Avatar m tn I have all of the symptoms, no money to get tested. I do have some old minocycline and tetracycline from old acne.
Avatar m tn You have found some rather peculiar information on the web. The tetracycline antibiotics (tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline) have absolutely no effect on reliability of HIV testing. We use doxycycline all the time in STD clinics -- in fact, one of the most common antibiotics we prescribe -- and we certainly don't hesitate to do HIV tests on people who have taken it recently. In fact, there are NO drugs that are known to have any effect on any HIV tests.
Avatar m tn It says that minodene belongs to a class of drugs called tetracycline and the active substance is minocycline as minocycline hydrochloride dihydrate. Still no difference to the result??
Avatar n tn thank you so much for responding. i was given this monocyline Hcl 100mg with cream which has this oleanolic acid formula.is this cream for acne scars or acne?or for both?i have been using both tablet and cream for 20 days.i didn't see much of the change in fadeness of scars or maybe it takes time.please let me know what is this cream exactly for.
Avatar m tn Alternatively, the situation you describe, as well as the rash suggests a form or tetracycline (doxycycline is a member of the tetracycline family) allergy called a fixed drug eruption. If this is what is going on, it will continue to fade but will recur if you take tetracycline family medications (tetracycline, doxycycline and minocycline). You lack of recent sexual activity, as well as the description make it unlikely this is a sign of genital warts or HPV infection.
Avatar f tn I have been on Zoloft for about 7 months now, after dealing with crippling anxiety and depression. this medicine really worked wonders! recently I was put on Minocycline for my chronic forehead and shoulder acne, and I was all for the idea of clear skin, whether I had to take pills or not. ever since, slowly but surely, my anxiety is making a reappearance, along with my depression, both of which I thought were long gone.
Avatar n tn Peri-oral dermatitis responds well to oral antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline or minocycline. It is better to persevere with one antibiotic for a fair trial rather than switching to another antibiotic too soon. Acne responds very slowly to oral antibiotics so be patient. You may need repeat prescriptions for as long as you are prone to acne. Roaccutane is usually reserved for cystic acne and it may increase the redness associated with peri-oral dermatitis.
Avatar f tn tetracycline, doxycycline (Vibramycin), Minocin (minocycline) Sulfa drugs - if near delivery (because they can increase the chance of serious newborn jaundice)
Avatar n tn For the last two weeks, I've noticed that my stools are distinctly light colored-tan or "clay" as I have read on-line. I have had intestinal problems for most of my adult life so I have not noticed any other symptoms outside my ususal discomfort. The only other problem I've had recently is mid section weight gain which could be attributed to so many other things. I have also been on antibiotics for almost two years for ocular rosacea and blepharitis.
Avatar f tn A large double-blind trial (332 participants) compared 30 mg daily of zinc against a tetracycline-family medication often used for acne (minocycline at 100 mg daily). The results showed minocycline is more effective than zinc. Tetracycline taken at a dose of 250 mg daily, appears to be no more effective than zinc, but when taken at 500 mg daily it seems to be considerably more effective.
Avatar f tn I recently read about a genetic test called AcneDX that tests whether or not oral antibiotics will be an effective acne treatment. My teenaged daughter has moderate acne and tetracycline has been suggested. I'm concerned about giving her a medication that may have side effects and produce an antibiotic resistance later in her life, and it may not even work to clear her acne up. The test sounds like a great way to find out prior to treatment if the antibiotics will help.
Avatar n tn Since you feel the lesions are worsening, you either need to stop the application of Azelaic acid or supplement it with oral anti-biotic like (tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline) which is the first line of treatment for Rosacea. Ref:http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn For people with more severe cases, doctors often prescribe an oral (taken by mouth) antibiotic. Tetracycline, minocycline, erythromycin, and doxycycline are the most common antibiotics used to treat rosacea. Some people respond quickly, while others require long-term therapy. Isotretinoin may be considered as a treatment option for all forms of severe or therapy-resistant rosacea.
Avatar n tn In regards to treatment, first line of therapy would be topical metronidazole concurrently with oral tetracycline, or doxycycline or minocycline for 2,5 – 3 months. Systemic erythromycin is recommended in children, pregnant and nursing mothers and tetracycline-allergic patients. Second line of topical therapy could be erythromycin, clindamycin, azalaic acid or sulfur preparations.
Avatar f tn If you are having inflammatory acne then tetracycline or doxycycline or minocycline; benzoyl peroxide 5% gel; azelaic acid 20% cream; clindamycin 1% lotion or cream; erythromycin 2% gel or cream. If you are having recalcitrant acne in women then probably oral contraceptive containing norgestimate 0.25 mg and ethinyl estradiol 0.035 mg; spironolactone; prednisone. If you have acne where sweating is an aggravating factor then aluminum chloride solution should be your choice of your treatment.

Avatar n tn Dear sir/madam, I am writing this letter to get advice and help regarding my scalp folliculitis. I’ve had this condition for the past 6 years. I’ve tried different treatments including antibiotics like Amoxicillin, erythromycin, minocycline, tetracycline, doxicycline, & ciprofloxacin each course taken for at least 6 months to 1 year. I have also tried topical treatment like Fucidin, Mupirocin, clindamycin and gentamicin.
Avatar f tn Tetralysal is a brand of tetracycline, I just realised that minocycline is the most severe of the tetracycline brand. Is there any way you could try a different type under the tetracycline brand or have you already? I don't mean to pry here but why did you come off the pill and what type was it? Like I said i don't mean to pry, I'm just trying to get the full picture. How long have you had skin problems for, is it only since coming off the pill?
Avatar f tn At a recent visit to my doctors office she informed me that the blurred vision was caused by protein deposits on my eye. Is there anyway to get rid of the protein deposits or to minimize the severity of blurriness that I have in the vision in my right eye? Please let me know if there is anything that I can do.

Avatar f tn A mild soap or soap substitute, such as Dove or Cetaphil should be used for washing. Scrubbing should be avoided. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
