I had the same problem. My doc also prescribed miralax. Im already swamped with other meds, so I decided to go natural to reduce the constipation. Try eating brown (wheat) instead of white and lots of green veggies (greens, spinach). It has done wonders for me.
The beginning of my pregnancy my OB said I could take miralax to help with constipation, but now that I am 37w4d is it safe to take? I don't want to take it if it's going to affect baby in any way.
Has anyone had miralax?
I am 10wks preggo and was wondering if Miralax is safe to take for constipation during pregnancy....I am very constipated and have been drinking Metamucil 2 times a day without any effectiveness....my husband is a pharmacist and says that it is safe because it doesn't enter the bloodstream, but I do not want to take something unless I know that it is safe. I have seen where it is category c. Thanks for your help....
I was given iron supplements as a baby, grew up and have experienced constipation off and on as long as I can recall. I am 30 years old now, have taken Miralax on a daily basis for over a year (a friend of mine who was a nurse said it was safe as it does not alter your colon, only draws in water), and have no problems defecating.
As long as you use opiates or synthetic opiates you will fight constipation, plane and simple. Me too. Like Vicki said "Miralax" is what I use. Walmarts got a copy, don't recall the name. You have probably already tried to notice which foods stop you up. If your intestines are alright, then it's a fiber thing. And of course water. I've had part of my gut's removed and fight it every single day.
he told me that I could use miralax and gatorade and it would be fine..I mean really I got the bathroom anywhere from 2 to 7 times a day, the prep is all I need to push me over the top...so I am hoping that I will be able to tolerate the prep and the colonoscopy will go fine.
A couple of other things, I do take things over the counter to attempt to slow down this condition..
As I recall, the solution was also pretty expensive, whereas you can buy a bottle of Miralax and some Crystal light packets for about $10 - $15. The drawback with the Miralax solution is that you have to drink an entire gallon of it (1/2 gallon - 1 - 8 oz glass every 20 minutes, then later, the other 1/2 gallon at the same 20 minute intervals). This, in addition to lots of water or other clear liquids as instructed by your doctor.

I've got a concern that is probably rooted in anxiety. I recently messed around with this friend of mine. I didn't have sex with her and I had my boxers on while making out (her pants were off), but it's possible I slipped a bit out of the flyhole, which concerns me because I think there were some smallish red spots on her thighs. Not a whole bunch of them or anything, just kind of one here and one there.
The next day I went back to the doctor and she said the x Ray showed I had lots of stool and prescribed Miralax and ranitidine because she thought the abdominal pain was caused by acid. I took Miralax for two weeks and it stopped the bloating I had a follow up on April 7th. Before the follow up I went on that Monday because I had blood in my stool the emergency Doctor of the clinic said it was an anal fissure and increased the miralax to three caps.
Smooth, round, same color as my throat and about the size of a top of a Q-tip. No pain. I seem to recall seeing this bump months before so I do not consider it new. After google-ing bump in throat I seem to only come up with HPV warts. So of course now I am worried sick I have HPV in the throat. I went to doctor today and he told me it's nothing to worry about, maybe a normal, small growth of some type and to just keep an eye.
have been on miralax and nothing is helping... what could be the cause or some possible symptoms?
This is on top of a strong oral medication (Amitiza) and magnesium. With Miralax, I get the stuff in the bottle and take 1 1/2 capfuls once a day and as needed.
A lady I have chemo with (also on topo), mixes the Miralax in warm prune juice and says it works great. You can also take stool softeners with the Miralax. Hopefully, the chemo will take care of the tumors on/by your Mom's colon.
IF your Mom goes on iron, there is a new pill "HEMAX" (an Rx) that is a combo of Vitamin C, Iron, and stool softener. You need to take iron with Vitamin C for good absorption.

t gone in almost a week, again, and all my doctor tells me to use is Miralax or a stool softener. Both have worked OK in the past to temporarily fix the problem, but today, I got severe nausea and cramps with really sharp pain in my stomach. I went poop, but I have no idea why it hurt so much to take the Miralax. My doctor won't give me any other advice to fix this problem. I'm starting to get really frightened that it won't go away.
