Maxalt and vicodin

Common Questions and Answers about Maxalt and vicodin

maxalt

Avatar n tn I take 2 to 4 Maxalt with 1 to 2 oxycodone (10mg) or vicodin (500 mg) per day, I have chronic migraine. It's not really per day, it just seems like it since my migraine usually last 2 to 4 days too. Just recently found out am 5 weeks pregnant. So I stopped the Maxalt right away since it falls under category C. So I take either Oxy or Vicodin. Half the time I cut them in half. I usually take the other half later on when I start feeling the pain coming back.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar f tn m going to assume the later). Maxalt is available in a regular tablet form and an oral dissentigrating (ODT) form. The regular tablet form is now available in generic and is fairly cheap. If you received the brand name only ODT version then I would make sure the MD writes for only generic drugs and ask the pharmacist (who should have mentioned it came in generic in a different formulation) if there is something similar that the MD can change it to before you pay a lot for a RX.
Avatar f tn I have migraines about every other day, and take 5mg maxalt for them. I was just given Remeron for depression, as the doc said i cannot take any SSRI's because of serotonin syndrome. I cannot find and interactions for Remeron, but just wondering if anyone else has tried these together. Any info appreciated.
Avatar f tn Also, my symtoms don't exactly match the standard either, but after going to a Headache clinic I was confirmed as having migraines-the pain is on either the left or right front of my forehead never goes beyond the ears and can be a real pain unless I catch them at the beginning, if wake up with "full blown" it becomes a race btw the Maxalt and the migraine, I have had anywhere from 15-18 per month, also have to use strong coffee and ice pack or it's just a waste of the Maxalt a
Avatar f tn I went to the neurologist yesterdayand they have now ordered and MRI brain scan set for 3:30 this afternoon. They also gave me nortryptaline and maxalt to take instead of the fioricet that I've been taking. The maxalt worked right away, but I did wake up later on last night with a headache again. I go back to the neurologist next month for a follow-up.
Avatar m tn ve been in recovery for ten years, andas long as iIhad someone to hold my hand, support me and my habit and agree when the world was against me, why clean up. Again, great advice and good luck. I know you love them but this is best. At the rate your currently going, you'll love her into the ground, where my brother is. (I know that is harsh but it's the awful truth of addiction. Jails, institutions, and death.
Avatar m tn Between then an now he has seen, an Ophthalmologist, Pediatric- Ophthalmologist, Neurologist, Neuro-Ophthalmologist (2 different). Along with that he has seen biofeedback, Psychologists, and pain management doctors. Nobody seems to have any idea of what is wrong. We had surgery to repain an old sinus fracture with an entrapped muscle which did nothing. Any ideas of where to go or what type of specialist to see about this issue? My son is in so much pain that his life is on hold.
Avatar f tn I used to take Immitrex but it stopped working. Maxalt seems to work good for me as to headaches and vicodin does not work for migraines so don't bother. Work with your neuro trying different meds to get a handle on it and check out the definition of SCM to see if that describes your pain. chronic pain is no fun. Hope you find some relief.
Avatar n tn If your Doctor is aware of the potential side effects of Tramadol and Maxalt and you are being closely monitored, then I apologize for alarming you. If not, you definitely need to talk to him/her about it. Should you decide to discontinue one of these drugs before speaking with your Doctor, the Maxalt would be the one. Don't stop taking the Tramadol. It has to be tapered down.
655875 tn?1295695107 My friend had called me and I told her that I was too sick to talk and that I had run out of my Maxalt. My friend is a life saver! When she got off of work, she picked up my Maxalt and brought it to me. She also brought me some hot dogs, chips and pop because I had nothing to eat in the house. Hubby left on Wednsday and took the kids up to the cabin, so I've been here alone. I thought that was extremely nice of my friend to go and do that for me.
Avatar f tn When I was having frequent migraines and my insurance would only pay for one refill of Maxalt each month, I obtained prescriptions for both Maxalt and Relpax and filled both each month. They worked equally well for me.
7543158 tn?1391978069 I had super bad migraines for over 3 years now and not even topomax, maxalt, ecedrine, tylenol, advil ANYTHING took the agony away. I was always in screaming pain for 5-8 hours having at least 3 a day. Then my obgyn prescribed me butal/ acetaminophen/codiene and it helped SO much, within 30 minutes the pain and migraine went away and didn't come back. who knew my obgyn would help better than my doctor? Lol.
Avatar n tn The first time I took Maxalt-Mlt it made me a bit dizzy. Also my nose and fingers got very cold. However I didn't experience vomiting so I would call your doctor asap about that. Another thing, you can only take two of those within a 24 hour period. If the first one didn't work, wait two hours then take another. Pls call your doctor regarding this. Keep us updated pls.
Avatar f tn None of my babies had any withdrawal - and I was able to breastfeed all three. They are 12yrs, 9yrs, and 6 yrs now and are all very healthy and bright. The oldest was 6 weeks premature and had a small bleed in his brain, but the neonatologist was very clear that the medications I was on had nothing to do with his early arrival. He has a reading disability, but that is hereditary (my husband has the same reading disorder).
Avatar f tn I'm now 20 weeks pregnant and suffer from migraines and daily tension headaches. I get them daily. I was prescribed Fioricet, but everything I've read scares me. I had a friend who took them almost daily due to hormonal headaches which increased with pregnancy and her baby is healthy.
Avatar f tn Maxalt rocks. I love it and carry it everywhere with me. www.maxalt.com Another new med www.relpax.com (I have some, just not had a headache lately to use them) because I take my magnesium :0-). Here is a good site with migraine info. http://www.achenet.org/ And you need to get your migraine "bible" I got mine off of half.com cheap. This book helped me a lot in understanding my headaches and lots of good info.
Avatar f tn I have tried numerous medications. (Amerge, Imitrex, Toradol, Fioricet, Maxalt, Indocin, Lithium, Imitrex Injections, Vicodin, Perocet.. I beleive there is a few others I just can't think of them at this time) I am now being treated with Zonegran, Depakote. The Zonegran was working for a little while but I have seemed to reach a plateau. I have not been migraine free at all since November, but there have been times where my migraines have been less painful.
1577473 tn?1296177286 I saw the doctor for the first appt and she put me on Zonisamide as a migraine preventative and Maxalt-MLT 10 mg as a rescue medication as well as ordering some labs, an MRI and an MRA. All tests came back normal. The Maxalt worked well when I got the migraines but insurance wasn't too happy with it so we had to switch. She then put me on Relpax which didn't work at all. The Zonisamide gave me some pretty intense heart palpitations so I was switched to Topomax.
Avatar f tn d have trigeminal neuralgia, tinnitis, one eye would blur, and he often lost the hearing in one ear. And then the global head pain would come on. All abortive medications except Maxalt would fail to work, and even Maxalt didn't work all of the time. His attacks would last hours to days, sometimes bad enough that he was vomiting and suicidal from the pain level.

Avatar f tn Migraine usually presents with other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound. Rest, pain medication and ice pack may help. Take care and do keep us posted.
1030950 tn?1261010513 Hey there, Maxalt shouldn't cause rebound headaches, BUT it is true that you can only take 2 doses every 24 hours. So, never take more than two doses in 24 hours and never take more then 2 doses for the SAME migraine. OTC medications such as Ibuprofen (advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) are much more likely to cause rebound headaches than triptans such as Maxalt.
