My first 2pregnacys they also gave me vicoden for when migranes were unbearable. This pregnancy my Dr told me I could also take maxalt( I was told w my first 2 that maxalt was not safe AT ALL) after doing some research I decided against maxalt but am continuing firocet.

t mean to interrupt but I am actually a pharmacist and thought I could clarify the maxalt questions.... Maxalt is not a beta blocker. It is a 5HT1B receptor agonist. Basically it's a triptan drug that is used for vascular migraines. Vascular migraines cause vasodilation of blood vessels and that dilation causes pain. Triptan drugs cause vasoconstriction of those blood vessels and thus reduced the pain caused by pressure.

My question is, are these rebound headaches from the Maxalt? I use the Maxalt no more then once to twice a week. This could also be sinus headaches too, I'm not 100% sure as I feel pressure in my head also. Is it okay to take the Maxalt 1-2 times a week? I also have a spinal cord nerve injury and I do take the long acting oxycontin every 8 hours for the pain.

My blood pressure got quite high and I was prescribed hypotone. I was also put on Trepiline, Tramacet and Maxalt and an amjoxycillin (as I had a UTI). 4 days later I was feeling a bit better and was discharged- still on all the above meds, and so have had to discontinue breastfeeding (am expressing milk though). I am now on day 11 of these dreadful headaches. I am desperate to be able to get back to breastfeeding.

My friend had called me and I told her that I was too sick to talk and that I had run out of my Maxalt. My friend is a life saver! When she got off of work, she picked up my Maxalt and brought it to me. She also brought me some hot dogs, chips and pop because I had nothing to eat in the house. She proclaims that she diluted and injected her migraine medicine (Maxalt) because she keeps throwing it up. Her symptoms, however, where those of an opiate overdose....blue hands and face, low respiration, eyes rolling backwards, staggering, tremoring arms upon waking up, disorientation, etc. Does anyone know what the side effects would be of injecting maxalt? I find this impossible to believe that it would knock her out and turn her blue.

does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.

If you are having a period while you are breastfeeding then you can TTC as usual. I was breastfeeding and had two very light period didn't think much of them and got pregnant again. My two youngest will be 14 months apart!

Has anyone used Remeron for depression, while taking Maxalt for their migraines? I have migraines about every other day, and take 5mg maxalt for them. I was just given Remeron for depression, as the doc said i cannot take any SSRI's because of serotonin syndrome. I cannot find and interactions for Remeron, but just wondering if anyone else has tried these together. Any info appreciated.

I just talked to my midwife about breastfeeding while pregnant this morning and she said it is perfectly fine. She said people who don't know the facts think you need to stop, but that is not true. Personally I am breastfeeding my 22 month old and I am 14 weeks pregnant. If she doesn't self wean I'll be tandem nursing them in March! Good for you to be educating yourself and not just doing what others say. You are being a fantastic Mom and meeting the needs of both babies!

You can definitely get pregnant while breastfeeding. It being a birth control is a common misconception. However I have had very unregular periods after having kiddos. And before mine were always clock work.

All u can take while breastfeeding is ibuprofen u can't take tylenol. It's weird cause while ur prego all u can have is tylenol and while breastfeeding all I can take is ibuprofen funny huh.

They have been increasing in quantity and severity until about a year and a half ago I had to stop working completely. I am on a combination of darvacet, tramadol, topomax and maxalt. The combination leaves me in bed about 18 hours a day. I have had two MRIs. One with contrast and one without. Neither shows any good reason for my pain. The headache never goes away and I have no idea what makes it hit so hard every few days (room blacked out and crawling to the bathroom). Am I the only one.

Hello Everyone, I'm 22 and just graduated University. I have been having migraines since I was about 7 years old now. However, over the years they have seemed to get much worse. I thought that the higher frequency could have been from my lack of sleep and bad diet that I had throughout high school and college. Now that I have been out of college for over a month now the migraines haven't seemed to subside.

typically it is just fine for you to continue breastfeeding while pregnant, you may need to take extra vitamins and up you calorie intake even more than a typical pregnant women, so you can provide for both. since you do have history of MC I would definitely talk with your Dr as he or she may want to keep a close eye on your iron levels and any other levels that maybe effected by breastfeeding!

I found a lump on my right breast while breastfeeding my 8 months old baby. I went for a mammogram and the doctor told me to stop breastfeeding in order to do the biopsy. To answer your question, YES it is perfectly safe to go on birth control pills while breastfeeding, HOWEVER, you can not take pills that contain estrogen. There are pills call "mini-pills" or "pops" (progesterone only pills) such as camilla and micronor that are considered safe during breastfeeding. Ask your doctor about it. Some docs will give you a script straight out of the hospital, others will make you wait until you have your 6 week post partum check up.

When I was having frequent migraines and my insurance would only pay for one refill of Maxalt each month, I obtained prescriptions for both Maxalt and Relpax and filled both each month. They worked equally well for me.

Hey there, Maxalt shouldn't cause rebound headaches, BUT it is true that you can only take 2 doses every 24 hours. So, never take more than two doses in 24 hours and never take more then 2 doses for the SAME migraine. OTC medications such as Ibuprofen (advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) are much more likely to cause rebound headaches than triptans such as Maxalt.

I also get migraines. have you paid attention to any of the known migraine "triggers" like red wiine & chocolate, hard cheeses etc. You probably have but I thought I'd mention it. Like the others, I take Maxalt for mine & it always works. Maxalt is from the migraine interrupter family & also includes imetrix & Zomig. Good luck - it sounds very difficult.

i took 2 maxalt on saturday for a migraine, it didnt help at all, actually made it worse making me vomit for 3 days and today is friday, 6 days later and i still feel like, tired, weak, foggy, not hungry, cant really go to the bathroom even though i feel like i have to. is this gonna go away?

But not all women can become pregnant while breastfeeding. Some can with no problem, but not all. I did extensive research on this a while back because I wanted to get pregnant again. Anyway, for some women it is easy to do without any problems. Some women have too low hormone levels to sustain a pregnancy. I know that is the case for me. I have timed things right for the past 3 months and not gotten pregnant. I know my body very well, as I have tempt my BBT.
