provigil

Avatar n tn This can produce euphoria, it can be abused for a high sensation particularly by students as stimulants for staying up all night for exams. There are certain common side effects associated with its use like headache, dizziness, difficulty in falling asleep, drowsiness, nausea, heartburn, confusion and burning, tingling and numbness of skin. There could be certain withdrawal symptoms associated with it. Dizziness could be part of this sudden stopping of the drug.
7126533 tn?1388405470 There is an infrequent but can be severe side effect of modafinil that prevents the bladder from emptying. Please be aware of this and make sure that when you void you are emptying close to all of the urine - otherwise you can be setting yourself up for other problems. It can also have the same effect on bowel function and cause incomplete emptying. I use modafinil and I have also had the incontinence problems and had the botox injections (love it!) in July.
Avatar m tn Might want to scope out your throat to see if there are also problems down there. Under side effects for Nuvigil it says, "Skin and mouth sores, blistering, and ulceration have been reported with modafinil and NUVIGIL in the postmarketing setting. Recurrence of signs and symptoms of serious dermatologic reactions following rechallenge has been reported in some cases.
Avatar m tn The first 3 or so days were amazing, I felt motivated, awake, and alert, and most of all, it helped suppress my hunger, and I already felt like I was on the right path to losing weight, and eating smaller, healthier portions. No side effects! Then on the 4th day, about an hour and a half after my first short acting dose, I start to feel some chest pain, not exactly sure how to explain it because Ive never felt something like it before.
1203197 tn?1265555829 Hello there, first off all getting off seroquel is a good thing. Now speaking of Modafinil (Provigil) well i suggest it to you because it doesn't have any badside effects at all but the little side effects when you start or the ones of drinking coffee and even then i didn't notice anything stronger than coffee with Modafinil (Alertec here in Canada). I take it as a cognitive enhancer.
Avatar m tn My blood pressure is consistently 120/80 and pulse shows no tachycardia and is regular. No evidence of any known side effects, health appears entirely fine, but no tests/examinations have been done. * I wanted to write more information but deleted a lot due to 2000 character limit.
738075 tn?1330575844 Modafinil just wasn't cutting it. I've switched to Amantidine, and lucky for me, no nasty side effects. Still, my fatigue is kicking my @$$! I'm good 'til about 2 pm, but pretty useless for the rest of the day. Any other Amantidine users out there? What are your experiences?
5160872 tn?1385248794 I had a really hard time with the starter pack of tecfidera because of stomach pain side effects, so I took a week break and then weaned myself on much slower. I took 120mg once A day for 2 weeks, then 120mg twice a day for 4 weeks, then I took 240mg at night and 120mg in the morning for 4 weeks, then I took 240mg at night and also 240mg in the morning every other day for a week, and now I am on week 4 of the full dose (240mg in morning and 240mg at night).
Avatar f tn My question - after ranting (sorry)- has anyone here tried modafinil? If so - how much of a dose helps you? Any side effects? Or is there anything easier to get dr. to prescribe? Thank you for listening. But I do feel there is help on the horizon - finally after being sick without diagnosis - yes- It stinks it is MS but I am (crazy) feeling blessed they found something.
Avatar f tn As the side effects and addiction potential is less. Some people need treatment with methylphenidate (Concerta, Ritalin, others) or various amphetamines. These medications are very effective but may sometimes cause side effects such as nervousness and heart palpitations and can be addictive.
14631020 tn?1436545476 I know what you mean. I live on caffeine. Are there any side effects to Modafinil? My neuro mentioned Adderall, but he wants to try the sleeping meds first.
5509293 tn?1428531475 Hi Corrie, That's interesting. I'm finding the positive effects great so far if I can just manage the negative ones by dose. It's much better than amantadine which worked for me but I often forgot to take second midday dose. I was told if the BP issues don't settle with smaller dose then neuro can prescribe something else but I think that something else might be Ritalin or something similar. Maybe your neuro doesn't prescribe that.
