8 months and was wondering if I began to take Topamax again would it help with weight loss or once it has leveled off it will no longer aid in weight loss? I currently take Maxalt for headaches only as needed so the Topamax was only used as an anti-seizure med. Please let me know so that I can discuss this with my neurologist about adding Topamax back into my daily routine. Thank you, any help you could give would be wonderful. I used to average about 110 lbs.

does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Hey there, Maxalt shouldn't cause rebound headaches, BUT it is true that you can only take 2 doses every 24 hours. So, never take more than two doses in 24 hours and never take more then 2 doses for the SAME migraine. OTC medications such as Ibuprofen (advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) are much more likely to cause rebound headaches than triptans such as Maxalt.

I saw the doctor for the first appt and she put me on Zonisamide as a migraine preventative and Maxalt-MLT 10 mg as a rescue medication as well as ordering some labs, an MRI and an MRA. All tests came back normal. The Maxalt worked well when I got the migraines but insurance wasn't too happy with it so we had to switch. She then put me on Relpax which didn't work at all. The Zonisamide gave me some pretty intense heart palpitations so I was switched to Topomax.

I went to the neurologist yesterdayand they have now ordered and MRI brain scan set for 3:30 this afternoon. They also gave me nortryptaline and maxalt to take instead of the fioricet that I've been taking. The maxalt worked right away, but I did wake up later on last night with a headache again. The first time I took Maxalt-Mlt it made me a bit dizzy. Also my nose and fingers got very cold. However I didn't experience vomiting so I would call your doctor asap about that. Another thing, you can only take two of those within a 24 hour period. If the first one didn't work, wait two hours then take another. Pls call your doctor regarding this. Keep us updated pls.

After over two years of seeing all the neurosurgeons and ENT doctors amongst others including opthomogists on Maui for many head neck, back, migraine, jaw, hearing, lung, sinus, heart, passing out,seeing floating white or green spots,dizzy, loss of memory, spacing out, ear ringing constantly, losing 25 lbs of weight and many more related problems, No one has figured this out. I had a MRI and the report did not tell the doctors anything that helps them and they do not look at my MRI films.

Please do some research on histamine intolerance. Try a low histamine diet for at least 3 weeks. NO CHEESE, TOMATOES, CHOCOLATE, RED WINE, SPINACH, STRAWBERRIES, ETC. Try an Anti-histamine (ie. Zyrtec, Claritin, Benadryl) while dieting to see if they help. GOOD LUCK.
