Mircette and migraine

Common Questions and Answers about Mircette and migraine

mircette

Avatar m tn For the past 10 days I have had light brown discharge non-stop, bloating, and bad stomach cramps. I was on Azurette birth control for about a year and then I switched to Mircette(this is my first pack); so I was wondering if the switch could have anything to do with it even though they are basically the same birth control. I am due for my period on Tuesday the 29th. I am very confused as to why this is happening so I'm wondering if you have any ideas or explanations!
525501 tn?1212432217 Mircette contains a combination of female hormones that prevent ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary). Mircette also causes changes in your cervical mucus and uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to reach the uterus and harder for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus." sorry if I'm spamming a bit... I'm gonna go to be now, it's 2 hrs past my normal bedtime anyways....
Avatar f tn All day I had maybe an equivalent to about 5 spots of pink and brown when I wipe and on a liner. Well today I wiped this morning and there was a little dot of pink/maybe red and that's it. I have nothing on my liner to care about. Do you think my body is adjusting to the low dose eventhough I was just on it the end of March (Loestrin 24) and April (Ortho Lo)? I'm confused and don't know if I should POAS.
Avatar f tn My husband and I have had unprotected sex and for the past 2 weeks I have had tender/swollen breast, went up almost a cup size, very bloated, unexpected nausea that comes and goes. Since Friday I have had very light cramping and pelvic pressure that comes and goes, when I move around they subside. This might sound gross but around 6/25 or so when I woke up I was very wet. I had sex around this time now I dont know if that was me ovulating or what. HPT's negative, maybe it is to soon.
Avatar f tn I have so many of the symptoms (pelvic, lower back and abdominal pain, bowel/gastro issues, horrible cramps, etc.). I am 39, but believe that BCP's helped suppress some of my symptoms for years until I had my last child (I was diagnosed about 10 years ago with IBS). I decided to get off BCPs and since, have been feeling awful. I am back on the pill (continuous Mircette), but still do not feel well.
Avatar f tn Hi, are you on birth control? I was on Mircette to regulate my cycle and because it wasn't "strong enough" I spotted mid cycle. I also spotted on the Depo shot so it could be birth control. You are not pregnant from giving a hand job.. unless you took the semen and inserted it into your vagina which I doubt you did. If you did have sex and just don't want to say.. then you could be pregnant and the spotting could be implantation bleeding.
1051752 tn?1253833456 Imitrex on the other hand is migraine medication and will stop a migraine. Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine.
Avatar f tn I work in the medical field yet I have been blind to my own symptoms. I am 47 and on Mircette for birth control and as a prophylactic for migraines - so I do not have a period. For the past three months or so I have been waking at 3am (despite 100 mg Trazadone that had been working fairly for several years) soaked in sweat. Sorry for the run-on sentence. Anyway, I attributed this to stress and a worsening of my Anxiety NOS.
494976 tn?1302710701 anyway I had MRI and diagnosed with migraine, no epilepsy. I thought migraine was a pounding headache but mine is constant, not throbbing. I do feel sick sometimes but my eyes always look 'heavy' when I have the headache.
Avatar n tn Sounds suspiciously like a migraine. The throbbing and pulsing can be very scary if you are not fully certain it is a migraine. Best treatment is to try and stay calm, Mersyndol or Zavance, stay in a dark room, plenty of fluids. When you feel better - go to you GP and get checked out.
1100598 tn?1413127426 Morphine is usually something I personally suggest migraineurs avoid just because it can cause nausea and vomiting, and why add more nausea and vomiting to our migraine symptoms... although everyone is unique and some people do find that this medication works for them.
734343 tn?1239601741 For several hours before a migraine I get so so hungry. I can eat and eat and eat and nothing eases it. Then like clockwork, I start to get a migraine. For a long time I thought that I had low blood sugar that would trigger the migraine, but now it seems more like an early symptom of the migraine, not the other way around. It's so weird, and fattening too!
410281 tn?1254229064 A third study found that 20% of a sample group of people with MS had a family history of migraine, compared to 10% of controls, suggesting that there may be a common predisposing factor to both MS and migraine. Vascular or migraine type headaches have even been reported as the first symptom of MS." The question remains: If these Neurologists have gone through YEARS of schooling and spent hundreds of thousands on their educations, then why can't they get past the headache dx??????
Avatar n tn A couple of weeks later I made the garlic bread again (without having realised the connection) and the next day I woke up with a migraine and was in bed for about 6 hours with a migraine! So i am now 100% sure its the garlic. When I think back to over the years I have realised that its not choc, cheese, red wine or coffee that give me a migraine...its that white little bulb! Im so glad ive figured it out as now I know to completely stay clear of garlic!! Is this the case for anyone else?
Avatar f tn I had the Mirena IUD inserted four days ago and have had a continuous migraine. I frequently get headaches, but nothing like this. I have pain behind my eyes and feel dizzy and it hurts worse than any headache I've ever felt. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Will it go away? Or should I see my Dr.?
Avatar n tn I have been having headaches and migraines since i was five and now i am getting them more frequently. I also have been getting deep pressure in specific spots in my head and it feels as though its a headache, but then disappears. I would like for you to suggest certain causes of this.
Avatar n tn It is possible that alcohol can trigger your migraine attacks. Although there are not enough studies done showing alcohol sensitivity and migraine at menopause. Preventive and abortive migraine medications may indeed help. Have this checked by your doctor or be referred to a gynecologist for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Have you tried a drug like topamax, you take them everyday to prevent a migraine? I also get depressed and confused after a headache, my vision get messed up, and I fall down or other weird things happen for about a week after. Topamax has lessened the amount of headaches I get. Have been on it for years now. Had a few side effects at first but they went away within 6 weeks. I also have to take my dose morning and night not all at once.
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor for Imitrex 100mg, is not narcotic, non addictive and it takes away your migraine right away. I'm also a migraine surferer and have tried a lot of medications and Imitrex works wonders.
572651 tn?1530999357 In listening to the webcast from last week your expert caught my attention when he said dizziness and being off balance is a sign of a migraine. I have had years of the sensation of being off balance and at times waves of dizziness. It never turns into vertigo or causes syncope but often feels like I could do one or the other.
1232362 tn?1333135406 Went to ER, they did CT and then MRI and came back fine. Finally decided it was a Complex Migraine. Dr. put me on Topamax (anti seizure medication) and it did nothing. Continued to have migraines every other day for 6 weeks. I kept telling everyone it was my JAW. I had pain in my jaw and it would shoot up into my brain and then cause a serious migraine. All they wanted to do was put me on this awful medication that I hated and it did nothing to relieve pain in jaw and head.
Avatar f tn The reason being antidepressants like Amitryptyline are known to work in migraines and serotonin agonists used to treat migraine are helpful in combating depression as well. Hope this answers your question!
