Neurontin and flexeril

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin and flexeril

neurontin

Avatar m tn Flexeril and soma are both muscle relaxers....doesn't seem as if teking both each day would be of any benefit...flexeril is the safer of the two as far as addiction....there are some warnings posted as far as anti-depressents and some of the aminos...I was on lexapro (anti-depressent) during detox...nuerontin, I also take flexeril rarely but it can help you sleep..I followed the recipe without difficulty...
1943759 tn?1324045251 I wouldn't recommend opioid medication for your husband since he is a driver. He has a commercial driver's license, right? If so, the requirements to maintain that license is strict and they don't allow commercial drivers to be under the influence of any medications that may impair his driving. If he is at home for a couple of days, he could try to take prescribed opioid medications during that period of time when he is not driving.
Avatar m tn Flexeril is a muscle relaxant, not a medication for nerve pain.
Avatar f tn Hi Sweetie, I know I haven't talked to you before, but I would like to say hi and give you some advice about joint and muscle pain. I am sorry you are having these problems, I feel for you. I have Stills disease which is a arthritis kind of like rheumatoid arthritis, it is very painful. Do your joints become hot, warm, red, swollen or tender? Are you running any kind of fever? Do you have any rashes? Are both of the legs or arms affected or just one side? Have you tried naproxen?
Avatar n tn ve been on neurontin for many years and I also take a muscle relaxer at times but its not tizadine its flexeril....
574423 tn?1258658571 i see my neuro next week and am hoping to increase my flexeril. i just started with the vit d, and have read that it helps a lot with pain. thoughts?
1415174 tn?1453243103 I was taking flexeril for a while but not everyday. I mostly took it when I went to sleep to help me sleep better. When I stopped it, I did have trouble falling asleep but that's not out of the norm for me. I've never taken a muscle relaxer during the day because they just make me tired. I've taken soma and robaxin as well as flexeril and they all do the same thing. I've never had a problem stopping any of those and I've never tapered down.
172023 tn?1334672284 If you are a self pay patient, you know how expensive Neurontin (gabapentin) is. My dosage is 600mg twice a day. CVS wanted $218 for a thirty day supply (60 tablets, 600mg each). Walmart wanted $110. But get this...the curious pharmacy tech looked up the price of 300mg capsules....$13 for a thirty day supply, 300mg, two capsules twice a day (equals one 600mg tab taken twice a day). Can you freaking believe that???? $110 for the 600mg, $13 for 300mg.
2932946 tn?1344722012 I was taking soma, however I informed the doctor that I was feeling to grogy and miserable when I would wake in the morning. I to am allergic to flexeril so my specialist put me on 20mg lioresal ( generic name baclofen) taken one per night. Also I have found that taking 600mg neurontin (generic name gabapentin) three times per day help make the pain a little more tolerable. Everyone is different and you will soon find a regimen that works for you.
Avatar f tn Neurontin, Lyrica for the nerve pain, and Baclophen or Flexeril for the muscle spasms. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn So I got a call back from my Neuro's office this morning and I am realizing that I always tend to leave her office feeling either irritated or confused and I didn't feel any different after that phone call. She said to back off on my Neurontin because of the muscle weakness. I asked "but then what I am supposed to do about the nerve pain?
Avatar f tn My neuro is ridiculously conservative. I had left side pain and muscle spasms so bad that I basically didn't sleep for a year. She prescribed flexeril and Naproxen (prescription strength Aleve). She might as well have given me tic-tacs. I got a little relief but not really. She finally tried me on Baclofen, but I couldn't handle it. I am not on flexeril and neurontin and it has mad a difference.
Avatar f tn ve never taken Lyrica but I have taken Neurontin and their similar and everybody has a problem with weight gain, its not just you. Tell that Doctor you need help, if he won't help you, find another one.
Avatar f tn After a few years on Flexeril I was recently switched to Baclofen. It seems like Bacofen is the go-to drug for MS related spasicity. The wanted me to start out on 1/2 does for 7 days and go to the full dose after that. I made it three days on the 1/2 dose and couldn't take it anymore. Since it takes a while to get to therapeutic levels I was kept awake all night with TERRIBLE spasms, worse than usual, I had muscle weakness and I was puking my brains out.
