Maxalt and fioricet

Common Questions and Answers about Maxalt and fioricet

maxalt

Avatar f tn I went to the neurologist yesterdayand they have now ordered and MRI brain scan set for 3:30 this afternoon. They also gave me nortryptaline and maxalt to take instead of the fioricet that I've been taking. The maxalt worked right away, but I did wake up later on last night with a headache again. I go back to the neurologist next month for a follow-up.
Avatar f tn I'm now 20 weeks pregnant and suffer from migraines and daily tension headaches. I get them daily. I was prescribed Fioricet, but everything I've read scares me. I had a friend who took them almost daily due to hormonal headaches which increased with pregnancy and her baby is healthy.
Avatar n tn but i was at a point where i was getting headaches every day and migraines a couple times a week. horrible! i got the ulcer and quit taking all excedrin and eventually fioricet as well......3 months later, my stomach feels as good as new and most importantly NO HEADACHES! no migraines, EVER! **knock on wood!*** this drug causes migraines....causes pain when taken every day. hopefully if your wife gets free of it, she will experience what i did......
Avatar n tn I have been taking roughly 4 tablets/day (sometimes more, sometimes less) for up to a year. The migraines have gotten under control (what is what I was prescribed it for), but now I'm trying to cut out the fioricet due to dependence. I plan on slowly tapering to decrease severity of withdrawal. I've read through a lot of the old fioricet posts on here and know that many of you were taking much higher doses but I'm still pretty nervous.
Avatar m tn The only thing I can suggest is trying Fioricet or Fiorinal which are prescribed generally for tension headaches. I suffered with those and still do and for me Fioricet is the only thing that works...I was giving a ton of different migraines medications which never worked.
Avatar f tn I was on midrin for a long while but I got used to it and started to max out and had the aide of other pills. I was put on Maxalt and it stopped working in a couple of months and I often time had to mix it with other pills. Between appt I took excedrin extra strength, I was taking 3 or 4 pills for two hours. The new pills they had put me on was a "pre migraine pill" imitrex and a once you get a migraine pill" Fioricet. But the Fioricet is beggining to stop working.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, both Fioricet AND codeine are addicting. Fioricet should be tapered. So, either taper down or get the doctor to change you to plain Fioricet and taper down from that; eliminating the codeine right away. We are not allowed to offer tapering advice here but it's simple. Just cut back a small amount of the pills per day every week. Or ask the doctor to give you taper plan. Fioricet is difficult to detox from because the wd's are very strange AND dangerous...
Avatar f tn s Maxalt and many other triptans that may help you when you get a migraine. But once the Fioricet clears out, even Advil can help (at least for me!). By the second month, I felt like a new person. I went to some women's AA meetings for support (quiet and listened), and that got me through those early times. You are on the right path--you will feel so much better once that horrible med is out of your system. You will become yourself again and feel real feelings--and that is GOOD!!
Avatar f tn They actually told the drs that Ibuprophen or advil works JUST as good and to take all patients off fiorinal and fioricet and put them on high dose ibuprophen!!! well, Ibuprophen NEVER worked for my migraines. but my Dr isn't listening and now i'm suffering and missing out on life because without fiorinal I'm bedridden for days with ice on my head in bed- can't even watch tV! they should have to suffer like this- it's criminal what they are doing to us in pain.
612876 tn?1355514495 gave me a shot of Toredol and also gave me a prescription for Fioricet. The Fioricet worked very well. I have a lot of tension headaches too and of course they accompany my migraines (as if one weren't fun enough??). I have been using the Fioricet for pain in general and it has worked better than anything else I have ever taken (Flexeril, Baclofen, Ibuprofen 800, Tylenol w/Codeine). I usually need pain meds roughly 3-4 days a week. My dr.
Avatar f tn It took away the headache, however, I have to drive a lot for work and it made me very drowsy and dizzy, and each day I needed more Fioricet to control the headache (started with 1 pill per day, on day 7 was taking 1 pill every 4-5 hours). So, I stopped the Fioricet, and ended up in the ER again a few days later after spending the night curled up in a ball with a horrific headache and vomiting several times. 1. Do I have migranes?
Avatar n tn t had fioricet for 3.5 weeks now and am down to taking 1 or 2 demerols a day and am working on cutting them out completely (only have 7 left and refused to ask for more). However, it seems I am feeling a bit anxious and jittery inside. Is this likely the withdrawals or just my imagination? Is it safe for me to go ahead and stop taking everything? No other real symptoms except the jitters, but this scares me as I used to have panic attacks and I do not want those nasty things to return.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar f tn I have been put on Midrin, Darvocet, Maxalt, Inderal, Fioricet and anti-inflammatory medications and nothing has worked. I have seen a neurologist who says the cyst is nothing and thinks I am having tension headaches. He put me on an anti-depressant (the name of which I can't remember) that is designed for tension headaches and it did nothing. I was wanting to know when a cyst can cause symptoms such as headaches?
