Maxalt orally disintegrating

Common Questions and Answers about Maxalt orally disintegrating

maxalt

Avatar m tn ) can work is 30 minutes IF you use the 5mg orally disintegrating tablets tablets. the 2.5mg orally disintegrating tablets take up to 1 hour to work... so that is not so good for SS, it would be good for pain but not good for SS. Probably the 5mg Zomig Nasal Spray which works in 10 minutes or the 5mg Zomig-ZMT which works in 30 minutes would be best for SS. So... it really depends on how long your SS lasts for.
768044 tn?1294223436 ve tried Imitrex tablets, Zomig tablets and Maxalt ODT (orally disintegrating tablets). I will never take Imitrex again-50 mg gave me severe palpitations and chest pain; I thought I was going to die. Zomig and Maxalt both worked well when I took them (not together of course) but then they stopped working: it was almost like I developed a tolerance to them. I do remember the Maxalt ODT tasting weird and sometimes it would make my nausea worse.
1030950 tn?1261010513 Those are the quick dissolve tablets (orally disintegrating tablets). If that is not the version of Maxalt you are taking, make sure to switch to that version... because it will work better than the regular maxalt tablets. The quick dissolve version of Maxalt is called "Maxalt-MLT", and I believe that statistically the Maxalt-MLT 10mg tablets work better than the Maxalt-MLT 5mg tablets but only your doctor could tell you which dosage is best for you.
1125820 tn?1265284446 Did you try the regular Maxalt tablets or the Maxalt-MLTs? The Maxalt-MLTs are the orally disintegrating tablets. The Maxalt-MLTs work better than the regular Maxalt tablets. If you haven't tried Maxalt-MLTs yet, I would suggest giving those a try too. Which Zomig did you try? If you haven't tried the Zomig Nasal Spray yet, then I highly recommend Zomig Nasal Spray. The bioavailability of Zomig Nasal Spray is even better than Zomig by IV...
Avatar n tn If it does turn out to be a migraine then a doctor could prescribe you a fast acting triptan (nasal spray or orally disintegrating tablet) in order to stop the migraine... a regular triptan in tablet form would not be good in your situation since in your case your situation resolves itself in under 30 minutes, so you would need a fast-acting triptan in your case, such as a nasal spray or an orally disintegrating tablet in order for it to be effective.
1088430 tn?1259159773 Maxalt! Maxalt is a great triptan! I think that the fast acting triptans like Maxalt-MLTs are some of the best. Fast acting triptans are any triptans that are orally disintegrating tablets (like the Maxalt-MLTs) or Nasal Sprays or Injections. I use Zomig Nasal Spray which is another type of fast acting triptan, but Maxalt-MLTs work amazingly too... out of all of the triptans I've tried I think that Maxalt-MLTs and Zomig Nasal Spray have worked much faster than any of the other triptans.
1102283 tn?1257817472 I believe that fast acting triptans are the best in most situations because they work the fastest. Fast acting triptans come in orally disintegrating tablets or nasal sprays. I personally use Zomig Nasal Spray and find it works extremely well. I also have found great success with Maxalt-MLTs.
Avatar f tn The forms out there are Maxalt-MLT (orally disintegrating tablet) or Zomig-ZMT (orally disintegrating tablet) or Zomig Nasal Spray or Imitrex Nasal Spray. There is also an Imitrex Injection although this is usually only prescribed in very rare circumstances or administered in a hospital setting.
Avatar f tn Tell your Dr. They can give you anti nausea tablets that work wonders. It can be dangerous not to eat and drink and throw up too much, so it's important you call them. I got Ondansetron orally disintegrating tablets. Super cheap and worked great the few times I was sick. Hope you feel better! Keep drinking water!

Avatar f tn THE ONLY ADDITIONAL BENEFIT OF NIRAVAM IS THAT IT IS AN ORALLY-DISINTEGRATING WAFER. THE ONSET OF ACTION IS ABOUT 5 MINUTES FASTER WITH NIRAVAM. OTHERWISE THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NIRAVAM AND XANAX." I would like to add that Xanax or Niravam are for short term use only, i.e. four months or less. Or better yet, on a prn (as needed) basis. After four months of continuous use, Xanax and Niravam will lose their efficacy.

