I had a similar problem with Maxalt (a drug in the same class as Relpax-they are both triptans). My insurance would only cover 12 pills, and I need more. My doctor filled out the necessary paperwork for my insurance co., saying I need more than "typically alotted". The pharmacy division of your insurance co. can give you more info. If that's not possible, have you tried another triptan? Maxalt, Imitrex, and Relpax all work for my migraines. Good luck!

I had them really bad to where I was in a dark roo. In sunglasses with my last pregnancy. That lasted 2 months. If they get too bad, ask about reglan. It's a anti nausea med that has a side effect of helping migraines. It's the only thing that helped me.

t mean to interrupt but I am actually a pharmacist and thought I could clarify the maxalt questions.... Maxalt is not a beta blocker. It is a 5HT1B receptor agonist. Basically it's a triptan drug that is used for vascular migraines. Vascular migraines cause vasodilation of blood vessels and that dilation causes pain. Triptan drugs cause vasoconstriction of those blood vessels and thus reduced the pain caused by pressure.

My first 2pregnacys they also gave me vicoden for when migranes were unbearable. This pregnancy my Dr told me I could also take maxalt( I was told w my first 2 that maxalt was not safe AT ALL) after doing some research I decided against maxalt but am continuing firocet.

She proclaims that she diluted and injected her migraine medicine (Maxalt) because she keeps throwing it up. Her symptoms, however, where those of an opiate overdose....blue hands and face, low respiration, eyes rolling backwards, staggering, tremoring arms upon waking up, disorientation, etc. Does anyone know what the side effects would be of injecting maxalt? I find this impossible to believe that it would knock her out and turn her blue.

All tests came back normal. The Maxalt worked well when I got the migraines but insurance wasn't too happy with it so we had to switch. She then put me on Relpax which didn't work at all. The Zonisamide gave me some pretty intense heart palpitations so I was switched to Topomax.

does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.

t find them particulaly helpful. My class just covered what I had already read in the 1 pregnancy book I bought so I talked to the instructor and stopped going.

My question is, are these rebound headaches from the Maxalt? I use the Maxalt no more then once to twice a week. This could also be sinus headaches too, I'm not 100% sure as I feel pressure in my head also. Is it okay to take the Maxalt 1-2 times a week? I also have a spinal cord nerve injury and I do take the long acting oxycontin every 8 hours for the pain.

They have been increasing in quantity and severity until about a year and a half ago I had to stop working completely. I am on a combination of darvacet, tramadol, topomax and maxalt. The combination leaves me in bed about 18 hours a day. I have had two MRIs. One with contrast and one without. Neither shows any good reason for my pain. The headache never goes away and I have no idea what makes it hit so hard every few days (room blacked out and crawling to the bathroom). Am I the only one.

My friend had called me and I told her that I was too sick to talk and that I had run out of my Maxalt. My friend is a life saver! When she got off of work, she picked up my Maxalt and brought it to me. She also brought me some hot dogs, chips and pop because I had nothing to eat in the house. Hubby left on Wednsday and took the kids up to the cabin, so I've been here alone. I thought that was extremely nice of my friend to go and do that for me.

Health class is nothing compared to being pregnant! LOL I didn't realize how much vaginal discharge you can have during the pregnancy. Panty liners become your best friend. In my second trimester my boobs always leaked and that never stopped.

I also get migraines. have you paid attention to any of the known migraine "triggers" like red wiine & chocolate, hard cheeses etc. You probably have but I thought I'd mention it. Like the others, I take Maxalt for mine & it always works. Maxalt is from the migraine interrupter family & also includes imetrix & Zomig. Good luck - it sounds very difficult.

i took 2 maxalt on saturday for a migraine, it didnt help at all, actually made it worse making me vomit for 3 days and today is friday, 6 days later and i still feel like, tired, weak, foggy, not hungry, cant really go to the bathroom even though i feel like i have to. is this gonna go away?

By the time I got there she was having seizures and the doctor gave her Maxalt and had called an ambulance.The hospital did numerous tests; blood, urine, CT scan, spinal tap. They couldn't find anything wrong and sent her to a neorologist. He put her on Maxalt and Topomax and ordered an MRI and a sleep deprived EEG. They both came back clear. Three days later she was in the hospital with another migraine and seizures.

HI.....I've been taking Topomax for several years for migraines, I take 200mg a day and yes, it can have the side effects you describe! Your doc needs to listen to you!!! Docs don't know it all despite what they think. Only you know how you are feeling. If you have the ability, find another doc. What do you take for a migraine outburst? I take Maxalt. I too am pretty much " med resistant" when it comes to ADs. Don't let a doc tell you that that is impossible.

I'm going to take a breastfeeding class and the pregnancy class. I'm a FTM and neither of us (husband and I) have been around young children or in the L&D section of the hospital. So even if i don't get a tun of info, I feel any is better than none. But then again we are the kinda people that are always over prepared.

Yes, the prescription medication is called a triptan... or triptans are a class of medication and examples of triptans are sumatriptan (brand name imitrex), zomig, maxalt, axert... well those are just to name a few. And yes, they are migraine medication and you take them at the first signs of the migraine, the SS, and it will stop the SS as long as you take it at the very first signs that it is starting. You can get it prescribed by a neurologist or your family doctor.

I take 2 to 4 Maxalt with 1 to 2 oxycodone (10mg) or vicodin (500 mg) per day, I have chronic migraine. It's not really per day, it just seems like it since my migraine usually last 2 to 4 days too. Just recently found out am 5 weeks pregnant. So I stopped the Maxalt right away since it falls under category C. So I take either Oxy or Vicodin. Half the time I cut them in half. I usually take the other half later on when I start feeling the pain coming back.

Maxalt! Maxalt is a great triptan! I think that the fast acting triptans like Maxalt-MLTs are some of the best. Fast acting triptans are any triptans that are orally disintegrating tablets (like the Maxalt-MLTs) or Nasal Sprays or Injections. I use Zomig Nasal Spray which is another type of fast acting triptan, but Maxalt-MLTs work amazingly too... out of all of the triptans I've tried I think that Maxalt-MLTs and Zomig Nasal Spray have worked much faster than any of the other triptans.

Has anyone used Remeron for depression, while taking Maxalt for their migraines? I have migraines about every other day, and take 5mg maxalt for them. I was just given Remeron for depression, as the doc said i cannot take any SSRI's because of serotonin syndrome. I cannot find and interactions for Remeron, but just wondering if anyone else has tried these together. Any info appreciated.

Drugs like Imitrex, Maxalt etc. They all are in the same class of drugs called sumatriptans. These are drugs used to halt migraines.

I'm not sure if i put this in the right place. moderators please move if in the wrong place. I have started having deep muscle spasms in my right calf. I have hd these spasms for about 5 months now. I have severe spasms sometimes. Sometimes they are so severe that I wake up crying. Other times I have twitching in that same muscle. All day long i suffer with the minor twitching. I think I have become used to the twitching pain. The severe pain is intense. I also have severe migraines.

As you probably have read now, Tylenol is kind of in a different class, it can really screw up the liver, at surprisingly low amounts. Ibuprofin and aspirin irritate the lining of the stomach and intestines. Some studies think heavy NSAID use can make one more likely to have IBD like Crohn's or UC, even cancers (just a small risk, way off in the future). I bet if you tried taking much less, you'd find they never really worked anyway.
