Avatar f tn A doctor should guide these decisions. Unwanted side effects like cough are considered by doctors and weighed against the desired effect of the medication. Risks verses benefits ratio. Doctors also use medications in ways that aren't always in the literature. Try to view your mother's doctor as her ally in health to guide you through these hurdles. Let us know what you find out.
Avatar m tn My BP was well-controlled on 100 mg Losartin and 7.5 mg Amlodipine, averaging around 125/68. At peak exertion, during a treadmill stress test recently, my systolic BP reached 215. My cardiologist subbed 5 mg Nebivolol for the Amlodipine due to what he described as exercise-related hypertension. I took this medication for a week and experienced a range of unpleasant side effects, including exhaustion, significant depression and reduced heart rate (mid-60s, compared with my normal mid-80s).
Avatar n tn ve been on metoprolol before, and had some awful side effects with that one, but the bystolic seems to tame those down quite a bit for me. I've only had two instances in which I could tell I was experiencing some slight side effects (dizziness, slight shortness of breath, pressure). I've also been told by my GP that, if I find myself with a rapid heart rate or back in A-fib, I can take another 2.5mg dose right then, since it's such a small dosage.
Avatar m tn com, which will explain how the drug works and the side effects, and ask your pharmacist. You could ask your doctor, but they're often hard to reach. I would try to find out why you have hypertension, though, and next time you see your doc see if they can tell you that and if you can treat it with dietary changes rather than medication. This drug is in a class called beta blockers that helps with your problem and with other heart irregularities and sometimes is used for anxiety as well.

Avatar f tn Many medical professional are not very adept at preparing patients for the side effects and/or intervening before they worsen. I realize it is a 50-50 kind of thing and the patient should learn as much as possible beforehand - though as you pointed out, it is a tremendous body of knowledge and rather overwhelming for a layman (which is what I consider myself).
Avatar f tn Hi Jennifer, How are you? Medication side effects may or may not occur to patients. You were given pain medication, anti-inflammatory, antihistamine and antipsychotic/tranqulizer. You may experience gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting and sedative effects. However, it is important that any sign of allergic reaction such as difficulty of breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. twitching or tremor will warrant immediate attention. Take care and do keep us posted.
4703993 tn?1379768388 5 (really small dose, but even with 10mg of Midodrene 3x a day my blood pressure would drop too low and the side effects were unbearable) .. so he concluded that I have a sensitivity to beta blockers.
697574 tn?1273955747 The manufacturer has by law to list all known side-effects on their product data sheets, even rare side-effects. Remember many people get through their treatment without suffering any major side-effects and hopefully this will be the case with you. So I would relax and forget it. If you worry about a decrease in libido, you'll definitely get a decrease in libido!
Avatar n tn Thank goodness depression is not one of the side effects I have. The only time I have ever taken Benadryl was in the hospital prior to blood transfusions.
Avatar f tn Drug side effects can occur years later which is why you see many drugs being pulled of the market. Clinical trials run for an average of 8 weeks on healthy adults. Plavix side effects: "Gastrointestinal (GI) discomfort has occurred in 27.1% of patients (compared with 29.8% of patients who were treated with aspirin in comparative trials). Other GI side effects have included diarrhea in 4.5%, dyspepsia in 5.2%, nausea in 3.4%, and abdominal pain in 5.6% of patients.
120574 tn?1240767840 Can anyone tell me what type of side effects you had with Avastin. Did you take it alone, or with a chemo drug?
Avatar f tn sorry to hear your hubby is having a hard time. sounds like he is having some of the common side effects. There is nothing that can boost platlets but many docs let them go really low before lowering or stopping the meds. Try and get back on the full strength of interferon ASAP! Probably the most common side effect is the itching. I have it as well and it is horrible. I have found some relief with a prescription med called Atarax.
Avatar f tn Yes, I saw that--but in my opinion Cialis would work better if there was erectile dysfunction--difficulty in maintaining erection. Please get your urine and semen tested and try and get a second opinion. Try the non-pharmacological methods I have suggested. They may help. See if you can consult a sex therapist or a counselor who can teach you ways to delay ejaculation Also ask the urologist whether any creams to desensitize the tip and shaft of penis are available in your country.
Avatar n tn Are there any known side effects for Shen Calmer and Liver Happy Capsules? My dog has been taking them for about a week now. He is taking them for anxiety, no signs of relief yet, but no prescriptions have helped him so this is our last resort. The second day he vomited and the vet said she hadn't ever seen that so we have kept going.
715004 tn?1309077280 I too take a BB, Metoprolol, but I don't have any your strange symptom. Have you studied the side effects listed for Bystolic? I note too that 5 mg sounds like a light dose, but I'm comparing to Metoprolol which I take 100 mg of each day. Your HR and BP look great, but I recommend you call your doctor and ask for his reaction to your "crawly feeling", s/he may change your medication. I doesn't sound like something one would want to have to live with.
Avatar n tn The treatment requires close medical supervision by a dermatologist because the drug has many known side effects (many of which can be severe). About 25% of patients may relapse after one treatment. In those cases, a second treatment for another 4-6 months may be indicated to obtain desired results.
Avatar m tn I know that all BBs have a lot of horrible effects, but currently I will happy if the side effects (for me) on a new medicine will be at 50-70% of what I felt on Bisoprolol, I will be very, very happy. I was ill, without any energy, and with insane breathing and walking problems on Bisoprolol. If I will be able to find a medicine one day with only "mild" side effects like headaches, dizziness, nausea and moderate tiredness and similar, I will be very happy.
21064 tn?1309308733 I am trying to compile a list of common heart medications for one of the Health Pages. So many times someone asks for suggestions, about side effects, etc. It would be great to have a place closeby where we could provide a hyperlink to more information on medications common for heart patients. Will you please help me by letting me know what medication(s) you are currently taking, or what medication(s) you would like to know more about?
