neurontin and cyclobenzaprine

My OB took me off of all of my Fibro meds at the beginning of pregnancy. (Meds were- Neurontin, Cyclobenzaprine, Baclofen, Trazodone, Vit. D and Tramadol) The only thing she will allow me to take is 1/2 to 1 tab of Vicodin 10/500mg a day even though narcotics have NEVER worked for my pain and she knows that- and I hate Vicodin. At every appointment, I tell her that my pain is worsening and unbearable but her only suggestions have been more narcotics and warm water exercise.

Lyrica is semiliar to Neurontin; it supposedly should help the nerves calming down. Neurontin has the property to stop the nerves "shooting off" with other words, for nerve pains. But both pills have the "nice side effect" among many others, "to gain weight." I saw my friend who was on a high dosis Neurontin after 1 1/2 year and could not recognize her anymore. She was looking like in a 7th month pregnant; but I know for sure, she is a very small eater.

I dont post much (read a lot though)...a little over 3 weeks clean (again, LOL)... My right shoulder has been killing me the last 2-3 weeks, and this weekend, seems to have gotten worse; Doc said on Fri, most likely muscular...went through the weekend with Tylenol and today, pain is even worse. I asked him for something "non-narcotic" (he knows about my addiction) and he suggested Cyclobenzaprine (muscle relaxer).

Hi. I am wanting to quit taking Cyclobenzaprine. I took 20mg a day off and on, like twice a week for 2 years, and then started taking the 20 mg every day for the last 13 years. I plan to wean off, and am wondering what to expect as of withdrawal symptoms. Also, does anyone know of a natural med I could take in it's place?

You are right, certain medications particularly muscle relaxants and antichlinergics, interfere with the results of EMG like baclofen and flexeril or cyclobenzaprine that you are taking. It would be prudent to apprise your neurologist of all the medications you are on, so that the EMG results are appreciated in that light. Muscle biopsy can be taken up after an EMG. Consult your neurologist for his preferences and expertise. Take care.

I'm on the exactly same thing. Just worried since I'm a first time mom. I took one earlier and my body feels relaxed and my baby is still moving around which is a good sign to me (: I just hope it works. I really can't afford a chiropractor again but I hate medicines if I can avoid them. Thank you !

They diagnosed me with a cervical sprain and prescribed me Cyclobenzaprine and Tylenol-Codeine as well as applied a muscle relaxant shot and sent me on my way. I started the prescription regimen that day. Two days later, I began to lose hearing in my right ear. It felt as though it was "full" of water or wax or the like. I visited a different clinic (as I was in another city) and they prescribed me a steroid and informed me that my eardrum had filled with fluid.

I was in a car accident March 20th, 2009. I was put on cyclobenzaprine and naproxen for 3 months by my doctor to treat whiplash from mid back to neck. At that time I had a severe reaction to naproxen and developed severe ankle to hip pain. Then my doctor put me on tramadol with cyclobenzaprine. My psychiatrist is thinking about it for my anxiety, since nothing is working since a terrible and weird and untreated Paxil withdrawal four years ago. And to the poster, she says it's okay to take with klonopin, if that's any help, since I'm on klonopin and asked her about that.

I am supposed to take another 300mg in the morning. I took the 600mg at like 9 pm. It is now almost 3am so I took 20 mg of cyclobenzaprine and the am dose of gabapentin. Is this safe? Like I said I am new to these meds and want to make sure I am not overdoing it.

Have been on lorazepam and cyclobenzaprine muscle relaxers then have been taking them rather frequently but still following the proper dosage instructions. Started getting respitory depression think I almost died....stopped breathing in sleep...lungs seemed depleted yet constricted...weak in the diaphragm. Went off it now and now feeling what seems almost like heart attack symptoms.

The dr. just prescribed cyclobenzaprine 10 mg. tablets.... I took 1 ...did not feel like it was doing anything.....my shoulders were still arched up to my ears...(i think i also have a pinched nerve in my shoulder so my shoulders are always up)...... so about 2 1/2 hours later i took one more............ugh.......it sent the pain into high gear....seems like it aggravated my back......because...i was having pains all over my back in spots.....even in the lower back.....on the muscle parts....

I am taking a strong dosage of neurontin and I have the same effects as described. I can sit for up to 5-7 minutes before a flow begins. Not sure if it is the neurontin or a pain medication. I have nerve damage and need both medications.

Yes I became parinoid and and anxious I got off it immediatley and switched to kolonipin which works well for me

That is what I call Tweeks, you get tweeked and more pain for about three days to a week. I was on Neurontin and actually have myofascial pain but they thought it may have been a nerve at first. The neurontin didn't do a thing for me. I was on 1200mg/day and it took me two months to get off of it because I got insomnia and had to take benedryl to get off of it and be able to sleep. It is low on side effects except feeling tired and dumb.

I'm taking the generic form, just recently resumed but have used it in the past. Neurontin is Rx-ed for nerve pain as an "off label" use, that it, treating nerve pain is not the function for which it was designed so it's not listed as a use on the manufacturer's label. It is actually an anti-seizure med, but it was found to also reduce neuropathy in patients. It is my understanding that Lyrica works much in the same way, and is a newer medication by the same company.

The problem many people have with Neurontin and meds like it is they start at two high a dose and increase too fast. That maximizes the sides effects and they stop it, when it might have worked wonders. Then it goes on their *bleep* list. Neurontin is not used for sleep unless the problem with sleep is with neuroapthic pain or paresthesias. We had a pain management doc visit us a while back and he wrote a couple Health Pages for us. Hello I have a question about neurontin. I recently stopped taking tramadol after 13 years. I had a very difficult time doing so. I stopped Dec 6. My doctor put me on neurontin but I think I am now having withdrawal symptoms from neurontin. I have been taking about 900 mg a day since September. It gives me a lot of side effects such as drowsiness and the inability to think quickly.

I have been on Neurontin (Gabapentin) for 7 years and recently the pressure in my eyes is high and it's possible the drug has caused this. My pupils react slowly to changes in light and my left one is always bigger than the right. I have extremely bad neuropathic pain all over my body and I have tried many other drugs but none work that well and I am not sure what happens next.

I was given some sample bottles to try, but after reading the possible side effects and the possible effects from stopping its use, I decided to try some other ways of dealing with my neuropathy.

but if its going to help I willtake it...My right leg has alot of nerve damage and deep scar tissue and it bothers me pretty bad...but for some reason they wont prescribe me pain meds that I can just take when Im in pain...they want me to take this one so I have to be on it all the time...I kinda feel like they think Im a drug addict or something and I want to yell at them....its so hard to chase toddlers around when your limping...Im a stay at home mom by the way...
