Avatar f tn When I was having frequent migraines and my insurance would only pay for one refill of Maxalt each month, I obtained prescriptions for both Maxalt and Relpax and filled both each month. They worked equally well for me.
Avatar f tn I also get migraines. have you paid attention to any of the known migraine "triggers" like red wiine & chocolate, hard cheeses etc. You probably have but I thought I'd mention it. Like the others, I take Maxalt for mine & it always works. Maxalt is from the migraine interrupter family & also includes imetrix & Zomig. Good luck - it sounds very difficult.
Avatar n tn I have a friend that has dealt with debilitating migraines all of her life and she swears that the prescription drug Maxalt is the only thing that is effective for her and she has tried many medications including imitrex. She told me they are dissolvable tablets such that if you get sick and vomit, you won't vomit up the medication. I will get a migraine headache every once in a blue moon and I take the regular OTC stuff for it.
1334481 tn?1276697078 We used a simple calendar for the last 12 years to quantify the number of migraines, aborted due to medication like Maxalt, disability days, and to try to determine what commenced the migraines. We've narrowed it to weather changes and electrical equipment. 4) Consider very strongly whether electrical equipment could be influencing your migraines.
Avatar f tn Has anyone used Remeron for depression, while taking Maxalt for their migraines? I have migraines about every other day, and take 5mg maxalt for them. I was just given Remeron for depression, as the doc said i cannot take any SSRI's because of serotonin syndrome. I cannot find and interactions for Remeron, but just wondering if anyone else has tried these together. Any info appreciated.
Avatar n tn is there a generic for maxalt? is tere one coming.
Avatar f tn I went to the neurologist yesterdayand they have now ordered and MRI brain scan set for 3:30 this afternoon. They also gave me nortryptaline and maxalt to take instead of the fioricet that I've been taking. The maxalt worked right away, but I did wake up later on last night with a headache again. I go back to the neurologist next month for a follow-up.
655875 tn?1295695107 Right now I'm on my 7th migraine in the last 4 weeks. I have a herniated c5-7 that is compressing on the spinal cord. I've been taking Maxalt with some of my migraines, which does help, but insurance only allows so many in a month and they are expensive. I've been also taking percocet in place of the maxalt, but it does not work as well for the headaches. Is there something I can do to try and prevent these migraines? Are there other natural alternatives rather then medication?
4980051 tn?1361868778 Does anyone know of a good medication that will work for Migraines besides Topomax? I cannot take it, as there are side effects that are dangerous to me.

Avatar n tn Hello, I have had an ongoing headache with nausea for about three weeks. Mri and labs checked out ok. Darvocet, tylenol, ibuprofen dont seem to help much. Dr gave me a shot in my neck which helped for two days but also left me with flushing. The same Dr gave me Naproxen and hydracodone but i cannot take the hydracodone as it upsets my stomach and basically does not allow me to function. The front and back of my head hurt as do my neck and jaw.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar m tn I have a family member who is a heroin addict. She also suffers from migraines accompanied by vomiting. Today she passed out & turned blue, prompting me to call 911. She proclaims that she diluted and injected her migraine medicine (Maxalt) because she keeps throwing it up. Her symptoms, however, where those of an opiate overdose....blue hands and face, low respiration, eyes rolling backwards, staggering, tremoring arms upon waking up, disorientation, etc.
1125820 tn?1265284446 Ok I'm 25 years old. I have been suffering Migraines for almost 15 years . Maybe its me But .. Does any medications work .. I have been on almost everything..
Avatar f tn ve had the headaches under control as long as I made my own food, and used maxalt 10 for the migraines w/aura, and a splint for the TMJ. However: the last 3 months I have had almost daily headaches, I've kept charts, etc. and I started looking on the internet. Has anyone heard of PFO's - patent foramen ovale - a hole in the heart that didn't close at birth, that is only diagnosed with a transesophageal echocardiogram, and which might cause migraines.
