443862 tn?1238003039 Is anyone taking metoprolol? It's driving me nuts! I do have anxiety disorder. And of course knowing they gave me this to lower my heart rate makes me nervous. And with my anxiety disorder I am taking my blood pressure every hour. I know that doesn't help. But dealing with the metoprolol, it has dropped me to 88/55 at times, today 112/73, then 93/55 then 142/70. I get hot flashes, shakes, tingling arms, a general feeling of panic when I see my reading is low or I feel the shakes....
1679876 tn?1304747215 I have been given Advair to take for my copd, but one side effect is fast and irregular heart beat, chest pain and increased BP----I take Metoprolol succ er for my PSVT--- -Will the Advair Diskus work against my metoprolol meds? I am alllergic to Penasylin, tetrocycoline, decadron, dyphahidromine, and benedril. My other meds I take are: zolof, welbrutrin, seroquel xr, gabapentine, tizanidine hcl and pravastatin sodium----will there be any adverse reactions to any of these meds?
Avatar n tn In pts with CAD on BB, ie., metoprolol, with newly diagnosed severe COPD, what is the appropriate recommendation for BB therapy. Should patient be tapered and switched to diltiazem/verapamil or continued? If continued, what about if they are taking high dose per day of metoprolol, ie., >=100mg daily.
Avatar f tn I seem to be having trouble finding a BP medicine that works and also doesn't pose addition problems with my COPD. The Metoprolol and Amlodipine kept things in fair control but Metoprolol aggravated my already low functioning lungs. Now I am on Losartan and at first I thought it was working. But maybe that was just because I still had the Metoprolol in my system. In any event, once again my breathing function is worse. I started off on Lisinopril with a different doctor.
790137 tn?1318068025 I identified the root of the problem as the Metoprolol but my cardiologist just kept upping the dosage. Now I have COPD but they want to blame it on my previous smoking. I say that to say you should not only see a cardiologist but investigate what side effects your meds might come with.
5707348 tn?1372788697 My husband was being treated for HBP with Atenolol and another drug. His blood sugar shot up to the sky. I was being treated with Metoprolol for CHF; it ruined my lungs and I am now suffering with COPD as well as diabetes. The doctors cover themselves with some self-serving statement that the "benefits outweigh the negatives". What happened to the Hippocratic Oath to first do no harm?
1017020 tn?1251256924 My Grandma on my Mom's side is diagnosed with CHF and COPD. My Mom died last year during a heart cath procedure and on her autopsy report under other causes to death they listed CHF and COPD. I just turned 22 today and was wondering if there is a chance that I might end up with either of these and if so if there is any prevention I can take now to limit my chances of getting it. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Ever since, I have had shortness of breath and a slight pain right below my right collar bone when I do a deep inhale. I take Plaxiz, Metoprolol, and aspirin on a daily basis. Periodically, I feel very fatigued even though I have not done anything strenuous. Any idea why I am constantly short of breath?
Avatar m tn Also if I try to significantly limit my food intake the problem also becomes exacerbated. Exercise usually doesn't cause there to be pain. I am on 25 mg Metoprolol. Can anyone speak to why the car fumes, or limited food intake might cause the pain?
Avatar f tn The prescribing doctor WOULD NOT take me off it so I just stopped taking it and made an appointment with another doctor. I have been taking 12.5 mg of Metoprolol and 10 mg Amlodipine for about 3 months. I have COPD and something was aggravating my breathing problems. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took me off the Metoprolol and put me on 100 mg of Losartan. He told me to just stop taking the Metoprolol. I questioned starting off with such a high dose of Losartan.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have copd - emphysema but I also have a severe tremor that affects my whole body. I was prescribed 40mgs of propranolol (starting dose) to try. I took 10mgs and it caused severe breathing difficulty. If had taken the 40mgs I would have ended up in hospital. I was wondering if anyone here is on the safer beta blockers such as metoprolol or atenolol? Both of these are used for tremors and safer up to approx 100mgs for copd sufferers.
Avatar n tn What meds is your father taking? I am convinced that Metoprolol following my failed angioplasty caused me to develop COPD. I couldn't sleep lying down; couldn't walk far without stopping to gasp for air; was leaking urine all the time. Now I'm on an inhaler for the rest of my life.
Avatar m tn 280 Current Medications : amiodarone, coumadin, Allegra, levalbuterol, guaifenesen, metoprolol, paw-paw Medical Conditions : emphasema, exercise induced asthma, COPD, chronic bronchitis And I've been in and out of afib at least 2 years and I suspect much longer. Recently having high blood pressure issues.
Avatar n tn Just on Enalapril and Metoprolol extended release. Keeping my pressure in the 120-140 over 58-72 range with a HR in the 68-85 range. I have CHF with EF 10-15%, member since 1997 :) along with COPD down to 25% lung function. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn I kept complaining and my doctor kept increasing the dosage. Now I have COPD, which I attribute to the Metoprolol. I was finally taken off that med -- after it was too late. Needless to say, the doctors insisted it was my smoking alone that caused the lung disease. (I might have been tempted to accept that self-serving explanation if my father had not had a similar experience when he accidentally cut his leg badly and was put on some medication.
