Common Questions and Answers about Menstrual cycle length varies

menstrual-cycle

Avatar f tn I am a 22-year-old medical student and know that normal cycle length varies between 28 to 35 days. My cycle however is around 40 days and sometimes more or less.. The question is, can that be normal? I'm a little overweight but not obese, I exercise regularly and I don't think I have any obvious signs of PCO. Any help?
Avatar f tn My menstrual cycle varies from 28 to 38 days. My average cycle length is 33 days. I’m 32 years old.
Avatar n tn You count the length of your cycle from the first day of your last period to the first day of your next period. The length of your mentration does not calculate. Once you know the average length of your cycle, you can find out when you are supposed to O.
Avatar f tn we had been doing this for the past 1 yr.have been comfortable with it.my cycle length varies from 30 to35 days .my last menstrual period was on 21st dec.2008.we had intercourse on 19th day of the cycle. today is my 38th day.pregnancy test is negative.i had symptoms of ovulation on the15/16th day of the cycle.so now ,what to do.
Avatar n tn Based on a last menstrual period of May 02, 2008: Your due date is February 06, 2009. Your baby was conceived around May 16, 2008. Your first trimester begins May 02, 2008. Your second trimester begins July 26, 2008. Your third trimester begins November 08, 2008. There are 220 days left until your due date. You are 8 weeks and 4 days pregnant. Your baby's crown to rump length is approximately 12 mm or 0.50 inches and weighs about 1 gram.
Avatar n tn Your cycle varies from 26-29 days, but the most common is 27 days. This is an average length. As for "normal" ovulation times, we can't tell you that. Generally speaking you will ovulate two weeks BEFORE your next menstrual cycle, so having sex a day after your period usually doesn't result in pregnancy unless you ovulate early in your cycle.
Avatar n tn Given that I was on the pill for so long, does it take time for my cycle to normalize? I have no idea what the length of my cycle was prior to starting the pill. Thanks for any advice.
1793094 tn?1315374636 The last day of your cycle is the day BEFORE your menstrual bleeding starts. This number would be the total length of your cycle.
Avatar f tn The process typically takes about two weeks, with 14 days considered normal. The follicular phase often varies in length from cycle to cycle; by contrast, the length of the luteal phase will be fairly consistent from cycle to cycle." A doctor who wrote one of the health pages for MedHelp here wrote that the luteal cycle is always 14 days; the quote above says "about" 14 days.
Avatar f tn Hi, Optech, You are saying that instead of being the exact length of a calendar month (30 or 31 days, or 28 in the case of February), your cycles seem to be about 26 days long? That is not particularly unusual. The average menstrual month is about 28 days, though the length of women's menstrual months varies widely around the "average." Perhaps you are also saying that this last time was a shorter month than usual?
Avatar n tn I have irregular period cycle. Ave period length is 2 weeks, with 2-3 weeks "break" in between. It causes my calendar to mess up (we're trying to conceive). Is this menstrual cycle normal? Any advice re timing?
Avatar f tn Hi there. Well, that is different for every woman. The length of one's cycle can be different one month to the next as well. Typical cycles though are 21 to 28 days. Day one of your cycle is the first day of your period and you count from there.
Avatar n tn My cycle length is 28 days.today is 31 day of my cycle .i have little pain in lower abdomen .am I pregnant ???
Avatar n tn and yes planb can mess up your cycle since your body has an internal menstrual cycle..
Avatar f tn The last day of your cycle is the day before your next menstrual period starts. The average cycle length is considered 28 days, but many women have longer or shorter cycles and it's fine. The average women ovulates approximately 14 days before the start of her period, but again, that is certainly not carved in stone. The time between your ovulation and period is referred to as a luteal phase. Hope that helps.
Avatar f tn first three months after starting thyroid my cycle varies between 25-28 days (before was about 30). Then on month 4-5 cycle is only 19-20 days. This time (month 6) I'm at day 38 and no period in site. Preg test neg. Any ideas? I'm wondering if this long one is an anovulatory cycle because I've read some accounts of thyroid meds causing this. But then again, I've also read that treating hypothyroidism improves ovulation. So confusing! Any thoughts?
1695263 tn?1306431092 There are lots of different reasons why your cycle would be different then your normal ones. The most easy things you can ask yourself are: Any added stress? Change in your diet? Could you possibly be pregnant? Or where you? I know when my husband and I first got married we got pregnant right away not that far along and I miscarried and it felt like your period you just had. My period lasted about the length yours did and it was really painful.
178590 tn?1294176767 Brown Eyed Gurl, It's not uncommon to have menstrual cycle length change a little after a miscarriage, like a pendulum that has been knowed out of kilter, it takes a while to get back into its rhythm. Cycles up to 34 days in length, however, are normal. The last cycle sounds abnormal though. This may be a one time thing, so wait to see if the cycle normalizes.
Avatar n tn a period, it actually means that you have a longer cycle. There are many reasons for changes in your cycle length. Stress (good or bad), travel, new job, etc. can all cause a delayed ovulation and therefore delay your period.. Your body must menstrate and create a new cycle for ovulation to occur, if you hadnt alreay ovulated ...
Avatar f tn For instance, I have a long and irregular cycle -- it varies from 5 to 8 weeks. Ovulation occurs 2 weeks before your period, regardless of how long your cycle is, and that is the part of the menstrual cycle which does not vary -- the time before ovulation varies widely. This means that if you have a long cycle, you cannot rely on dating from you LMP because your dates will be off.
Avatar f tn Hi, was wondering, does anyone on here have a really long cycle length?
