neurontin

Avatar m tn As for your question about the Depakote and Neurontin I have no clue.... But please do yourself a favour and cut the pills down with medical supervision... Your body and mind will thank you.... P.S. I know all to well what it's like to be numb It sucks man but you will make it man trust me...
Avatar n tn I have had and reacted to Depakote, Neurontin, Lyrica, and Topamax. The Lyrica and Neurontin was originally for nerve pain and the Depakote and Topamax were for migraines.
Avatar m tn t seem to be working for me, and though she has no idea how to deal with my unusual situation, she was inclined to try either Neurontin/Gabapentin or Depakote. I was pretty taken aback, and we ended with me going to 40mg of Celexa until I see her next month. I've heard a lot that gabapentin and like meds often cause more anxiety, and I admit knowing nothing about Depakote because my issue has never called for an anti-psychotic. So, folks, any thoughts here?
1134609 tn?1269272200 I also had to emphasize that I am stable on a BP front, just dealing with some anxiety caused by the adaptation to Neurontin. She upped the Neurontin and everything went well. She tried to pin the anxiety on the Lamictal initially, even after I told her that the Neurontin was the cause. When I adapt, each dose causes me anxiety and I feel it pretty quickly after I take it. So, it's all good on that front.
Avatar f tn When you're dealing with ACs like Depakote and Neurontin, the weight gain can be attributed to the increase in appetite and not necessarily metabolic issue. I had a shrink that wouldn't give me Neurontin, even though it's a GREAT mood stabilizer for me because he felt the weight gain was going to be an issue. I am on a good size dose of it now and have actually lost 60lbs. It does boost my appetite, but I just adhere to the 'put the fork down' diet.
Avatar f tn Is anyone taking both Depakote, Lamictal and Geodon? I feel very unemotional and blah still, and my doctor doesn't know what to do. I'm sort of at my last resort with this. I was under the impression that Depakote and Lamictal do the same thing, so why would I be on both when it's not helping? Any answers would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I had a few seziure 7months ago after a stopped taking a few medications without Drs advice anyway I was put on Depakote and started off well. I now am having side effects and I am thinking of asking the doc to switch to neurontin , I have taken it before for yrs with no side effects . Has anyone had any luck with this . I am afraid it won't control sezuires . New to this and very scared!!
2033870 tn?1329481339 I have rapid cycling bipolar as well as post traumatic stress disorder. He has me on Xanax for anxiety, Zoloft and Neurontin for mood stabilizer. Can anyone tell me what they think of Neurontin and if it words? I am very intrigued to know if I am on a good medicine or if this isn't good. I don't go back to him for 3 weeks.
Avatar m tn I suffer from constant pain - pain specialists here have tried injections - burning the nerve, botox and every possible drug - Lyrica, indomethacin, neurontin, dilantin, elavil - opiates make it worse (trileptal was the only one that helped but lowered my sodium to 118 within 48 hours at just 300 mgs a day) 3 neurologists have suggested just living life out on klonopin but i refuse (high gaba covers the pain - ironic - depakote and tomomax make it worse.
Avatar f tn Ryan, you've got me scared, too. I've been on klonopin for more years than I can remember. I've never had to increase my dose; in fact I decreased it by half when I was on Paxil to reduce sedation, and nothing happened. When the Paxil creamed me when I went off it, I upped the klonopin back to the original 1mg twice a day, and no psychiatrist has wanted me to come off it.
497950 tn?1255863927 m on Zoloft and Depakote - I still cycle but not as badly - I feel like a fat whale and have gained about 5 lbs (not that much really) I really liked how Lexapro and Depakote improved my sleep and lowered my blood sugar readings (I am also diabetic) but one dosage of the Lexapro gave me dysphoric mania and that is not good and a higher dosage gave me "pure" mania and I couldn't sleep and was quite crude SO.... Hope all goes well...
Avatar f tn (sorry I know I spelled them all wrong) but oh well.. I take depakote now and have for a long time now.. But due to the side effects of that like the weight control issuess, liver, and birth defects it can cause I want to go off but nervous as I have not had a seizure in more then a decade now and hesitant to chance it, just don't like the side effects of depakote!!!!
Avatar n tn 2 @ bedtime) comb/w klonopin 1 mg (1 tab 2x daily) comb/w Zyprexa 5 mg (1 tab 2x daily) This combination seemed over the top and precipitated some manic behavior. All of this medication was removed and Depakote 250 mg (1 tab 3x daily) was issued as it's replacement. Im probably borderline in some capacity with a touch of seasonal affective disorder.
