Metoprolol interactions

Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol interactions

Avatar n tn I have been having some strange symptoms since starting metoprolol as a migraine preventative. My head feels like it weighs a ton, and there is a lot of pressure up there, too. I've also been experiencing blurry vision and some concentration issues. I also take lithium, trazodone and neurontin and a rare xanax.
Avatar m tn Hello, There are no reported interactions between vitamin B12 and metoprolol. Metoprolol has interactions with food. Food can enhance the levels of metoprolol in your body. You should take metoprolol at the same time each day, preferably with or immediately following meals. This will make it easier for your body to absorb the medication. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar m tn I currently take Amiodarone 200mg a day, Metoprolol 100mg a day, Prilosec OTC 40mg a day. I have occasional Atrial Fibrillation. I was put on the Metoprolol in 2004 (my dosage is much lower now) and the Amiodarone in July 2008. I suffer greatly from panic attacks and extreme anxiety. My doctor prescribed Zoloft for me at 25mg a day for two weeks, then 50mg a day thereafter. He knows all the meds I currently take, of course.

Avatar f tn She switched me to 100mg ER Metoprolol to take in the morning and 20mg lisinopril for the night. I had to take my bp every day and went back every week. Every week it would be high at the dr Office and she would increase the lisinopril. Mind you, I didn't take prescription anything prior to this except maybe an antibiotic when needed. Now I'm on these high doses of bp meds. Initially I thought well I'll get used to them, there's always an adjustment time.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with PVC's 15 years ago and was put on Metoprolol 25 mg. I've now been diagnosed with depression and was prescribed Prozac 10 mg which I'm afraid to take now because of the drug interactions I've seen on the internet with these two drugs. Can I run into problems by combining these two drugs.
Avatar n tn My father-in-law is 76 years old and has been having fainting spells along with stomach upset and dizziness. His previous doctor had him on Nifedipin XL 60 mg and Metoprolol ER 25 mg. He takes the Nifedipin at night?? and the metoprolol in the morning. All his fainting spells occur at night. They hospitilized him for one week but found nothing wrong with him. Is it possible they didn't consider the drug interactions or the dosing schedule as responsible for the fainting?
Avatar f tn I'm currently on 12.5mg of metoprolol succinate and 50mg sertraline and my doctor wants me to stop taking the beta blocker. He told me that just stopping it on 12.5 should be ok but I have concerns. I read that taking the two together can cause more levels of beta blocker to be in the system than normal due to how the liver processes both medications. Should I just stop it at 12.5 or should I taper down further to 6.25mg? Anyone else stop taking Toprol XL while on Zoloft?

Avatar n tn Eventhough co-administration of celexa and metoprolol has increased plasma levels of metoprolol, it had no clinically significant effects on blood pressure or heart rate. There are no known studies done with a combination of celexa and corgard. I would recommend you to discuss with your physician in detail about your concern regarding the medications. I hope this information is helpful to you.

I have a factor XII deficiency and will be on coumadin the rest of my life and Tues my INR was 7.1 - drawn Tues evening. Yesterday I was instructed to go to an ER and it was down to a whopping 5.9.
Avatar n tn the metoprolol is broken down in the liver, by an enzyme. But the Celexa inhibits that enzyme. So you can end up with too much of the metoprolol in your system. You can thereby have heart rate or blood pressure too low, or worse. it seems that reducing the metoprolol can be an option, then increasing it gradually as long as no symptoms occur.
Avatar f tn com/drug-interactions/methimazole.html There are interactions shown. Did you test positive for meth? It is unclear. Interactions are not the same as creating a false positive though. I would need to know what showed in the testing, what type of test was done.