Avatar f tn I was scheduled for a Persantine Cardiac Stress Test as I have COPD. After 15 minutes w/my arms above my shoulders for the first scan I told them I could NOT do the second scan. They encouraged me to continue the test and they would tie my hands above my head for the second 15 minute scan. I was reluctant but agreed. My shoulders ached so bad long before the scan was finished that I asked them to undo my wrists and let my arms down and they just told me it wouldn't be that much longer.
Avatar m tn Are there other COPD sufferers out there with pectus excavatum, and how does this effect the accuracy of your FEV1 reading? According to recent chest x-ray and CT-scan I have Stage 3 COPD with chronic and widespread emphysema and bronchitis. I have been experiencing periods of extreme breathlessness and a recent sleep apnea test showed my oxygen levels drop as low as 82% when sleeping.
Avatar m tn My mother has a rapid irregular heartbeat (recently, sometimes even despite Metoprolol and Warfarin) and supposedly mild COPD with a possible touch of pneumonia and was hospitalized this weekend because she was saying she was having palpitations and was too tired to sit up and it was too hard for her to breath laying down.
Avatar n tn 5, hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg, simvastatin 10 mg, citalopram hydrobeomide 10 mg, losactan 100 mg, metoprolol tactcate 25 mg. carbamaze 200 mg. 2 X per day. lpratropium (2 sprays 4C perday), funisolade (2 sprays daily), asmanex twisthslor (1 puff daily), trazodone 50 mg as needed, Hydrocodone 5/500 as needed for pain, ranitidine 150 as needed, chlorphenramine 4 mg as needed. Avatar f tn they put the new medicated stent in. I take metoprolol, isosorbide, metformin, aspirin, buspar, effexor, nexium, pravastatin. My problem is that I still have chest pains, shortness of breath, dizziness, light headedness It wasn't to bad right after the first one but after the 2nd one it has steadily gotten worse.. My doctor has ran all the test including stress test with dye, echo cardio& blood work. Everything has come back good. He said the blood flow is good.
Avatar m tn Since the meds are causing problems w/your running you can have a good sit down discussion w/your cardiologist about the dosages and frequency of dosing and maybe even a switch to other meds in the same class(es). For instance I have COPD as well as mild A fib and ran in to some edema w/a calcium channel blocker despite the calcium channel blockers having some benefit for COPD as well. We switched to a beta blocker instead and I've done well w/the beta blocker and Rythmol.
Avatar m tn My mother (smoking 55 years) has a rapid irregular heartbeat (recently, sometimes even despite Metoprolol and Warfarin) and supposedly mild COPD with a possible touch of pneumonia and was hospitalized this weekend because she was saying she was having palpitations and was too tired to sit up and it was too hard for her to breath laying down.
Avatar n tn Is LAD bifurcation lesion difficult to stent?
668638 tn?1226218464 You don't have asthma or COPD because FX test did show some abnormalities, but nothing major he said, but I did not respond to the albuterol during the test, I am overweight, have sleep apnea, and have allergies because he said my sinuses looked really red and inflammed. He did state that I had red lesions in both lungs, but did not see any kind of mass and was not sure WHAT these lesions were, but said,"I don't think we need to worry about them for now.
Avatar f tn I also have a history of a silent heart attack, sarcoidosis, a-fib (controlled with metoprolol) - works most of the time. Also have a history of svt and COPD. Am also hoping they can do something for the a-fib so I can decrease my medication, which aggravates the asthma. Partial list - so you can see why I'm a bit nervous. Any information you can give would be helpful. B lessings!
Avatar m tn At the ER my blood samples are normal, my ECG was normal, although I had sinus tachycardia due to the panic attack and a slightly elevated blood pressure (140/70) still due to the panic attack. I also had a chest Xray for the fear of having COPD or Lung Cancer but it showed normal. My 24-hour Holter Monitor was normal although it recorded a couple of arrhythmias which still fell under the normal limits.
Avatar f tn He has had treatment with Digoxin and Metoprolol which have since been stopped and is now only taking Ramipril. He has had a repeat Echocardiogram with an EF of 55%. A great improvement.
1317224 tn?1378708734 I suffer from AFib myself, but I have never had an ablation and my resting HR goes to only about 135 if I am not taking at lest 50 mg of Metoprolol (Beta blocker). I have experienced low blood pressure when adjusting to the Beta Blocker and when I was taking up to 200 mg a day to get my HR down. I have never, however, had any loss of consciousness. I have had problems with dizziness when standing up from a resting postion, that's about it.
Avatar m tn Now, in addition to CHF, I have COPD and diabetes. I finally convinced him to stop the Metoprolol but it was too late to reverse the other damage. If you haven't already done so, go to some safe Web sites and see if you can find some ideas to follow up on with a medical specialist. Be aggressive -- and keep us informed of your progress.
Avatar m tn Hoping for a good number. Hoping the heart attack didn't do any damage. I also have COPD. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. I am now on oxygen 24/7. Wasn't on it before even with the COPD that I have had since 2000. Does anyone have any comments or opinions? Any would be suggested.
