My GAD is pretty mild and my doctor had me try a standard anti-anxiety medication that I just couldn't tolerate, so I take Ativan as needed, which also makes me tired, so I take it as little as possible.
I've seen discussions about beta blockers being helpful and my psychiatrist agreed that it was worth trying. So far I'm happy with them.
Can anyone please tell me if adrafinil (pre-cursor to Modafinil) will affect taking birth-control pills? In other words, if I occasionally take adrafinil to help me study - will it make the pills ineffective. I certainly don't want to get pregnant.

Hi, welcome to the forum, modafinil mainly acts by decreasing GABA-mediated neurotransmission. GABA is known to suppress the general alertness and can cause induction of sleep. Modafinil increases high-frequency alpha waves while decreasing both delta and theta wave activity which shows generalized increase in alertness.
Hence, Modafinil Improves wakefulness in patients with excessive daytime sleepiness associated with narcolepsy and shift work sleep disorder (SWSD).
There are no factors, including duration of therapy, that are known to predict the risk of occurrence or the severity of rash associated with modafinil or NUVIGIL. In cases where the time to onset was reported, serious rash occurred 1 day to 2 months after initiation of treatment, but isolated cases of serious dermatologic reactions have been reported with symptoms beginning after prolonged treatment (e.g., 3 months).
Hi all, I currently take 100 mg of Modafinil every morning but was advised that I could take up to 400 mg per day.
The doc who prescribed mentioned one tab in the am and one in the pm but I have heard from other people who take it that they find it better to take 200 mg in the am instead of splitting it into two doses.
I tried the am and pm option today but am beyond exhausted.
I would love to hear what anyone has found works best for them.

I have come to the conclusion I should try Zoloft with the Lamotirgine. I would prefer the Modafinil, as it was suggest to me before. but it is not in these countries yet.
I think the paranoia is a symptom of my anxiety. I am fairly certain I am also ADHD but all these disorders seem to be so closely related that if you get the right combination they all clear up.
