749148 tn?1302860959 hands... she prescribed Mirapex. I have not started it yet and wondered if anyone out there is using this medication and what your thoughts are. She recommended a TENS unit for the rib pain I guess it's caused from a miss-firing message between my spinal cord and my brain, even though no lesions showed on my thoracic MRI doesn't mean they are not there...hummmm.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if any of any other parents out there have kids with ADHD who also exhibit tourette's-like symptoms or have been diagnosed with tourette's? My son is almost 6 and we're quite sure he has ADHD (although he's still on the waiting list for the behavioral specialist).. he's very hyperactive, fidgetty, doesn't complete a task the 1st time you ask him, and his having a lot of trouble behaviorly in school ...
1511164 tn?1301580782 So I decided to post this same question on Yahoo Answers and found out that it is most like OCD, and I do have OCD http://*****************/question/index?qid=20110213042818AAeq89e Here what I got from wiki under Tourette Syndrome: Under Characteristic I found: "Among patients whose symptoms are severe enough to warrant referral to clinics, obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are often associated with Tourette's.
410281 tn?1254229064 PLMD, RLS and apnea. My neuro put me on mirapex immediately upon seeing the results. I actually feel like myself again. I had no idea that I was sleeping so poorly, especially after hearing about so much fatigue from my friends here. I can wake up and actually be awake!! I still shake, twitch, jerk and am quite tingly. But sleeping well sure makes it all more manageable... So for those of you with sleep disorders, or that think you might, ASK about Mirapex!
1390101 tn?1281000559 Wow Kraz - I am sorry that you have had to deal with the problem from Mirapex. I too have RLS and have been on Mirapex for about 2 years, but fortunately have not had a problem with gambling. I am an addict, but have been doing good with that too. Interesting though, your post made me think, there are other things that if I really look at it, I probably do in excess - and have been doing more since on Mirapex. Wonder if there is a connection there.
1154672 tn?1262222616 I have severe Restless leg Syndrome. I have been on Mirapex for about 6 years now, and never had a problem. I am unemployed now, and do not have any health insurance. My doctor has been great to give me samples, however; they are out of them right now. My doctor tried giving me clonazepam 1 mg 2 nights ago, I walked the floors and tossed and turned all night. I called my doctor, and she said to increase my clonazepam to 2mg before bed.
1200450 tn?1317496867 The doctor put me on mirapex. She told me it would make me very sleepy and help to control the jerking and twitching at night to allow me to get better sleep. I spent most of my sleep time in phase 2 sleep with very little time in REM. My question is about the mirapex. Have any of you ever had issues falling asleep while on the mirapex? I find that once I do get to sleep it helps me stay asleep better.
Avatar m tn I think the one you are thinking about is called Hylands and it is a supplement.
Avatar n tn Have you done any research on Tourette's Syndrome? Causes involuntary movements, called tics. Teeth grinding common, as well as mouth and eye blinking, making noises, and repetitive behaviours. It is an anxiety disorder, connected to OCD...you can read about it or ask your dr. I see you have ritalin and anti-depressants, common meds in treating anxiety disorders. My family has a history of this, my husband is 57 and has been taking ritalin since 50 years old, diagnosed with adult ADD...
Avatar n tn t know about the Monavie but what I take and is wonderful is Mirapex. I take it 3 times a day and have no restless legs unless I skip a dose or run out and then the RLS returns. I hope this has helped.
410281 tn?1254229064 I had been having a lot of unexplained symptoms such as tremor, muscle twitching and jerking, tingling in my extremeties and severe eye pain and facial numbness. Migraine was ruled out. Since I started on the mirapex most of my symptoms have either gone away completely or greatly diminished. Could they have been simply caused by the sleep deprivation? Thanks for your time.
Avatar n tn I'm on .25mg of Mirapex for RLS and am gaining weight. Has anyone else experienced this. Any idea as to why. Suggestions? Thanks!
