Montelukast adverse effects

Common Questions and Answers about Montelukast adverse effects

singulair

Avatar n tn I took Montelukast (Singulair) for about one month and began having extreme nightmares and panic attacks. I stopped the montelukast immediately, and the nightmares stopped. But the panic attacks continue. I know others have had similar reactions, but I wonder if anyone has found out how to make the effects go away? I have been off the medication for over 3 months now.
Avatar n tn I have heard of others, especially children, experiencing the same or similar neuropsychiatric side effects with Montelukast and would love to know if someone found something that has helped. I just started a full body detox plan with the hope that that might help, and I wonder if there is something that might help with brain inflammation if that is the problem. I am seeing a naturopath who is very helpful. He referred me to an accupuncturist which helps but not completely.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome.
Avatar m tn a month ago, ive started doing vigorous exercises which led me to be diagnosed with exercise-induced asthma. the pulmonologist gave me some medicines to take e.g montelukast, ventolin inhaler and symbicort. Xray for the sinus and chest were also ordered which resulted to bilateral nasal congestion and clear chest. The problem is, I have been experiencing symptom of dizziness. Its been a month now and I could not take it anymore. As if I am floating always.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, methotrexate is quite an effective drug used in cases of rheumatoid arthritis. The detailed drug interaction with montelukast is not been reported or extensively studied. We take it as no harmful effects reported yet. Yes you can take combination but after consultation from your doctor.
Avatar m tn ve been taking amplodipine / norvasc 10 mg (antihypertensive) for about a year and a half now and montelukast / singulair 10 mg (leukotriene modifier) for shorter periods (2 months, march - may 2008 and 2 months this year, started in early may and still on it). Last month, after having been on fluoxetine / prozac for about 1 year, I showed some deterioration (more depressive symptoms, more anxiety / panic attacks).
Avatar n tn Now doctor is suusting her to go for avastin injection, now she is afraid to take it as there will be adverse effects. Is this true? And what the chance are for her to get her full sight back?

Avatar f tn About 2 months ago I was prescribed Restasis Eye drops and after being on the dug for about 2-3 weeks I noticed that my mouth got extremely dry. So I looked up all the side effects and none included dry mouth. so I called the Dr. that prescribed it to me and I was told that 1% of patients get this dry mouth and I was told to discontinue use of the drug and come see the Dr in 1 month. It's been a month and I went to the Dr but the symptoms has gotten worse instead of better.
Avatar f tn I firmly believe that my psychiatrist should have warned me about the side effects of this med or any meds he prescribes. By God, they are sure to warn against effects of Viagra and other drugs on TV!!!!!! I would have never thought of telling him about mouth sores and a sore throat. I made no connection at all. I don't know how long it's going to take to get out of my system, but we stopped it on Friday and I hope I don't have any untoward effects from that.
Avatar f tn When you say Advair and Albuterol can cause adverse cardiovascular effects, do you mean both of them can cause adverse effects (either/or) or the two used together can cause adverse effects?
Avatar n tn Get off Singulair and get on OCTACOSANOL. This stuff works better than Mercks ( montelukast sodium ) except it has no side effects and its quicker and cheaper. Then kiss your and your sons Asthma goodby. No more coughing at any time in the for eather of you. bill103 ....
Avatar n tn Xopenex® Inhalation Solution (levalbuterol) is a short acting inhaled medicine, a rescue medicine, with fewer side effects than similar medicines used for the relief of acute asthma symptoms. It is not a medicine well-suited for long term, sustained asthma control. There are other classes of asthma medicines, called controller medicines and these do not have the same excitatory side effects.
Avatar m tn both of ours symptoms get resolved if we take antihistamine like cetrizine + montelukast. But if we take fluticasone nasal spray, there is no improvement at all even after month..both of us get no relief from nasal sprays...even tried metaspray (mometasone). What is the reason behind this?? Is it genetics? Or the corticosteroid is not getting absorbed? Or its getting absorbed but not producing result.
Avatar m tn The adverse effects experienced are similar to those with use of adenosine. While adverse effects are less frequent with dipyridamole (47% of patients), they tend to be more serious than those associated with adenosine. The most common adverse effects of dipyridamole are chest pain (19%), headache (12%), and hypotension (4.6%). In addition, 12% of patients require aminophylline for reversal of adverse effects.
1286779 tn?1400012806 Some medications can have odd adverse effects in older people that don't happen when we're younger. My mother (same age as your mom) had really weird side effects from lyrica but it didn't help her pain so she quit taking it. I think your mom would benefit from a complete medication review by a gerontologist. That's a doctor who specializes in treating seniors.
Avatar f tn Some people are sensitive to the heart effects of this medicine and get a rapid heart beat, as you do. This rapid heart beat and shakiness that accompanies it is more of a nuisance than a real threat, unless you have underlying heart disease. That you need to take this inhaler frequently or regularly, is an indication that your asthma is not well controlled and that you should be on one or more long-acting medicines for it.
Avatar f tn Do you have allergies to these medicines or just adverse effects? Allergies are a biochemical response to chemicals that cause measurable physiologic changes and can be lethal. What many people call allergies are actually just adverse effects of the drugs (e.g., upset stomach from aspirin). Adverse reactions can be tolerated, allergies are more complex. Have you talked with your doctor? For example, Atenolol can definitely make people feel tired and foggy.
Avatar n tn There can be some serious adverse effects (some of which are long-term). There is a process to report adverse events to the FDA but I do not know if they "accept" all reports. We do not get full disclosure of a lot of things medical so it seems that would also apply to vaccines. It is important that we do our research since we are the ones who have to live with the after effects. These links may be helpful in making this decision: http://www.fda.
