t mean to interrupt but I am actually a pharmacist and thought I could clarify the maxalt questions.... Maxalt is not a beta blocker. It is a 5HT1B receptor agonist. Basically it's a triptan drug that is used for vascular migraines. Vascular migraines cause vasodilation of blood vessels and that dilation causes pain. Triptan drugs cause vasoconstriction of those blood vessels and thus reduced the pain caused by pressure.

Has anyone used Remeron for depression, while taking Maxalt for their migraines? I have migraines about every other day, and take 5mg maxalt for them. I was just given Remeron for depression, as the doc said i cannot take any SSRI's because of serotonin syndrome. I cannot find and interactions for Remeron, but just wondering if anyone else has tried these together. Any info appreciated.

She proclaims that she diluted and injected her migraine medicine (Maxalt) because she keeps throwing it up. Her symptoms, however, where those of an opiate overdose....blue hands and face, low respiration, eyes rolling backwards, staggering, tremoring arms upon waking up, disorientation, etc. Does anyone know what the side effects would be of injecting maxalt? I find this impossible to believe that it would knock her out and turn her blue.

I was on topomax for over 6 months for migraines but I believe it might be partially responsible for putting me into a huge suicidal depression especially since I have been up to 100mg. Should I go off it? My Doctor doesn't believe it is the cause and wants me to take an antidepressant. I have been on several anti-depressant meds and haven't found one that really works for me. The most recent I have been on is Cymbalta and it made me nauseated all the time.

does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.

My question is, are these rebound headaches from the Maxalt? I use the Maxalt no more then once to twice a week. This could also be sinus headaches too, I'm not 100% sure as I feel pressure in my head also. Is it okay to take the Maxalt 1-2 times a week? I also have a spinal cord nerve injury and I do take the long acting oxycontin every 8 hours for the pain.

They have been increasing in quantity and severity until about a year and a half ago I had to stop working completely. I am on a combination of darvacet, tramadol, topomax and maxalt. The combination leaves me in bed about 18 hours a day. I have had two MRIs. One with contrast and one without. Neither shows any good reason for my pain. The headache never goes away and I have no idea what makes it hit so hard every few days (room blacked out and crawling to the bathroom). Am I the only one.

My friend had called me and I told her that I was too sick to talk and that I had run out of my Maxalt. My friend is a life saver! When she got off of work, she picked up my Maxalt and brought it to me. She also brought me some hot dogs, chips and pop because I had nothing to eat in the house. Hubby left on Wednsday and took the kids up to the cabin, so I've been here alone. I thought that was extremely nice of my friend to go and do that for me.

Yes, definelty read as much as you can about all the medicines he is taking!!!! I am on Oxycodone, Maxalt, Propranolol, Cymbalta and Ambien. Through my OWN research on these medicines, I found that I should not mix any of them together....but yet, My Dr. nor the Pharmacy told me it was dangerous so at first, I was....I could have died. Luckily, I only take the Maxalt as needed for Migraines and I always take my last pain pill a few hours before bed...

When I was having frequent migraines and my insurance would only pay for one refill of Maxalt each month, I obtained prescriptions for both Maxalt and Relpax and filled both each month. They worked equally well for me.

I also get migraines. have you paid attention to any of the known migraine "triggers" like red wiine & chocolate, hard cheeses etc. You probably have but I thought I'd mention it. Like the others, I take Maxalt for mine & it always works. Maxalt is from the migraine interrupter family & also includes imetrix & Zomig. Good luck - it sounds very difficult.

i took 2 maxalt on saturday for a migraine, it didnt help at all, actually made it worse making me vomit for 3 days and today is friday, 6 days later and i still feel like, tired, weak, foggy, not hungry, cant really go to the bathroom even though i feel like i have to. is this gonna go away?

I thought I would see if someone here may have some insight into an ongoing problem a friend of mine is having. She's 40 yrs old, suffers from migraines, takes Effexor for depression and thinks she may have fibromyalgia.

My first 2pregnacys they also gave me vicoden for when migranes were unbearable. This pregnancy my Dr told me I could also take maxalt( I was told w my first 2 that maxalt was not safe AT ALL) after doing some research I decided against maxalt but am continuing firocet.

Maxalt! Maxalt is a great triptan! I think that the fast acting triptans like Maxalt-MLTs are some of the best. Fast acting triptans are any triptans that are orally disintegrating tablets (like the Maxalt-MLTs) or Nasal Sprays or Injections. I use Zomig Nasal Spray which is another type of fast acting triptan, but Maxalt-MLTs work amazingly too... out of all of the triptans I've tried I think that Maxalt-MLTs and Zomig Nasal Spray have worked much faster than any of the other triptans.

The doctors want to say it is depression.OK, I agree he does have chronic depression....but the pain he endures with these migraines is clearly not depression symptoms. He also has arthritis.. What could this be?

It is an older antidepressant. It can help with twitching/nerve pain, depression and migraine. It can also make you gain weight. I just started Tegretol, an anti-seizure medication. Dr said it should show results very quick, 3-4 weeks. If no relief by then, discontinue it, it's not going to work. Been on it two days. Will keep you posted in case it might help someone else.

Hello! I am 34 years old for the past 2 years I have been getting nausea with constant headache for 6 days before my period. It's to the point where I'm on zofran and have maxalt for headache. I can't leave my house because I feel like I'm going to vomit but I don't. I guess that's a good thing, lol zofran works. Once I get my period it goes away! Anyone experience this or have any feedback thank you!!!

Hey there, Maxalt shouldn't cause rebound headaches, BUT it is true that you can only take 2 doses every 24 hours. So, never take more than two doses in 24 hours and never take more then 2 doses for the SAME migraine. OTC medications such as Ibuprofen (advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) are much more likely to cause rebound headaches than triptans such as Maxalt.

He has seen a number of psychologists to help him deal with the pain and the depression it is causing him. There is something physically wrong.

Hello Everyone, I'm 22 and just graduated University. I have been having migraines since I was about 7 years old now. However, over the years they have seemed to get much worse. I thought that the higher frequency could have been from my lack of sleep and bad diet that I had throughout high school and college. Now that I have been out of college for over a month now the migraines haven't seemed to subside.

Right now I'm on my 7th migraine in the last 4 weeks. I have a herniated c5-7 that is compressing on the spinal cord. I've been taking Maxalt with some of my migraines, which does help, but insurance only allows so many in a month and they are expensive. I've been also taking percocet in place of the maxalt, but it does not work as well for the headaches. Is there something I can do to try and prevent these migraines? Are there other natural alternatives rather then medication?

I went to the neurologist yesterdayand they have now ordered and MRI brain scan set for 3:30 this afternoon. They also gave me nortryptaline and maxalt to take instead of the fioricet that I've been taking. The maxalt worked right away, but I did wake up later on last night with a headache again. I go back to the neurologist next month for a follow-up.

HI, my husband just moved to India for a month and has forgotten his prescription medication in America (Maxalt MLT) Is there anyone who would know what the Indian version of Maxalt MLT would be? I have had migraines since i was 15, I am now 37, about 10 years ago my daughters pediatrician at the time finally reccomended I see a neurologist from that point on I have tried and retried every migraine medication they make it seems. I am on Inderal, Topamax, Skelaxin, Maxalt Mlt plus the narcotics that are still sometimes needed from time to time.