Avatar f tn Hi I've been suffering from migraines for 2 years now since my periods have begun to slow down, i used to get them the week before my period was due, but over the past 6 months they have become more and more frequent. the migraines are coming on again after my period and this past month have almost been constant. I have never had any visual problems caused from my migraines until this morning which frightned the life out of me.

1552758 tn?1304928419 Hi - I don't have a question but maybe have some answers for the other migraine sufferers out there. I have been a migraine sufferer for about twenty years. From the days when you had to lock yourself in a dark room for 3 days, vomiting and rolling in pain, scared of someone making a noise and having a spouse that does not even suffer from headaches!
Avatar n tn I also have hyperhidrosis and have been dealing with it for more than 20 years. I am currently taking Maxalt for the migraines. The sweating is made greater by the anxiety and as of late has been unbearable. I have been researching my options and noticed that Inderal has been indicated for all three. Is it possible to take this drug to alleviate the symptoms of all 3? If so, what is the recommended dosage for each of the three? Thank you so much for you time!
1817265 tn?1317302747 I also suffer from migraines & used to take Maxalt. When I was pregnant with my 1st, the dr prescribed Imitrex & I've been taking it since. I take 1/2 a pill & if it doesn't work (which it does most of the time), then I take the other half. You are supposed to take it at the onset of a migraine otherwise it gets so bad that the meds are not as effective. Talk to your dr ASAP! And congratulations on your blessing!!!
591470 tn?1218975186 Hi, I have Intractable Migraines that are really bad, what makes it worse is when they start they come in clusters. My Neurologist, after two whole years, finally placed me on medication for the headaches. I currently take Maxalt 10 mg), Nortriptyline (75 mg) and Compazine (10 mg). I am hoping that they work, I took one the other day during a Migraine attack, and within an hour it was gone.
Avatar f tn I have been having headaches that then turn into migraines, for the past year or so. At first it was only once a week, and then went to three times a week, then back to one or none, and now I have had a migraine every day this week since Sunday. I find that I always wake up with them. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to be sick. Sometimes, like today, I felt dizzy to the point where I had to sit down and kept having to go sit down at work and had stomach aches and a migraine.
1577473 tn?1296177286 I saw the doctor for the first appt and she put me on Zonisamide as a migraine preventative and Maxalt-MLT 10 mg as a rescue medication as well as ordering some labs, an MRI and an MRA. All tests came back normal. The Maxalt worked well when I got the migraines but insurance wasn't too happy with it so we had to switch. She then put me on Relpax which didn't work at all. The Zonisamide gave me some pretty intense heart palpitations so I was switched to Topomax.
1981713 tn?1389860165 If you only use them for migraines, and you don't get them all the time, I don't see a problem with it. Normally benzos are prescribed for anxiety and stress and addicts tend to keep reaching for the pill bottle anytime they are stressed and it can become quite the habit. A migraine is a migraine so there's definitely a right time and a not so right time to take your Maxalt.
Avatar n tn For the past few days I have been experiencing terrible headaches, bordering on migraines (sometimes a full blown migraine). A couple of days later I started having muscle pains in my legs and lower back, and now also in the arms (feels as tho I have carried heavy objects). Yesterday, I started having "pins & needles in both hands, and this occurs sporadically throughout the day.
1607573 tn?1297975133 You should ask your prescribing doctor. They will tell you. It's your right to discontinue the med if you feel you need/want to get off of it. What do you take it for? Why do you want to get off of it?
Avatar f tn We have had a negative MRI/MRA, spinal tap and blood work was ok with just WBC and platelets elevated. We started with 5 mg of maxalt, naproxen, compazine, zofran, toradol and phenergan injections. No ease of pain or symptoms! Spinal tap last Wednesday and that night, again severe headache, nausea, and vomiting. We were admitted to the hospital and given IV decadron, depakote, compazine, toradol, and Benadryl.
