Mirapex side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Mirapex side effects

mirapex

487070 tn?1313665952 I hate the side effects but it seems to be working for the most part. I understand it is mainly used for Parkinson's diasease and sometimes RLS. Does anyone take this for their RLS? If so how much? Supossedly it helps increase Dopmine levels which PLMD and Parkinson disorders have in common.I'm not sure if RLS is caused by low Dopamine or not. I feel like YUCK. I have had a dry, horse throat all winter & I think it may be a side effect.
Avatar n tn My symptoms become more apparent about an hour after taking medication. I looked at the side effects and this is not one of them. Is it possible to have an allergic reaction to this medication?
Avatar f tn mirapex and requip... it seems they increase the dopamine levels with some side effects not to get overlooked by someone with addiction issues... The poster shared her experience with mirapex of getting addicted to gambling. It can happen. She even left a link of a documental made in Canada about this terrible effect of mirapex. So just in case, be aware of this or research in case you are given those meds.
351846 tn?1273615544 I was wondering if anybody else on sub. experience side effects? One of my biggest is tiredness and lack of motivation.. Whats everybody elses? I've been on 16mg for 4yrs now. Down from 32mg.
Avatar n tn I have been on Ropinerole for some years - 2mg @ 6pm, another 1mg at 3am. This has kept the RLS under control but about 7pm has sent me to sleep - most inconvenient for evening meetings! Today my specialist put me on Gabapentin - 100mg twice a day for one week, increasing by 100mg per dose per week up to 600mg in the sixth week. I have therefore stopped the Ropinerole. What I forget to ask is what time of day/night it is best to take the Gabapentin capsules.

279948 tn?1241270076 I have read the awful side effects of behavior with Mirapex and also think anything that works on the dopamine in your brain is risky and they warn of gambling or other things, like shopping. That is me. I like to look nice and shop too much. I use a walker and handcontrols on my car - somehow, I think my style counteracts the walker and the hand controls. Crazy, ins't it?. The last five years before I retired was before Mirapex and it was literally HELL.
Avatar m tn You might want to, if money allows, try a pain clinic that teaches techniques such as biofeedback and deep breathing and meditation. Some people have found they can significantly decrease the amount of medication they use through these techniques. Might not work, but worth a try, because on that many meds you're going to have a lot of side effects, especially the oxy, but not limited to it.
Avatar f tn He determined this to be rare side effects from Requip. Took me off straightaway. I hated that because it worked so well, but side effects were intolerable. This as of April 28th. Was started on Sinemet. Was told this does not work as well as Requip, but was less likely to have same side effects. Said he could add darvocet if necesary. Also take ativan 1mg 3 x daily since the brain surgery, and 1-2 at night for help with sleep. Every other sleep aid made above symptoms worse.

But it is known to cause side effects – Headache ,Nausea , Back pain, Nervousness and anxiety, Upset stomach and diarrhea, Inflammation of the tissues in the nose (rhinitis) ,Problems sleeping (insomnia) and Dizziness. 749148 tn?1302860959 hands... she prescribed Mirapex. I have not started it yet and wondered if anyone out there is using this medication and what your thoughts are. She recommended a TENS unit for the rib pain I guess it's caused from a miss-firing message between my spinal cord and my brain, even though no lesions showed on my thoracic MRI doesn't mean they are not there...hummmm.
230948 tn?1235844329 I have heard the side effects to these drugs are not nice but can make a difference to your life, i just talked to another lady under the same consultant and she has been on this drug and she is struggling with the side effects but it has changed her life around and she has fibro. The drug she was on was called pramipexole but there are many but do the same thing mirapexin, ropinirole (requip) which is what you were on.
515698 tn?1211489523 It helped a little so they kept increasing it. Another Dr took me off because of side effects, then did requip . Very little help. Back to Mirapex. Problem is that if I waited to long to take it and fell asleep, then nothing would stop it . It became a monster of it's own. My DH thought I was going to die before I got some rest. It would go on for 72 hr with out stopping and no one else knew what to do.
Avatar f tn /8 hrs), this formula has worked great for me for both pain and RLS. however with all these medications are going to have their own side effects or maybe the side effects from this one will be different than the other. About norcotic pain medication-- you need to get into pain management, and what's with that pain management doctor to get stronger medication.
Avatar n tn I start taking meds as stated on the bottle faithlfully for a week during which I get a major head ache for three days (one of side effects) figured fine it will go away, and it did, next my daughter asked me what was wrong with me. I asked why she said you are not yourself you are not talking you just sit there. I didn't notice a change then on the 7th day I had a major melt down hives uncontrolable crying, the feeling of being lost major uncontrolable shaking.
410281 tn?1254229064 PLMD, RLS and apnea. My neuro put me on mirapex immediately upon seeing the results. I actually feel like myself again. I had no idea that I was sleeping so poorly, especially after hearing about so much fatigue from my friends here. I can wake up and actually be awake!! I still shake, twitch, jerk and am quite tingly. But sleeping well sure makes it all more manageable... So for those of you with sleep disorders, or that think you might, ASK about Mirapex!
1154672 tn?1262222616 I have severe Restless leg Syndrome. I have been on Mirapex for about 6 years now, and never had a problem. I am unemployed now, and do not have any health insurance. My doctor has been great to give me samples, however; they are out of them right now. My doctor tried giving me clonazepam 1 mg 2 nights ago, I walked the floors and tossed and turned all night. I called my doctor, and she said to increase my clonazepam to 2mg before bed.
Avatar m tn I think the one you are thinking about is called Hylands and it is a supplement.
Avatar n tn Hi - my neurologist has recently put me on 2400 mg of Gabapentin per day for severe RLS, along with the .5 mg Mirapex and .5 mg Clonazepam I am already on. I also had a double bypass about 1 1/2 years ago and am on a lot of different heart meds. For the past two days I have been experiencing numbness in my left arm and hand. I called my pharmiscist just now and he says it is a side effect to the Gabapentin but I should get use to it in a few days. I worry because it is my left arm.
Avatar n tn I just started taking Copaxone, last Friday. The injection site reactions are the biggest side effects with Copaxone. I've had no other side effects other than a little bit of anxiety after a shot was given and a feeling of something being different--which has gone away. The injection site reactions looked pretty impressionable, at first. The first five days they were about the size of a baseball of red area with about a half-dollar sized fluid-filled middle area.
Avatar n tn t know about the Monavie but what I take and is wonderful is Mirapex. I take it 3 times a day and have no restless legs unless I skip a dose or run out and then the RLS returns. I hope this has helped.
