1112541 tn?1286311213 Some herbal products (like soy isoflavones, red clover and some Chinese herbs) can act like estrogen in our bodies, and may not be safe for women who need to avoid estrogen. Also, there are some antidepressants that are supposed to be helpful for those of us who can't take the hormones, so that might be another option you could ask your doctor about. Take care!
Avatar f tn How is your estrogen and your DHEA-S? When your doc tests your testosterone, does he test bio-available testosterone, and does the doc test sex binding hormones, LH, FSH, to get the entire pic of your androgens and how your body is using the testosterone? Estrogen and testosterone and very very closely related - so it could be that your testosterone is simply converting over to estrogen instead of staying as testosterone. This cannot be controlled really - it just happens.
1340383 tn?1309990914 I am trying to explore natural remedies for healing ovarian cysts..I have one (2.6 cm by 3.4 cm) on my left ovary and my Dr is suggesting birth control pills.. anyone heard of any herbs or food items to shrink cysts? Thanks!!
Avatar n tn I know some women who swear by wild yam cream. Maybe you could check a book on natural remedies -- I think I did see one specifically about natural remedies for menopause symptoms a while back. It kind of was tough to read (who wants to believe these things are really going to happen?) but it seems like I remember it talked about foods and supplements and stuff.
Avatar n tn It is so hard for a doctor where i live to give me a prescription for that. They dont agree with it, and i would prefer that over BC.
Avatar f tn While black cohosh can help with estrogen, most women don't have an estrogen problem, they have a progesterone problem. That's why most experts in natural health use formulas, not single herbs. But this woman has had a hysterectomy, so it's highly unlikely any of us on here can help -- you need expert advice because you're missing some of the tools to utilize hormones produced naturally.
414018 tn?1268611672 Terrific story! Thanks. : ) And thanks for all your hard work. Is your OVCA estrogen-dependent? Have you asked your doctor about taking anti-estrogen medication? I'm on one called Aromasin. It kills up to 95% of the estrogen in your body. I'm hoping it works for OVCA; it's in clinical trials for it now (it's used for breast cancer at the moment.) And hey, at least you're entering menopause as your winter is approaching in Australia. Happy hot flashes!
Avatar f tn This is why we recommend that women with estrogen receptor positive breast cancer avoid HRT as well as soy and other “natural” estrogen products.
296340 tn?1336164001 Without question stress is a major factor in a woman’s ability to conceive (or lack thereof). For some women just feeling that they are doing the best and most natural thing for their bodies helps enormously. The major herbs listed for fertility treatment are listed below. RED CLOVER Red clover has long been regarded as one of the best of the natural herbs for fertility.

Avatar f tn Or on how estrogen impacts B6 levels? Has anyone had any experience with the use of natural progesterone or estrogen with B6 toxicity? Prior to this, I frequently used natural progesterone during the last part of my cycle (day #12 thru day #26). I hadn't touched the stuff though still dealing w/ this B6 problem.
Avatar n tn There may be an initial increase in hair growth or reduction in hair loss experienced by few women when they start taking birth control pills or estrogen replacement pills. Since you have been taking it continuously estrogen levels will stabilize and the natural hair growth cycle might be restored. Long term use of hormonal contraceptives should be discouraged. You may try discontinuing the pill when you are trying to get pregnant. Give your hair extra nourishment and take a balanced diet.
587083 tn?1327120262 Since menopause,I have consumed some natural product containing some kind of estrogen to control the night sweating, hot flashes.I drank milk made of soy,ate soy beans and tofu. Could this be the cause that my mammogram was abnormal?I have to have another mammogram and an ultrasound at the end of this month. am very worried and don't know what to think anymore.Maybe the natural things I ate, containing estrogen is the cause that I might have cancer?
Avatar f tn I am in early 40s. I would not sleep well and sweats a lot. I am searching for a natural way to reduce these symptoms. Recently I found an article that about Jia Wei Xiao Yao San, a traditional Chinese herbal formula could reduce the symptoms. It is a 16-week treatment that compared with hormone replacement therapy, Premelle(Wyeth Medical) and Cool Vital Mover (Sun Ten Medical). The research result seems ok but I really want to know does any one every try that before?
