804276 tn?1480858056 i have had really bad memory problems for most of my life and was wondering if my conditions could cause this. i have points in my life, many, that i just don't remember at all and they aren't bad situations. everything from what i ate yesterday to a family member coming to visit from out of town, years ago, but i don't remember it ever happening. i'm so afraid of alzheimers when i get older but i don't think my memory problems fits alzheimers.
Avatar m tn It sounds like you may be having some work problems. That can cause stress and the memory problems too.
1830047 tn?1321667793 Hello to All! I too have had short term memory loss of things(brain fog)and then later it may come back and sometimes only with step by step of remembering what was said or done to bring it back to mind but a few things I couldn't get but I try not to stress or cry too much because I've always been known for being organized, spelling queen and remembering things and dates well not so much anymore! Sad.:( Wishing us all better days with our memories but!
Avatar n tn I am beginning to think that my gastric problems are actually related to an issue with my endocrine system. I did have a nissen fundoplication back in the early 90's for reflux and had been doing great.
Avatar m tn ve done cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, and alcohol. My issue is that I feel like I have memory and cognitive issues due to my past drug use. I have since graduated from college and hold a computer related job. I do well in my job, but can't get over the past drug use and blaming it for my perceived inadequacies. I do brain training programs like mindfit, sudoku, read books, yoga, work out etc. I am literally trying everything I can to try and regain my sharp memory and cognitive skills.
414131 tn?1202530891 In fact all the docs I have talked to insist it is not and that it is nothing to worry about. I disagree. It does seem to be somewhat related to blood sugars and I think it is something to worry about. This all happened very fast, I was seemingly Ok in September 06 and by Dec 06 I was not. I had always thought it was high blood sugar related however last week I had two days of real bad random bad sectors and my blood sugars were low 81 -130, I was not sick. But man I was dingy and I knew it.
1534024 tn?1294246075 Since I have read I will comment that most of your problems seem to be related to insufficient sleep. Have you talked with your doctor about a prescription sleep aid (pill)? I have such and rarely use it, it doesn't change my dreaming problem. The generic sleeping pill is not expensive, and while I think it best to avoid developing dependencies on medication, it might be worth a try to see if more sleep solves other problems too.
1399170 tn?1333845258 I'm 16 (turning 17 next month), and I also have the same memory problems you're having. My guess is that it's stress from school, your schedule, and personal life b/c the middle school/high school part of your life is very busy and stressful. ADD might also have a part in your memory problems. You had mentioned that you forget things like homework if you get distracted.
1260255 tn?1288654564 I've read people mentioning memory problems, but have not seen one type of memory problem discussed. Do any of you have problems where your memory does not store information? There are numerous occasions when I have absolutely no recall of conversations. This happened several weeks ago when my son called me at work. He told me that the grill was corroded at the bottom. I have no recall of this whatsoever, but his girlfriend was sitting next to him and vouches for him.
985873 tn?1407936092 but then it happens, my family (brother, sister, husband, grown children) stress me out. I try to be a positive person, they come to me with their problems and I try to make everything better. I've always been everyone's rock, the person you go to if you need something, even if it's just a shoulder to lean or cry on. Sometimes the ones I love feel like an anvil around my neck, and I just want to cut the rope and cut them out of my life (but of course I can't....).
Avatar n tn It is difficult to explain why you still get the tremors when you are confident speaking in public. It is probably a learned response to the stress you are under. Is the stress related to any particular thing ? Can you identify the cause ? The memory problems could come as a result of a lack of attention to things. If you are constantly thinking of something stressful, your mind may not register things properly, and that leads to a poor recall of events.
Avatar n tn Can stress cause you to have body aches and sometime memory loss also loss of appetite?
Avatar f tn Yes, it is MS. Yes, the memory holes from MS are really difficult to deal with. I also sometimes have trouble recognizing objects. Or thinking of words. It's mainly why I don't work any more. I know exactly what you mean. I have to ask my boyfriend if I have seen a movie before. Or a broadway play even - which is a much bigger deal, obviously. I don't remember meals or when I last saw a friend - or if I have paid a bill or not. So I have to pay them as soon as they come in.
Avatar f tn ve had issues with my memory as well and people often tell me it is stress-related. This generally only causes me to stress more because I feel they are minimizing the symptom. For the most part I feel that there must be something seriously wrong with me. For me, probably the fear of neuro-degenerative conditions and not HIV. My advice would be to see a psychiatrist and to seek counseling (psychotherapy). The expert here also has a self-help approach to therapy if you are interested.
1704542 tn?1307505584 We have an excellent health page on pain and MS if you have a chance to look at our health pages. Also, pain can often be a secondary issue to a very MS related symptom. For example, if you go to the doc for pain in all your joints, the farthest thing from a docs mind would be MS (my opinion) vs going to the doctor for pain cause by spasticity which is directly related to your MS. Couple questions for you - did the doctor tell you he/she was concerned about MS?
Avatar f tn Since then, I have been prone to dizziness (not vertigo, but lightheadedness), fainting, headaches, tremors in the hands and twitches in facial muscles and legs, disturbed dreams, irritability, sensitivity to smells and funny tastes, trouble focussing vision, sleeping problems, as well as facial numbness on my right side. I also have increasingly troubling issues with memory, and performing simple tasks. I'm finding it very difficult to concentrate.
Avatar m tn re in an alcohol/substance related group - memory loss can be associated with drinking. It can be associated with many other things, too - from different medications, mental or cognitive health conditions, and even sometimes stress. I think it is very important that you speak to a doctor who can survey your health & lifestyle profile to work with what is known - and other factors that may not be known.
Avatar m tn There is a site called Lumosity that has brain games that are supposed to help with memory and recall. I am going to join in the new year (once the Christmas bills are out of the way. - it is only $80 a year).
1339419 tn?1275966042 Short term memory problems can be caused by lower cerebral blood flow due to heart disease or stenosis (narrowing) of cerebral (brain) and carotid (neck) arteries. High blood pressure does not necessarily mean a reduction in blood flow, but it does indicate the heart is pumping against high resistance.
Avatar f tn Stress can make it hard to focus on things, and it can lead to memory problems, too, especially if you are sleep deprived. Hormones problems, like during perimenopause, can bring these symptoms on, too. Have you seen your doctor lately? Are you on medication for the migraines? (If yes, it could be that the medication or medications are having side effects.
Avatar m tn But in the meantime, while you wait for a sleep test or to see a doc to figure out what might be doing this to your memory, let us say you know on your own that you don't sleep very well. I can suggest a couple easy things you can do to try to clear this up: One is to exercise to where you break a sweat at least three or four times weekly, this helps release tension and also helps a person sleep better. Two is to make your sleeping room very comfortable...
Avatar f tn Also noticing memory problems. Anybody have any ideas? Sensory preception problems have been mentioned to me. Going to U of M not to much info coming.....

8398640 tn?1398042546 Hey Lauren, Generally it's the brain which is recognised as the 'Primary' cause of cognitive issues, but there are 'Secondary' causes to MS related cognitive issues too eg medication side effects, fatigue, pain, sleep deprivation, psychological issue-depression, stress, self confidence etc One way to basically work out if it's 'possibly' a secondary issue, is to make notes looking for any discernible patterns eg.....