9704730 tn?1405741284 I am planning on going off the remainder next week but I am afraid that I have been on it so long that the withdrawal could be harmful. I have buspar to help the anxiety, flexeril for the muscle issues, and neurontin. Is it safe to withdraw at home?
Avatar m tn That is what I call Tweeks, you get tweeked and more pain for about three days to a week. I was on Neurontin and actually have myofascial pain but they thought it may have been a nerve at first. The neurontin didn't do a thing for me. I was on 1200mg/day and it took me two months to get off of it because I got insomnia and had to take benedryl to get off of it and be able to sleep. It is low on side effects except feeling tired and dumb.
Avatar f tn have you tried neurontin? sometimes baclofen and neurontin together do the trick, at least they work for me!
Avatar f tn read our forums and health pages for tips on doing that. The Neurotin and Flexeril taken as prescribed should assist you with nerve pain and to relax your muscles and I'm sure your scripts have dosage instructions on them. But, with no opiates in your system....w/drawal symptoms are inevitable to some degree. One last thought.....when we initially go off pain medication.....we have what is called "rebound pain".....it will increase for a bit......
Avatar m tn Flexeril is a muscle relaxer and it is possible to become dependent on them. They aren't known to be highly addictive but anything is possible if taken for an extended period of time. When you weren't able to sleep did you also not take your dose of neurontin? I was prescribed neurontin for sciatic pain and I could see where missing a dose of it could also keep one from falling asleep.
Avatar n tn I am experenced in all areas and more. I used neurontin many years ago, and had no ill effects. I use cymbalta now for diabetec neuropathy....When you are in trememdous pain, and terrible health you will take anything they give you. I am on 18 different prescriptions a day for heart, diabetes, asthma, emphasema, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, a back that spasms so badly the muscle sticks out over an inch.....oh well etc etc etc....don't just say don't take it....
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been on Percocet 10/325 along with Neurontin, Flexeril, Valium for about a decade. I was switched to 75 MCG Fentanyl patch 2 weeks ago. Valium was stopped 3 weeks ago. The 1st week I could not sleep at all. Drowsy, though. Shaky, cold. My doctor said it was withdrawal. Now at week 2, I sleep about 2 hours, very shaky, freezing cold, (I never get cold) Absolutely miserable BUT have great pain relief. Must stay in bed.
Avatar m tn See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness (it is the very best treatment for RLS or RAS), Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter. The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months.
1142551 tn?1264736930 m not on any DMD yet. I take Gabapentin/Neurontin, Lisinopril and Atenolol, Imdur (a nitro therapy for my heart), Crestor (for cholesterol), Flexeril, and I take Vicodin when I'm in pain. That's about it. I've wondered if this "cold sweat" thing has anything to do with MS too!
Avatar m tn I have hashimotos By the way. I am asking because i am hanving jaw tension and pain now and want to take the flexeril but i am afraid it might trigger my hyop tyroidism.
1460652 tn?1340248730 then i was involved in a car accident and was prescribed flexeril 7 days ago. the palps started 30 mins after the first pill. i just thought it was stress from the accident and "oh great, the skips are back"...until they became debilitating, and my bp dropped to 90/50, where as it is usually 115/75.i went to the dr. AGAIN and he said to go see a cardioloist AGAIN.
Avatar f tn steroid infusions have helped me with TN and occipital neuralgia. I take lyrica (300 mg) and gabapentin (900 mg) both, with percocet for breakthrough pain. I'm also exploring acupuncture as a treatment, though this is very new. My biggest problem with the anti-seizure drugs is that I feel like my body acclimates to them pretty quickly, so I'm constantly upping the dosage. Sorry to hear about your pain. I know how you feel.
Avatar m tn My big fear is epilepsy Oxy use to make me shake and bite my tongue but since i been on 200mg Lamictal it has stopped I read Flexeril may cause seizure but then I also read the opposite. Even if I am not epileptic I like to play it safe as my Doc is out, and the pharmacy worker never seems to know anything. So does Flexeril increase seizure risk or is that just for (diagnosed) epileptics? I don't want to add it to the oxy and have a attack.
Avatar f tn See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep and Klonopin which will be helpful for sleeplessness and anxiety. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter. The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months.