Avatar f tn Modafinil as very few side-effects compared to the amphetamines and other stimulants doctors often use to treat lethargy or attention deficit disorder. If your looking for something more like a supplement I recommend you eat a good breakfast (cereals like Vector are supplemented and are good for energy). The most bioavailable energy you can get naturally is from food, not supplements. Well balanced breakfast should improve your energy levels.
Avatar f tn I have been put on Modafinil for my sleeping issues and it makes my birth control less effective according to my neurologist and pharmacist. Is there any way I can find out how MUCH less? Am I even protected at all? I have been on the pill for 10 years and after hearing this, I immediately called my gynecologist to discuss other options. She told me that the oral pill would metabolize through the liver much faster on Modafinil and so she put me on the Nuvaring.
Avatar m tn Piracetam can be bought over the internet and is not a controlled substance and Modafinil is prescription only, you can talk to your doctor about it, it is not a stimulant in the amphetamine family like Dexedrine therefore it have no real side effects other than side effects of caffeine and any physical addiction can't be achieved.
Avatar f tn I had tried Provigil some years ago for fatigue and didn't have a good experience. I now take Vyvanse for ADHD, and it helps with energy and focus, too. It's great. If you can make it past the side effects in the start; once they are gone, it's great.
Avatar m tn I have been taking lamotrigene (the generic for lamictal) for about 10 years. It is an epileptic medication for seizures that is used, as my psych. says, as a mood leveler. It doesn't react to seritonin or anything. it helped take the edginess away for me - but i did put up with blurred vision which i didn't realize was a side effect for years. Went off it last month to see if vision cleared but it was negligible....i take other meds that can cause that too.
667078 tn?1316000935 Hi Alex, I am sorry you are feeling so fatigued. It's rotten. Here is my experience. The modafinil not only works, but it's a complete lifesaver for me. I would be in big trouble without it. I started out on 200mg. This was a disaster for me. I am small, and I think the dose was too much. It made me feel as if I was on a train that wouldn't stop and it gave me heart palpitations. This freaked me out and I stopped immediately. Neuro recommended trying 100mg.
Avatar f tn Can you please tell me if taking 300mg Adrafinil (pre-cursor to Modafinil) once or twice a week, to help me study. will decrease the effectivenes of birth control pills? I'm taking Levlen 1.5/30mg I know that a long term Modafinil use makes birth control pills less effective but how about short term? PLEASE ADVISE, Thank you!
20003388 tn?1515166040 Unfortunately yes, I have tried CBT for both sleep and my anxiety disorders as well as my OCD and never had any success. As far as asking my doctor's, I've come to realize they know very little about the medications they prescribe. I recently found out the average doctor only has to take a 3 month course on medications (not sure exactly how true this is, my therapist claims this is true. He has 4 phd's and a masters.
Avatar f tn Can anyone please tell me if adrafinil (pre-cursor to Modafinil) will affect taking birth-control pills? In other words, if I occasionally take adrafinil to help me study - will it make the pills ineffective. I certainly don't want to get pregnant. I know that long term use of Modafinil decreases the effectivenes of bc pills but how about short term use? Once or twice a week? Thank you!
Avatar m tn Hi. I need some help figuring out how Modafinil works. I basically have something which seems like Insomnia but it isn't. I believe I suffer from Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. I have had it since I was 15, I am 25 now. The problem is that, I can't maintain a proper schedule. I can never sleep at a particular time everyday. It keeps moving as every day passes by. For example, right now I am sleeping at around 9 AM everyday and then I am getting up at around 5 PM.
20003388 tn?1515166040 Did you give the drugs some time to see if this was just a start-up side effect rather than a lasting one? But sometimes we just can't take certain meds and there might never be any way to know why. If it's a mild reaction, and you seem to not be getting what you need from other meds, maybe it's worth the trouble -- they all have some side effects even when we don't notice them.