Avatar n tn I also read another article that said that the only symptoms that are proven to be linked to menopause are hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Some real natural remedies for these are mint (in a tea, bath, or body lotion) and some people have said that eating soy products, leafy greens, and and whole grains while cutting back on red meat and simple carbs (white bread and pasta, white rice) has worked well. And it can't hurt to eat better anyway....
427265 tn?1444076436 Excess estrogen can cause breast pain and lumpiness, heavy painful menstrual bleeding and weight gain around the hips, buttocks and thighs. This is very frustrating for women who are pear shaped as they may develop cellulite around the hips and thighs. Pear shaped women are known as Gynaeoid shaped women and they often have a weight problem in the lower part of their body.
Avatar f tn I did have irregular periods due to a higher than average level of estrogen. I'm sure they did blood work that showed that? If not, that's easy to do. I also had thyroid issues and combined, those two factors made me have periods every 3 to 4 months! Such a pain that was! I was in my 20's though so wasn't worried about menopause like I would be now. For whatever reason, women with high levels of estrogen are MORE likely to have candida or yeast overgrowth.
Avatar m tn t convert to estrogen, even if one took Tamoxifen a long with it for a short cycle (3-4 weeks) would it shut the bodies natural production of testosterone down? Would you even need Tamoxifen if it didn't convert to estrogen? Increased testosterone can also lead to liver damage, hair loss and increased acne due to oily skin, as well as an enlarged prostate. Can I have an honest scientific answer besides the typical "drugs are bad mmmkay." ?
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?
Avatar f tn If you are prone to cancer, the natural way is the only way to go, estrogen makes cancer cells grow, the progesterone, does not. Also, I recommend two very good books by Dr Lee, a pioneer in natural hormones and women's health. One is called "What you doctor may NOT tell you about menopause" and the other is called "What you doctor may NOT tell you about perimenopause" they are great books and easy to understand.
Avatar n tn Some post-menopausal women still get hot flashes and night sweats; this can go on for weeks/months/ and less commonly, for years. I personally have never heard of anyone this has happened to, but this is what my doctor has told me. I do not think it is common that it goes on for years--I think more like weeks or months. I was upset when I heard this and sure hope mine go away at or near the 12-month of no period point! Today I had a MAJOR hot flash at the baseball game.
Avatar f tn you can look for Natural Progesterone cream. Its natural progesterone, and not as strong as the progynova. I used it for months with very few side effects (tender breasts, increased appetite).
Avatar m tn s important to discuss anything (even natural supplements with a Dr.) Even natural supplements can interact negatively with each other, or other medications you are on. Natural does not mean safe. There is absolutely no scientific evidence that there is anyway to improve egg quality. Women are born with x amount of eggs, and that is what we get. They age just like we do, and that is where chromosomnal abnormalities come into play.
Avatar n tn I was told that I could NOT take over the counter supplements for menopausal symptoms. They believe that my masses were estrogen receptive...that means no soy, no black cohash, etc as they all "mimic" estrogen.
476246 tn?1418870914 The chemotherapy-induced premature menopause in younger women may be short-term but could last for months or years. Menopause may place women at an increased risk for both osteoporotic fractures and cardiovascular disease. Because of rapidly declining estrogen levels, the hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and atrophy caused by chemotherapy-induced menopause may be more severe than the symptoms with natural menopause.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy in 2001. I was on estrogen for about 5 years. I stopped taking them in fear of cancer. Since that time, I have taken many different kinds of OTC herbal remedies to stop the hot flashes, night sweats, moodiness, headaches and especially the weight gain. Nothing seems to help. I have gained 40 lbs since 2001 and I honestly can say I do not eat more than I did then, nor am I a junk food addict. I am cautious of what I eat...but nothing helps my problem.
