and have white places all over my arms and legs and getting worse if anyone knows what to do or what it is please let me know its unbearable....
681148 tn?1437661591 Well, since I experience plenty of neuropathy, but I also clearly have medication allergies and sensitivities, we decided that I would try again with the Neurontin but on a really low dose of 100 mg, rather than starting at the usual 300 mg dose. As far as the neuropathy goes, 100 mg seems to be enough for that. My pharmacist told me something important about Neurontin that I thought was important enough to share with everyone.
Avatar n tn I was under the impression you did not need to taper off Lyrica though you definitely had to taper of Neurontin. I've been on both (and side effects from both prevented me from staying on them.) I can't remember what the taper was for the Neurontin but the Lyrica we just stopped. But it could be the dose I was on. I'd definitely ask your doctor or pharmacist. (Or maybe both.
1221035 tn?1301000508 I am taking a strong dosage of neurontin and I have the same effects as described. I can sit for up to 5-7 minutes before a flow begins. Not sure if it is the neurontin or a pain medication. I have nerve damage and need both medications.
Avatar f tn Yes I became parinoid and and anxious I got off it immediatley and switched to kolonipin which works well for me
Avatar n tn Hi. I was diagnosed with ATN 14 years ago. The pain has been well-controlled with neurontin until 3 weeks ago. I had an exacerbation of pain, most likely brought on by dental work. The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now.
Avatar m tn That is what I call Tweeks, you get tweeked and more pain for about three days to a week. I was on Neurontin and actually have myofascial pain but they thought it may have been a nerve at first. The neurontin didn't do a thing for me. I was on 1200mg/day and it took me two months to get off of it because I got insomnia and had to take benedryl to get off of it and be able to sleep. It is low on side effects except feeling tired and dumb.
630344 tn?1280104983 I'm taking the generic form, just recently resumed but have used it in the past. Neurontin is Rx-ed for nerve pain as an "off label" use, that it, treating nerve pain is not the function for which it was designed so it's not listed as a use on the manufacturer's label. It is actually an anti-seizure med, but it was found to also reduce neuropathy in patients. It is my understanding that Lyrica works much in the same way, and is a newer medication by the same company.