Avatar f tn If you were crazy enough that a few beers would make you go nuts you would be on a stronger does of Depakote and/or you would be an alcholic in which case the Depakote and beer isn't the issue..
72351 tn?1281992542 after my manic episode and because of carbohydrate cravings. i was switched to Depakote ER when it became available and my weight stablized (though i haven't lost any weight) but, my hair is wonderful and thick, and i receive compliments. your MD should switch you to the non-generic, as ER doesn't come in generic form. this is expensive though. if you can't afford the ER then remember the hair loss will stop. though losing my hair was devastating. good luck!
Avatar n tn I DESPERATELY WANNA GET PREGNANT AND THEREFORE, NEED TO WEAN OFF ALL MY MEDS... I NEED HELP TO WEAN OFF... I AM CURRENTLY TAKING DEPAKOTE 500MG, LEXAPRO 20MG/DAY, TRAZADONE 300MG @NIGHT, AMBIEN 10MG (WHICH I'VE STARTED SPLITTING IN 1/2). NEURONTIN 600MG 4X A DAY... I ALSO TAKE ROBAXIN & BACLOFEN ALMOST EVERY DAY... FENTANYL PATCH 12 MCG/DAY (WHICH I MAY NEED TO GO INPATIENT FOR. SO I'M MORE CONCERNED WITH THE PSYCH MEDS) THANK YOU IN ADVANCE...
458072 tn?1291415186 As long as you're not on certain antidepressant or seizure medications (Depakote), or pain meds like Neurontin or Lyrica... Try Valerian Root for sleep. It's natural, little capsule, may smell a bit funny, but is AMAZING for restful non-groggy sleep.
Avatar f tn I have seen several different anticonvulsants used in BP, My daughter has been on Lamictal 200mg and it seems to work well. I have seen Depakote(valproate), tegretol, ect used. It is becoming a pretty common practice.
974371 tn?1424653129 I was taking 3 10/325norco a day for my severe ibs and fibromialgia and my doctor took me off cold turkey tomorrow and gave me depakote and clonidine for withdrawal symptoms! Im so scared! The Norco does help. .. I wish someone would give me any advice! I also suffering from ptsd. ..
Avatar f tn I had been on different preventative meds for headaches (nortryptyline, depakote, lyrica, topomax) for 5 yrs but stopped due to side effects. I have not tried neurontin and was prescribed this by my family physician. I am nervous about taking it because I really experience side effects from anti-serizure drugs. Is this a good drugs for my problems? Can you suggest anything else I could do? A Pain Management dr that I went to suggested facet joint injections.
Avatar m tn METHADONE (30 mg a day), NEURONTIN (2400mg a day), DEPAKOTE (750mg a day), KLONOPIN (0.25mg a day), and AMBIEN (10mg a day). Thank you and God Bless!
Avatar m tn Couldn't say which is best to use but Lamictal was the most effective for me as well as other people and generally used more than the others. Trileptal unlike Tegretol (which its clinically similar to) does not require a blood test. Neurontin and Topomax don't but they are generally used as adjuncts. I was not able to tolerate Keppra because of personality changes and its not used often for this exact reason.
Avatar f tn s what you were speaking about. I was prescribed Neurontin at the same time as Lamictal and I believe I was told by my psychopharmocologist that one enhances the effect of the other. Obviously that would be something to speak to your psychiatrist about but they would be the ones to prescribe it regardless.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I currently on Lamictal, Neurontin, and Klonopin. However, there has been discussion of weaning off of the latter medications and adding a mood stabilizer to the mix. However, I am very sensitive to medication; Seroquel kicked me into a manic episode. Given this fact, what are some of the effective mood stabilizers for mania? What are some of your experiences with said stabilizers?
Avatar f tn Spinal tap last Wednesday and that night, again severe headache, nausea, and vomiting. We were admitted to the hospital and given IV decadron, depakote, compazine, toradol, and Benadryl. She started to feel a little better, but we decided with the neurologist to do a cranial nerve block. After our discharge, we have continued with nausea, vomiting all weekend. We did increase her topamax to 50 mg and this is a side effect of this drug. We are truly at a loss and feel helpless.
Avatar n tn I am currently on Copaxone, Depakote, Neurontin, for the MS; Evista for osteoporosis, Tenormin, (as a beta blocker),for Migrane headache, Cinestin - an estrogen replacement (I had a complete Hysterectomy in 1991), Vesicare and Oxytrol for my neurogenic bladder and Tylenol with codine for acute pain. I recently had blood work and my WBC was slightly elevated at 11, RBC, Hemoglobin, and Hematocrit were slightly low and my lymphocytes were above 5000, (high normal is 3900).