Avatar f tn t mean to interrupt but I am actually a pharmacist and thought I could clarify the maxalt questions.... Maxalt is not a beta blocker. It is a 5HT1B receptor agonist. Basically it's a triptan drug that is used for vascular migraines. Vascular migraines cause vasodilation of blood vessels and that dilation causes pain. Triptan drugs cause vasoconstriction of those blood vessels and thus reduced the pain caused by pressure.
724811 tn?1291430786 Fast acting triptans come in orally disintegrating tablets or nasal sprays. I personally use Zomig Nasal Spray and find it works extremely well. I also have found great success with Maxalt-MLTs. Although, everyone is different and all of the triptans on the market have been proven effective in clinical trials, so please discuss with your doctor which triptan would be the most appropriate in your situation. Other acute migraine medications include analgesics and antiemetics.
8518086 tn?1407289593 I have really bad nausea as well. My doctor prescribed me Ondansetron, an orally disintegrating tablet, to help subdue my nausea. It's helped me get sleep at night because my nausea seems to be worse around bedtime. And since the tablet disintegrates orally it's gets into your system a lot faster.
Avatar m tn She proclaims that she diluted and injected her migraine medicine (Maxalt) because she keeps throwing it up. Her symptoms, however, where those of an opiate overdose....blue hands and face, low respiration, eyes rolling backwards, staggering, tremoring arms upon waking up, disorientation, etc. Does anyone know what the side effects would be of injecting maxalt? I find this impossible to believe that it would knock her out and turn her blue.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
655875 tn?1295695107 My question is, are these rebound headaches from the Maxalt? I use the Maxalt no more then once to twice a week. This could also be sinus headaches too, I'm not 100% sure as I feel pressure in my head also. Is it okay to take the Maxalt 1-2 times a week? I also have a spinal cord nerve injury and I do take the long acting oxycontin every 8 hours for the pain.
Avatar n tn They have been increasing in quantity and severity until about a year and a half ago I had to stop working completely. I am on a combination of darvacet, tramadol, topomax and maxalt. The combination leaves me in bed about 18 hours a day. I have had two MRIs. One with contrast and one without. Neither shows any good reason for my pain. The headache never goes away and I have no idea what makes it hit so hard every few days (room blacked out and crawling to the bathroom). Am I the only one.
Avatar n tn I personally suggest the fast acting triptans as they work to stop the headache in a matter of minutes (30 minutes at most usually) instead of a matter of hours (2 hours at most for the regular tablets). Fast acting triptans come in orally disintegrating tablets and nasal sprays. I personally use Zomig Nasal Spray and find it works best for me. Another triptan I think is very good is Maxalt-MLTs.
Avatar n tn There are many brands of triptans on the market (Imitrex, Maxalt, Zomig, Axert... to name a few) but Frovatriptan is different from all of them and is used specifically for menstrual migraines. Frova is the brand name of the medication and Frovatriptan is the generic name of the medication. The way that Frovatriptan works that is different from regular triptans is that a much longer half-life, that means it stays in your body for much longer than the other forms of triptans.
655875 tn?1295695107 My friend had called me and I told her that I was too sick to talk and that I had run out of my Maxalt. My friend is a life saver! When she got off of work, she picked up my Maxalt and brought it to me. She also brought me some hot dogs, chips and pop because I had nothing to eat in the house. Hubby left on Wednsday and took the kids up to the cabin, so I've been here alone. I thought that was extremely nice of my friend to go and do that for me.
Avatar f tn When I was having frequent migraines and my insurance would only pay for one refill of Maxalt each month, I obtained prescriptions for both Maxalt and Relpax and filled both each month. They worked equally well for me.
Avatar f tn I also get migraines. have you paid attention to any of the known migraine "triggers" like red wiine & chocolate, hard cheeses etc. You probably have but I thought I'd mention it. Like the others, I take Maxalt for mine & it always works. Maxalt is from the migraine interrupter family & also includes imetrix & Zomig. Good luck - it sounds very difficult.
Avatar n tn i took 2 maxalt on saturday for a migraine, it didnt help at all, actually made it worse making me vomit for 3 days and today is friday, 6 days later and i still feel like, tired, weak, foggy, not hungry, cant really go to the bathroom even though i feel like i have to. is this gonna go away?
Avatar f tn My first 2pregnacys they also gave me vicoden for when migranes were unbearable. This pregnancy my Dr told me I could also take maxalt( I was told w my first 2 that maxalt was not safe AT ALL) after doing some research I decided against maxalt but am continuing firocet.