398059 tn?1447945633 Because of the Mirapex and Gabapentin I can sleep at all. I still get uncomfortable though. It is pain really, except in my left arm anyway. But, the uncomfortablnes and pain in left arm is toerable. I just need more sleep than i am getting.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your feedback. We would also love it if doctors would give out MedHelp's URL to their patients to help track symptoms. Then their patients could just click Email This on their trackers and send it to their doctors for review. We could easily add Restless Legs as a symptom and Mirapex as a treatment to the Sleep Tracker. Would that work for you?
487070 tn?1313665952 Secondly, I have been put on Pramoxile (sp?) Mirapex for it. Started at 1/8 mg and increased over time to now 1 mg. I hate the side effects but it seems to be working for the most part. I understand it is mainly used for Parkinson's diasease and sometimes RLS. Does anyone take this for their RLS? If so how much? Supossedly it helps increase Dopmine levels which PLMD and Parkinson disorders have in common.I'm not sure if RLS is caused by low Dopamine or not. I feel like YUCK.
Avatar f tn I loose a lot of sleep. I get in day and night. My arms even jerk and have that restless feeling. Mirapex is taken twice a day and don't help. No drs will address it and I'm miserable . Is this a lack of a vitamin or mineral. Do I ever get rid of them?
Avatar n tn I have RLS and take Mirapex, .25mg about an hour before bed. It has worked great for me. I tried the Gabapentin and got up to 1200 mg - which was also taken before bed, but it did nothing for me. I have been told that Mirapex works much better than Ropinerol - you may want to talk to your doc about Mirapex as an option - it just went generic.
Avatar n tn Thanks for using the forum. I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with your doctor. It sounds like you have been suffering from tics. While I can not directly recommend a treatment without examining you and obtaining a history, I will try to provide you with some information.
Avatar m tn My husband is nearly 46 years old. He suffers from some Tourette's type symptoms, according to his doctor. These are the notes he wrote down from a test they did. Could you translate them for us? without contrast impression: "Global cortical involutional changes that are advanced for age, with a frontoparietal predominance" Thank you.
Avatar m tn I'm 17 years old, a female, and I've been having a lot of facial tics. Now, the reason why I'm asking is because as far as I know, I do not have Tourette's and maybe it's something else that I probably should know about. For the past several days I make clicking sounds with my tongue, pull my face back that stretches the neck, do this glare thing, and I just can't seem to stop. It's like, something is forcing me to, and if I don't I get really uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn My son is 5 years old. Here recently we have noticed that when he eats or sometimes anytime he makes this noise with his mouth. Like a small sighing but with his mouth closed. I am unsure if it is Tourette's or not. When you ask him to stop he says ok but then he never does. No matter how many times you tell him too he says he can't after you tell him a few times. I don't know what else to think it is. Help.
Avatar m tn I am a Special Education student in Wisconsin take a Medical Aspects of Disability course. As one of the course requirements, I need to interview either a family member of someone with Tourette's or an individual with the disorder regarding characteristics that affect the individual, interventions the person or family has tried/received and what they have liked, recommendations for educators working with children with the disorder, and recommended resources for other families and educators.
Avatar f tn But waht i wanted to comment was something i read here from a poster about some meds for RLS... mirapex and requip... it seems they increase the dopamine levels with some side effects not to get overlooked by someone with addiction issues... The poster shared her experience with mirapex of getting addicted to gambling. It can happen. She even left a link of a documental made in Canada about this terrible effect of mirapex.
Avatar f tn Exactly the same thing, one week after flu mist. Lasted about 3-4 weeks.
Avatar m tn Hello, Childhood tics are not uncommon. The majority of children simply outgrow them. There are prescription medications that can help reduce the frequency and severity of tics, but they generally come with negative side effects. Most patients with tics or Tourette's do not require medication and simply learn to cope with their tics. The vast majority of Tourette's cases are in children and adolescents, and rarely does it continue into adulthood.
Avatar m tn It could be any number of things, the most likely being post-nasal drip due to sinus infection, a cold, virus, allergies etc... Trying giving him an antihistamine and see if that helps. Or an age-appropriate child's cold medicine. The air could be dry and irritating this throat. Try having him suck on children's throat lozenges, or drink something when it happens.
Avatar f tn What kind of tics Tourette's can a 5 month infant can have?
