Side effects of Maxalt is pressure in your chest & throat. I did ok the times I've only needed it once. But, today I had to take it twice. After that second dose...omg, the pressure is HORRIBLE!!!!!!! I honestly think it is worse than a migraine. There are no words to describe it. You can't breathe & you can barely swallow just your saliva! I'm wondering if it is side effects that get better the more you take it? And if it does...

I have been on migraine preventatives, gabapentin, morphine, blood pressure meds, anti-anxiety medication, amitryptiline, Thorazine, steroids, you name it I have taken it. I have also had MRI's, CT scans, sinus surgery, lumbar punctures (5) and blood work multiple times. I have seen 3 neurologists, a headache specialist, acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic.... EVERYTHING! The only thing anyone can tell me is I have Chronic Migraines.

Every morning I wake up with a severe headache/migraine/sinus headache. I'm not sure if I'm making them worse by taking aspirin or Maxalt to relieve the headaches. I wake up and my head is pounding, so I walk into the kitchen and grab the ice pack. I will try and abort the headache with the ice pack before resorting to aspirin or ibuprofen. If the ice pack does not work with in 20-30 minutes, I will take either aspirin or ibuprofen.

I do not want to make you feel anxious about this , but your neurologist should know about your symptoms so that proper evaluation be made to determine why your headaches are becoming more severe .Also, have your blood pressure evaluated.An opthalmologic consult may also help to rule out any involvement of eye structures. After that, every time the air pressure would drop suddenly from weather changes(frequent here in Western WA), his face/head pain would start like a cluster headache with his upper molars aching on one side, then the facial nerve would get involved and he'd have trigeminal neuralgia, tinnitis, one eye would blur, and he often lost the hearing in one ear. And then the global head pain would come on.

I have stopped taking my pain pills for my back problem (Meloxicam and Tramadol) and only take my blood pressure and thyroid meds. Stopped taking vitamins and supplements too (one-a-day, B-150, chromium picolinate) but have to take Melatonin, D3 and calcium to help me sleep most nights if I haven't taken the Maxalt.

If you have no prior history of high blood pressure i would think theres a very good chance as these meds do crazy stuff....... I have read here where those with high BP before tx saw it go down while on treatment...... Good luck going forward.

I have had high blood pressure through out most of my pregnancy i am now 35wks. I started swelling really bad last week and at my apt yesterday my blood pressure had jumped even higher to 156/90. My mid wife didn't seem concerned at all she just re took it and made my appointments weekly now. I can't seem to get rid of a head ache ive had for a couple days. Should i be worried???

I am now on an appeal for a new treatment after being turned down by my insurance company.Has anybody with similar symptons experienced sudden high blood pressure and found out what might have caused it.The doc I saw in the emergency room couldn't answer why it happened.

Your bottom number is a little high but not horrible! I am 35w3d and I have had constant high blood pressure since 26 weeks. Its always around 165/94. Since its been constantly high, I see my doctor every thursday for an ultrasound to check the babies heartbeat and fluid, a non-stress test, and a chat with my doctor! I also go in every wednesday to do blood work to check for preeclampsia. This week will be my 4th time doing it.

I get high blood pressure when pregnant (this is my second pregnancy) it just happens. I'm fit and healthy and continue this during pregnancy and have hardly any salt in my diet.

cervix is still close which is fine with me no hurry lol but dr informed me that my blood pressure was high so he restricted me from work nn put me to rest...but I'm wondering if this means I'm getting induce? They help curve my nausea too. Ive never had high blood pressure from too much salt however in my past pregnancies(like in last trimester)if i ate them too often my feet would swell up pretty good. At this point its hard for me to ignore cravings. Sometimes your body craves what you need but just try to eat whatever it is in moderation.

So the last few weeks when I go to the doctor my blood pressure is high (can hit 160/110) so each time he sends me to l&d blood work is normal and the last visit was the only visit without protein in my urine. He said he could induce me on Tuesday which would make me 36+4. At last visit baby was measuring 7.7 lbs. I have also lost my mucus plug. I also have gestational diabetes. My question is would u be ok woth inducing this early. I am afraid to make the wrong decision.

Hi... can anyone tell me if high blood pressure can cause shortness of breath? I just had it tested and it's 191/120 with a resting heart rate is 111... I'm asthmatic, but this is not the same.... I was sent to l&d yesterday by my ob because my blood pressure was high it was like 149/94 and i had protine in my urine. They kept me for a few hours and ran tests and took my blood pressure every 15 minuets it finally dropped down to 117/76. Im due tomrrow and just worried because i know shes not going to come and they said i wont be induced untill sometime next week and i woke up with a pressure headache feeling like im going to vomit.

They'll most likely put you on bed rest, I had very high blood pressure (avg about 165/95) with my first, so high that if I didn't have a sonogram before my Dr appt she would send me to hospital for a NST (non-stress test) afterwards. I didn't have any symptoms though, no blurred vision, headache, swelling nothing at all. Just take things easy and don't over work your self, and just listen to your body, it will be ok!
