mirapex and side effects

Sinemet, Mirapex, Requip and Neurontin. All helped for a while but needed increasing doses and the side effects and augmentation became intolerable. I now use a TENS Unit before bedtime, and it has done as well for me as the meds after their initial usefulness waned. I was on so many meds that made me nauseous I wasn't sure which caused what. But I puked a lot for a while. Somehow I guess I became more tolerant because it did nearly stop. Maybe your body will adjust too.

I have read the awful side effects of behavior with Mirapex and also think anything that works on the dopamine in your brain is risky and they warn of gambling or other things, like shopping. That is me. I like to look nice and shop too much. I use a walker and handcontrols on my car - somehow, I think my style counteracts the walker and the hand controls. Crazy, ins't it?. The last five years before I retired was before Mirapex and it was literally HELL.

My symptoms become more apparent about an hour after taking medication. I looked at the side effects and this is not one of them. Is it possible to have an allergic reaction to this medication?

He determined this to be rare side effects from Requip. Took me off straightaway. I hated that because it worked so well, but side effects were intolerable. This as of April 28th. Was started on Sinemet. Was told this does not work as well as Requip, but was less likely to have same side effects. Said he could add darvocet if necesary.Also take ativan 1mg 3 x daily since the brain surgery, and 1-2 at night for help with sleep. Every other sleep aid made above symptoms worse.

mirapex and requip... it seems they increase the dopamine levels with some side effects not to get overlooked by someone with addiction issues... The poster shared her experience with mirapex of getting addicted to gambling. It can happen. She even left a link of a documental made in Canada about this terrible effect of mirapex. So just in case, be aware of this or research in case you are given those meds.

I was wondering if anybody else on sub. experience side effects? One of my biggest is tiredness and lack of motivation.. Whats everybody elses? I've been on 16mg for 4yrs now. Down from 32mg.

i am sorry that any of us who is suffering from this drugs effects i hope there is something that can be done an reverse what this has done to us...if anyone has had simaler side effects as me plz let me know i am a nervous wreck.... I have RLS and take Mirapex, .25mg about an hour before bed. It has worked great for me. I tried the Gabapentin and got up to 1200 mg - which was also taken before bed, but it did nothing for me. I have been told that Mirapex works much better than Ropinerol - you may want to talk to your doc about Mirapex as an option - it just went generic.

Well, the Soma you're only supposed to take for two or three weeks, so if it's been that long, that's it for that drug. You're not supposed to take Wellbutrin with Clonazepam, so your doc will need to guide you in getting off the Wellbutrin slowly. Sometimes the frustration pain causes can depress a person, but you've got pain under control, so you might can see will the doc not give a replacement antidepressant for a while.

I have heard the side effects to these drugs are not nice but can make a difference to your life, i just talked to another lady under the same consultant and she has been on this drug and she is struggling with the side effects but it has changed her life around and she has fibro. The drug she was on was called pramipexole but there are many but do the same thing mirapexin,ropinirole (requip) which is what you were on.

ask your Dr about the combo of Mirapex .25m and Gabapentin 200m per nite. works pretty well for me but sems nothing is a permanent fix. been thru dopamine treatment, clonapin, requip, all either worked for a while but w/ side effects, or didn't work at all.

3 weeks ago I had a steroid block and Radiofrequency lesioning done on the right side of my neck and shoulder for the pain there , under my shoulderblade and down my my arm. It felt a little better for a few days after the soreness wore off. But just before doing this procedure I started having a problem with my rt side that I will try to explain. I used to think I had restless leg REALLY BAD kept me up for days.My poor hubby was beside himself . Nothing helped I tried all the meds.

About norcotic pain medication-- you need to get into pain management, and what's with that pain management doctor to get stronger medication.

I do know that taking an antidepressant without a mood stabilizer can cause mania, also I take Mirapex (a dopamine drug) to help treat my fibro and I'm under "special watch" because the dopamine meds can cause mania even in people that aren't bipolar. My husband was taking Mirapex as well for his fibro and he had to stop because it made him feel manic, and he's not bipolar. So I can't speak for the seratonin, but the dopamine can definitely make someone manic.

My doc just prescribed Mirapex for me. And it helps a great deal. It stimulates the D1, D2, D3 and D4 dopamine receptors. It is an agonist and most especially hits the D4. It really helps the pain but I'm not sure if that is because it relaxs me or if it is actually correcting a deficiency in the dopamine levels that is causing the fibro. It also stimulates something that makes me dream vividly and sleep very lightly (of course, if you dream all night long - you are sleeping lightly!

I start taking meds as stated on the bottle faithlfully for a week during which I get a major head ache for three days (one of side effects) figured fine it will go away, and it did, next my daughter asked me what was wrong with me. I asked why she said you are not yourself you are not talking you just sit there. PLMD, RLS and apnea. My neuro put me on mirapex immediately upon seeing the results. I actually feel like myself again. My doctor tried giving me clonazepam 1 mg 2 nights ago, I walked the floors and tossed and turned all night. I called my doctor, and she said to increase my clonazepam to 2mg before bed. and suddenly started having problems? If my sleep study confirms the RLS, and I start mirapex or something similiar... please.... someone tell me it cured them. I love my job, my husband, and my kids.... I'm so afraid the fatigue is going to interfere with the poeple and things I love.

Currently, there is a generic available for Mirapex (Pramipexole) and it is made by TEVA pharmaceuticals. It comes in the 0.125mg, 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, and 1.5mg strength tablets.

I also take Mirapex and it works well for me. I also have eaten bananas and that helps...google rls and see if you can find any other ideas.