Avatar f tn m going to assume the later). Maxalt is available in a regular tablet form and an oral dissentigrating (ODT) form. The regular tablet form is now available in generic and is fairly cheap. If you received the brand name only ODT version then I would make sure the MD writes for only generic drugs and ask the pharmacist (who should have mentioned it came in generic in a different formulation) if there is something similar that the MD can change it to before you pay a lot for a RX.
Avatar n tn ve been getting the headaches/migraines about once every two weeks. I take maxalt and fiorinal and the maxalt works much better. The fiorinal does not make a huge difference, so I rarely take it.
Avatar f tn I'm realizing after finishing a benzo detox a week ago, I might also be facing a barbituate detox from the phenobarbital and the fioricet. Im already prone to seizures. I'm having trouble knowing if I just feel uncomfortable or if I'm in actual danger. I'm so terrified. When I left detox they told me itsunlikely I'd seize but they didn't say impossible.
Avatar f tn I have migraines about every other day, and take 5mg maxalt for them. I was just given Remeron for depression, as the doc said i cannot take any SSRI's because of serotonin syndrome. I cannot find and interactions for Remeron, but just wondering if anyone else has tried these together. Any info appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have tried numerous medications. (Amerge, Imitrex, Toradol, Fioricet, Maxalt, Indocin, Lithium, Imitrex Injections, Vicodin, Perocet.. I beleive there is a few others I just can't think of them at this time) I am now being treated with Zonegran, Depakote. The Zonegran was working for a little while but I have seemed to reach a plateau. I have not been migraine free at all since November, but there have been times where my migraines have been less painful.
Avatar f tn I started going through what I believe are withdrawl symptoms because of my alchohol and fioricet use (abuse). I drink 2-3 glasses of white wine every night and end up taking one fioricet in the morning to combat my headache and sluggishness from the wine the night before. Sometimes, I might take another fioricet if my headache returns in the afternoon, but that is no more than maybe once a week. I took my fioricet as ususal yesterday am and again in the afternoon.
1690584 tn?1340297472 Also Fioricet has both a barbiturate and caffeine. Caffeine should be limited to 200 mg or less per day while pregnant and one Fioricet has 40mg. Definitely do some research before taking Fioricet while pregnant. I've been taking Tylenol for my migraines while pregnant which doesn't entirely get rid of them but at least keeps them at bay. I have also found that warm showers and a heating pad on my neck helps some. Best wishes for you...hopefully your migraines will ease up!
Avatar f tn Also, my symtoms don't exactly match the standard either, but after going to a Headache clinic I was confirmed as having migraines-the pain is on either the left or right front of my forehead never goes beyond the ears and can be a real pain unless I catch them at the beginning, if wake up with "full blown" it becomes a race btw the Maxalt and the migraine, I have had anywhere from 15-18 per month, also have to use strong coffee and ice pack or it's just a waste of the Maxalt a
Avatar f tn m vomiting, suffering from extreme anxiety and shaking so badly I can barely function. I have a box of suboxone left and was wondering if they might help me get thru the withdrawal of the Fioricet. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!!!
Avatar f tn I am taking 2-Fioricet (butalbital, actaminophen, and caffeine- 50/325/40 )daily for tension headaches for 3 years and 1mg clonazepam at bedtime for 15 years for restless leg syndrome. I ran out of the clonazepam prescription-- last day was Saturday. Monday night was sleepless, and by Tues. late afternoon, became nauseated, dry heaving, shaking, chills--no fever. I thought I had the flu.
Avatar m tn ve been in recovery for ten years, andas long as iIhad someone to hold my hand, support me and my habit and agree when the world was against me, why clean up. Again, great advice and good luck. I know you love them but this is best. At the rate your currently going, you'll love her into the ground, where my brother is. (I know that is harsh but it's the awful truth of addiction. Jails, institutions, and death.
86075 tn?1238115091 it works really fast i just cant spray anything up my nose! haha one time was all i could handle. i take maxalt. for me it works the fastest. your dr. will probably give you several diff. kinds of samples and have you see which works best on you.
Avatar f tn Well not my migraines have gotten so bad that I had to go to labor and delivery and I told the doc that I did not want to be put on any narcotics because of fear of the withdrawls and my baby. So they put me on Fioricet. Well I just looked it up and well I guess I can become depended on it as well! I guess my question is. If anyone out there knows if this can effect my baby and if my baby will have withdrawls from it as well.
