Common Questions and Answers about Meloxicam for dogs side effects

mobic

1550149 tn?1340000730 In a search for an answer to your side effects question I also did some looking into the prescribed Meloxicam. Some of the side effects of Mobic (meloxicam) are problems with vision or balance and headaches. Sorry I could not be of greater assistance. Please discuss your SX with your prescribing physician. It may behove you to try an alternative pain medication to see if your SX will decrease or resolve.
Avatar n tn I’ve been taking Meloxicam for many years. It’s never put weight on me. I don’t believe that is a side effect either. It’s the menopause not the meloxicam.
Avatar m tn Both the medication with give almost equal amount of pain relief though meloxicam is associated with fewer side effects as compared to ibuprofen. Though pain relief may be immediate, anti-inflammatory action may take a few days to build up. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn I've been on that medication for many years and have had no side effects. It's been very helpful for my condition (severe tibial tendonitis).
Avatar n tn Now after reading about Meloxicam side effects today, I am suspecting that perhaps the issue is the Meloxicam. My symptoms seem slightly different each day. Initially it was a few days of mostly lower leg weakness and overall lack of energy. That changed to a few days of lower leg tingling and numbness, and then the numbness and tingling moved to mostly my right side leg and arm and slightly in my left leg.
Avatar f tn I would take your girl back to the vet to test her renal function, as itching can be a sign of a problem (please google for side effects). http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2013/05/01/meloxicam-dangers.aspx There is more to this article, however, this is the part that concerns me... "The drug in both forms is FDA-approved for dogs – the oral form is more often used to treat the symptoms of canine osteoarthritis.
Avatar f tn You can also try other meds. Even over-the-counter dramamine can be used for dogs. Reglan and phenergan are two other considerations. As with any medication, make sure you check with your vet first. Does your dog actually throw up on car trips? Is there a certain amount of time it takes to get really sick or is it immediate? You're doing a great job taking Rocky on short trips to get him used to car travel.
Avatar f tn This thread scared me a lot when I was having side effects from Meloxicam so I just wanted to leave a comment to clear things up. If you're having numbness and weird tingles, even slight burning, don't worry. These side effects will most likely pass with time. They did for me (it took about 10 days though). I feel perfectly normal now. The comments the people left in this thread are completely irresponsible and unacceptable. It isn't right to wildly speculate.
Avatar n tn No, duh. Margot. I've had dogs for 60 years and know a little something about them. I recently got ripped off by a vet and didn't feel to be had again. Of course, if I had the money, I would have called the vet, who would have told me to bring my dog in and then run expensive tests and then told me what I already knew and then prescribed a vet formulation of flexeril that is identical to human.
Avatar m tn ve got me on Plavix, Aspirin, Iron, Tenormin, DocQlace, Hydroco/Apap for pain. Was prescribed Meloxicam, but not taking it because of what I read about it and bypass surgeries. Would love to get some sleep.

Avatar f tn My German Shepherd was recently prescribed incurin and it has caused her not to eat and a little bit aggressive and scared... She also was running around with her hackles up and starting fights with my other dogs...She only had 3 or 4 days of it and then I took her off of it this last Sunday was her last dose...She still is not wanting to eat and not 100% back to herself? How long do the side effects last...It was taking me an hour and a half to get her to eat 2 cups of food...
1252901 tn?1271131868 Is it stronger and does it work better than prescription-strength naproxin? What kind of side-effects does it have? Does it affect your mood like vicodin does? I'm just wondering about other people's experiences with this drug. thanks.
Avatar f tn I do not know that this surgery is available yet for dogs, or whether or not there are any canine neurosurgeons who would perform it, but if it does exist, my guess is that it would still be cost-prohibitive for anyone but the wealthiest pet owners or people who have pet health insurance. A change in appetite is a common side effect of phenobarbital. Some dogs eat less and have to be cajoled into eating, others become voracious and can't seem to eat enough.
Avatar n tn Some of the side effects reported vary due to different breeds & several other factors. We have 1 Rottweiler mix male & 2 rescued dogs (German Rottweiler female & American Rottweiler female). German Rotty was approx 2 y/o when rescued. She had her first seizure approx 2 months ago. Scared me to death. A month later she had another so I knew some of the signs before hand. My mixed male & American Rotty female were going crazy when the seizures occurred.
Avatar m tn i had a couple of shots in my shoulder and it relieved it immediately but man o man the side effects of that stuff is crazy...i got grouchy for about a week. As far as side effects and mixing meds i totally agree w. Ireneo....your best bet is to talk to a phymacist......you'll get all of your answers there....,.
Avatar n tn If this is a small dog and 3ml is a human dose, then yes, it could be harmful.....A large dog would be less likely to suffer as serious side effects....... The same overdose symptoms can happen to a dog as with a human.......You need to look at your package warning label and read them or google side effects of this medication...... If you see anything unusual with your dog's behaviour, you need to seek medical attention ASAP.....Let us know how he/she is doing.....
Avatar f tn t think I had that , also mild back flow of left heart valve. Treatment was a shot of cortisone in each hip and priscribed Meloxicam 1 day for 6 weeks this all helped a great deal.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I looked on the side effects of Depakote and I didn't find anything to do with this. I've never been an angry person, nor have I really ever have I ever blasted people or my dogs. I yell at my dogs, have no patience, basically more irritability that I'm not able to control .I'm Bipolar, with mixed states, rapid cycling and have been in the last couple of months, hypomanic.
Avatar n tn Calcitriol is a natural form of Vitamin D that was formerly used for human dialysis patients to restore kidney function. Calcitriol is currently available for dogs and cats in kidney failure and veterinarians order it through various compounding pharmacies. Calcitriol is compounded specifically for each pet according to their body weight and BUN-Creatinine levels. It is given to pets as a capsule by mouth once a day.
