I have been reading that minocycline can cause black thyroid in some people and can take up to a year to reverse after stopping medication. it is given to teenagers for acne and my son was on it for 6 mths twice a day having severe headaches yet the dr ignored it until I googled and realized that it could be effecting his thyroid and causing the headaches since those were listed as symptoms and wondered if anyone else ran into that.....his thyroid test did come back 4.6 with the top normal of 4.
t really understand what the connection was, but I wanted to know if I could trust my HIV test results even though I am on Minocycline, and was for months before, during, and after my HIV test.
Also, just to ease my mind, is there ANYTHING else that could effect the validity of an HIV test (aspirin, menstrual cycle, diet, anything)?

I know you said this thread is ended but could you please take a look at this and tell me what you think of it and could this data indicate that minocycline could indeed slow down replication making it possible for delayed seroconversion, which would make my test at the 5 month mark inaccurate.

This is where all of my anxiety has came from.
The test was a rapid antibody test. Can someone please weigh in and tell me could minocycline possibly be used as a PEP drug for HIV? And if so, should I be worried about my status? Should I test again?
I'm worried because I read on the web minocycline is an investigatory drug for HIV that has been shown to reduce replication of the virus.

3% not as strong as the retin a mico 0.1% i was on and minocycline 100 mg daily to 40 mg a day oracea for only redness and not pimples would help ?seems like it would make it worse..please explain...
My doctor prescribed me minocycline and I started taking it for about four days and then found out I was pregnant. I have stopped taking it since, but now I've read some of the birth defects that it causes and I'm really scared. I'm only about 5 weeks and was just wondering if someone could give some more in depth info on the possibilities of something happening to my baby. I was taking 100mg twice a day.
I am a 14 year old girl and my whole life I've been very happy, I've never had any real issues.. the only thing is I had a bit of anxiety. I would always be so afraid that my friends secretly didn't like me or had to check and make sure the door was locked or the stove was off several times, and many other irrational such as people dying, etc.
I would like to suggest a Depersonalization and Derealization forum. Depersonalization is a very distinct and disabling psychological condition. I know for a fact that the forum would be beneficial to many.
I've been experiencing horrible derealization and depersonalization which leads to these massive panic attacks. They occur while I am in my own home and really cripple me when I decide I want to leave my house. That leads to my agoraphobia, which is a seperate matter I suppose.
I was hoping someone could suggesst any medications for my derealization and depersonalization. I've heard for many years now that there are none. I have even tried beta blockers for help.

I was prescribed minocycline for my acne on the 21st of December and started taking it that day, found out on the 27th of January that I am pregnant with my first baby and I am driving myself crazy with worry! Everything I've read is telling me that minocycline is extremely bad to take while pregnant or becoming pregnant.
I started minocycline feb 10 and conceived my baby feb 21 but i didnt stop the medicine until march 9 ( only because i didnt know i was preg) im 7 weeks now and i just wanna know has anybody else expericed this with a positive outcome ?
All, I recently had a standard STD screen and my RDR test showed positive and came back at 1:8 for the quant. test. I have a scalp condition I've had for years that my dermatologist treats with 200mg daily of minocycline. I'm wondering 2 things:
1) Could the same scalp condition cause the RDR test to show a false-positive? Especially a 1:8 reading?
2) If it IS truly positive, is Minocycline 200mg daily (which I've taken for 2+ yrs) sufficient to treat for syphillis?
I was off minocycline for five days before I started birth control,as starting will the minocycline still be in my system and effect the birth control?
I could not find a testing location in our rural location, read about Gonorrhea and knew that was my issue, I had discharge, pain while urinating. I took some of her Minocycline 200 MG for two days and three days of 100MG ALL SYMTOMS disappeared. I abstained from sex and took my first appointment at testing center in the city which was last Friday. They gave me a shot of antibiotics and two huge antibiotic pills, and did all the testing.
I am deathly afraid that is what this is. Hopefully everything is just anxiety and depersonalization and I can just get on meds and therapy will help me slowly go back to normal. I saw my boyfriend last night for the first time and it felt so unreal seeing him again and I had to touch his face over and over until I felt comfortable that it was him and this was real. I'm sorry I don't mean to keep repeating myself I just don't want to go crazy and feel that I am.
hi there, that was me bk in 2008 i was in a mess for well over 2 months untill my doctor prescribed me effexor (venlafaxine) 75mg and then it was still another 4-5weeks untill i felt great and bk to normal. then i fell pregnant with my 3rd baby 4month after and my doctor dropped my dose to 37.5mg to be on the safe side for the baby as he would have side effects after he was born and he did but only little and now hes fine like any normal cheeky 2 year old.ha ha.
I experienced depersonalization with an anxiety attack the other night. Man was it weird. Maybe you should talk to your mental health care provider about it if it becomes chronic and interferes with your everyday life. I have only experienced derealization once and depersonalization once. I couldn't imagine experiencing it on a daily basis, because man is it weird, lol.
OH..........almost forgot. One time it happened to me at home and I got into bed and pulled the covers over my head. I think it worked on the therory as a sensory deprivation chamber but blocking out all the stimuli. It didn't make it stop completely, but I know it didn't last nearly as long, was not as frightening and I didn't feel as odd afterwards.
is it possible that the amemia and the headaches from the infection may be cause me to have more depersonalization? because the dp was really intense where i was completely disconnected and things really did look flat and i could barely tell if it was in a dream or not.
