Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol interactions
I have been having some strange symptoms since starting metoprolol as a migraine preventative. My head feels like it weighs a ton, and there is a lot of pressure up there, too. I've also been experiencing blurry vision and some concentration issues. I also take lithium, trazodone and neurontin and a rare xanax.
There are no reported interactions between vitamin B12 and metoprolol. Metoprolol has interactions with food. Food can enhance the levels of metoprolol in your body. You should take metoprolol at the same time each day, preferably with or immediately following meals. This will make it easier for your body to absorb the medication.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
I currently take Amiodarone 200mg a day, Metoprolol 100mg a day, Prilosec OTC 40mg a day. I have occasional Atrial Fibrillation. I was put on the Metoprolol in 2004 (my dosage is much lower now) and the Amiodarone in July 2008. I suffer greatly from panic attacks and extreme anxiety. My doctor prescribed Zoloft for me at 25mg a day for two weeks, then 50mg a day thereafter. He knows all the meds I currently take, of course.
will taking metoprolol with ginko biloba cause any adverse effects? I am currently taking metoprolol for my blood pressure and i am not sure whether or not i can continue taking ginko biloba concomitantly.
She switched me to 100mg ER Metoprolol to take in the morning and 20mg lisinopril for the night. I had to take my bp every day and went back every week.
Every week it would be high at the dr Office and she would increase the lisinopril. Mind you, I didn't take prescription anything prior to this except maybe an antibiotic when needed. Now I'm on these high doses of bp meds. Initially I thought well I'll get used to them, there's always an adjustment time.
I was diagnosed with PVC's 15 years ago and was put on Metoprolol 25 mg. I've now been diagnosed with depression and was prescribed Prozac 10 mg which I'm afraid to take now because of the drug interactions I've seen on the internet with these two drugs. Can I run into problems by combining these two drugs.
My father-in-law is 76 years old and has been having fainting spells along with stomach upset and dizziness. His previous doctor had him on Nifedipin XL 60 mg and Metoprolol ER 25 mg. He takes the Nifedipin at night?? and the metoprolol in the morning. All his fainting spells occur at night. They hospitilized him for one week but found nothing wrong with him. Is it possible they didn't consider the drug interactions or the dosing schedule as responsible for the fainting?
I'm currently on 12.5mg of metoprolol succinate and 50mg sertraline and my doctor wants me to stop taking the beta blocker. He told me that just stopping it on 12.5 should be ok but I have concerns. I read that taking the two together can cause more levels of beta blocker to be in the system than normal due to how the liver processes both medications. Should I just stop it at 12.5 or should I taper down further to 6.25mg? Anyone else stop taking Toprol XL while on Zoloft?
I am going to be applying to receive a medical marijuana card for treatment of my Tourette, severe anxiety disorder and PTSD. I take 25mg of Metoprolol Tartrate every morning solely for anxiety to slow my heart rate down (I tend to get anxiety episodes where tachycardia is the main symptom). I’m wondering if anyone (preferably a doctor, of course) would know if medical cannabis would interact with beta blockers, such as Metoprolol Tartrate.
Can I take Metoprolol Succinate and Indole 3 Carbinol without any drug interactions?
I have been taking Metoprolol Succinate for tachycardia for a few years now and have gained weight I was watching the Dr. Oz show and he recommended takig Indole 3 Carbinol for people who carry more weight on the bottom half of their body. It just being vegetables wouldnt seem to effect anything, but I'm juat asking to be on the safe side. I have tried doing my own research but I have not found anything.
and I am reading its benefits in supporting heart health as well. My concern is if there would be any negative interactions that may occur if this suppliment is taken along with prescribed meds such as metoprolol, plavix and zestril.Would you have any information on this?
Eventhough co-administration of celexa and metoprolol has increased plasma levels of metoprolol, it had no clinically significant effects on blood pressure or heart rate. There are no known studies done with a combination of celexa and corgard.
I would recommend you to discuss with your physician in detail about your concern regarding the medications. I hope this information is helpful to you.
They insisted at this juncture to put in a pacemaker and put her on Metoprolol, Warfarin, CartiaXT (cardizem), and her usual Norvasc and Atakan.
Since this episode and these medications, she has experienced extreme swelling of the lower extremities and now a painful tingling that starts in the late afternoon each and every day and no exercise diminishes the swelling, so she puts them up.

Is there a web page that exclusively addresses interactions with coumadin and other meds? I have a factor XII deficiency and will be on coumadin the rest of my life and Tues my INR was 7.1 - drawn Tues evening. Yesterday I was instructed to go to an ER and it was down to a whopping 5.9.
the metoprolol is broken down in the liver, by an enzyme. But the Celexa inhibits that enzyme. So you can end up with too much of the metoprolol in your system. You can thereby have heart rate or blood pressure too low, or worse.
it seems that reducing the metoprolol can be an option, then increasing it gradually as long as no symptoms occur.
There are interactions shown. Did you test positive for meth? It is unclear.
Interactions are not the same as creating a false positive though.
I would need to know what showed in the testing, what type of test was done.
That's what I'd do and I'd also search for interactions on the web,
Your dose of Metoprolol sounds very strange, 23.75 mg ?? Could it be 25 mg?
Here's a new one on me. I've been washing down my 50 mg of Metoprolol SR with orange juice every morning. Then this morning I read that orange juice can reduce the effectiveness of Beta and Calcium Channel Blockers. The advice said space fruit juice at least 4 hours from taking BB or CCB.
I am advised to take Ramipril 5mg, Sustained Release Metoprolol Succinate 50mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, Atorvastatin 10mg, Aspirin 75mg,and Telmisatan 80 mg every day. I am also suffering from Hypothyroidism since 1980 and taking 125mg Thyroxine Sodium. I suffered from Gout in the year 2007 and am taking Allopurinol 100mg (tab.zyloric).
Please advise if the medication stated above is correct.
My breathing becomes heavy on physical exercise.
I have high blood pressure and would like to be able to control it without the Metoprolol Tartrate adn Amlodipine Besylate I currently take. I read that grape seed extract is good for High Blood Pressure. Is it safe to take it with the medicines I already take to possibly help keep it lowered?
I have been given Advair to take for my copd, but one side effect is fast and irregular heart beat, chest pain and increased BP----I take Metoprolol succ er for my PSVT---
-Will the Advair Diskus work against my metoprolol meds?
I am alllergic to Penasylin, tetrocycoline, decadron, dyphahidromine, and benedril.
My other meds I take are: zolof, welbrutrin, seroquel xr, gabapentine, tizanidine hcl and pravastatin sodium----will there be any adverse reactions to any of these meds?
I take metoprolol 25 mg 3 x's daily for high blood pressure and heart palpitations. I also take lamictal 200 mg and seroquel 25 mg at night. I have absolutely NO energy, and could sit on my couch all day everyday if my three yr old son and husband would allow it. My question is would it be safe to combine with the medicine I'm currently taking along with provigil and topomax. The provigil to give me energy and topomax to help with weight gain and frequent headaches.
Been on Atenolol (for 15 years) then switched to Metoprolol when the Aten quit stopping the palpitations. Well..I havent felt "right" for a while now. Tired, always feel like I have a SLIGHT case of vertigo..not really dizzy..but...off.... I kept up with my workouts and every other crazy thing in my life. Went to the cardiac workout place on Wed of last week to workout, and I was telling the tecnician about how I had been feeling.
