Maxalt and caffeine

Common Questions and Answers about Maxalt and caffeine

maxalt

Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
655875 tn?1295695107 These include Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others) or aspirin to help relieve mild migraines and combinations of acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine specifically meant for moderate migraine attacks (Excedrin Migraine). The drug of choice however are triptans such as Sumatriptan (Imitrex), rizatriptan (Maxalt), naratriptan (Amerge), zolmitriptan (Zomig), almotriptan (Axert), frovatriptan (Frova) and eletriptan (Relpax).
Avatar f tn m going to assume the later). Maxalt is available in a regular tablet form and an oral dissentigrating (ODT) form. The regular tablet form is now available in generic and is fairly cheap. If you received the brand name only ODT version then I would make sure the MD writes for only generic drugs and ask the pharmacist (who should have mentioned it came in generic in a different formulation) if there is something similar that the MD can change it to before you pay a lot for a RX.
979826 tn?1389036358 thanks guys and i do have a stimulator and its great!
Avatar m tn The best OTC meds that I have found that works is Excedrin. It is a combo of Aspirin, Tylenol and Caffeine and that happens to be an excellent combo for migraines. 5. I mentioned caffeine before...well, drink coffee, Mt Dew, take Vivirin...sometimes a mega dose of caffeine will stop it in its tracks. 6. If you get nauseous or dizzy get some Meclizine from the pharmacy (the stuff behind the counter) you can take 25mg three times a day as needed. Yes it works on both.
Avatar n tn This pregnancy they gave me firocet which is more caffeine and tylonal(different doctor w this pregnancy) sometimes they work but it just depends on your body.I get cluster migranes and will be down for days at a time.they told me I could continue my regular migrane meds(maxalt) but after reading up on the affects it could have on baby I can't bring myself to take it.
Avatar f tn I have migraines about every other day, and take 5mg maxalt for them. I was just given Remeron for depression, as the doc said i cannot take any SSRI's because of serotonin syndrome. I cannot find and interactions for Remeron, but just wondering if anyone else has tried these together. Any info appreciated.
Avatar f tn Also, my symtoms don't exactly match the standard either, but after going to a Headache clinic I was confirmed as having migraines-the pain is on either the left or right front of my forehead never goes beyond the ears and can be a real pain unless I catch them at the beginning, if wake up with "full blown" it becomes a race btw the Maxalt and the migraine, I have had anywhere from 15-18 per month, also have to use strong coffee and ice pack or it's just a waste of the Maxalt a
1806721 tn?1554333407 Excedrin is much better than plain Tylenol. Excedrin has Tylenol, Aspirin and Caffeine. It is an excellent combination for migraines. And for the dizziness and nausea....this is going to sound crazy but I swear it works....Meclizine. You can take one 3 times daily. And it is OTC but you have to get at a pharmacy I have never been pregnant so, I cannot say those meds are safe...but, you don't have to wait for your OB to call back....any Pharmacist will be able to tell you!
Avatar f tn I went to the neurologist yesterdayand they have now ordered and MRI brain scan set for 3:30 this afternoon. They also gave me nortryptaline and maxalt to take instead of the fioricet that I've been taking. The maxalt worked right away, but I did wake up later on last night with a headache again. I go back to the neurologist next month for a follow-up.
Avatar m tn ve been in recovery for ten years, andas long as iIhad someone to hold my hand, support me and my habit and agree when the world was against me, why clean up. Again, great advice and good luck. I know you love them but this is best. At the rate your currently going, you'll love her into the ground, where my brother is. (I know that is harsh but it's the awful truth of addiction. Jails, institutions, and death.
1030950 tn?1261010513 Hey there, Maxalt shouldn't cause rebound headaches, BUT it is true that you can only take 2 doses every 24 hours. So, never take more than two doses in 24 hours and never take more then 2 doses for the SAME migraine. OTC medications such as Ibuprofen (advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) are much more likely to cause rebound headaches than triptans such as Maxalt.
Avatar m tn For a week I was diagnosed with a run of the mill bug, and after a week on an anti biotic I was fine...but still this nauseous feeling has continued to the point I'm not even able to drink without feeling sick. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?
Avatar n tn If your Doctor is aware of the potential side effects of Tramadol and Maxalt and you are being closely monitored, then I apologize for alarming you. If not, you definitely need to talk to him/her about it. Should you decide to discontinue one of these drugs before speaking with your Doctor, the Maxalt would be the one. Don't stop taking the Tramadol. It has to be tapered down.
450140 tn?1317947304 I have horrible pain behind my left eye and feel a headache coming on. I took my meds and now feel like a zombie. I just dont know what to do. If I did not live30 mins from hospital, I think I would get in my car a go. I called the neuro. and of course they take their sweet time getting back to you. The nurse has to ok early appt with doc. GIVE ME A BREAK! I am suffering and not getting any relief. This is all so fustrating.
655875 tn?1295695107 My friend had called me and I told her that I was too sick to talk and that I had run out of my Maxalt. My friend is a life saver! When she got off of work, she picked up my Maxalt and brought it to me. She also brought me some hot dogs, chips and pop because I had nothing to eat in the house. Hubby left on Wednsday and took the kids up to the cabin, so I've been here alone. I thought that was extremely nice of my friend to go and do that for me.
Avatar f tn When I was having frequent migraines and my insurance would only pay for one refill of Maxalt each month, I obtained prescriptions for both Maxalt and Relpax and filled both each month. They worked equally well for me.
Avatar n tn The first time I took Maxalt-Mlt it made me a bit dizzy. Also my nose and fingers got very cold. However I didn't experience vomiting so I would call your doctor asap about that. Another thing, you can only take two of those within a 24 hour period. If the first one didn't work, wait two hours then take another. Pls call your doctor regarding this. Keep us updated pls.
Avatar f tn The triptan that I use is Zomig Nasal Spray, generic name Zolmitriptan. Some other examples of triptans are Maxalt, generic name Rizatriptan and Axert, generic name Almotriptan. It would be worth it to give one of these other triptans a try. I would suggest getting a triptan in a fast acting form, either a quick dissolve tablet or a nasal spray.
Avatar f tn I'm now 20 weeks pregnant and suffer from migraines and daily tension headaches. I get them daily. I was prescribed Fioricet, but everything I've read scares me. I had a friend who took them almost daily due to hormonal headaches which increased with pregnancy and her baby is healthy.
Avatar f tn Maxalt rocks. I love it and carry it everywhere with me. www.maxalt.com Another new med www.relpax.com (I have some, just not had a headache lately to use them) because I take my magnesium :0-). Here is a good site with migraine info. http://www.achenet.org/ And you need to get your migraine "bible" I got mine off of half.com cheap. This book helped me a lot in understanding my headaches and lots of good info.
390338 tn?1206462648 m curious why your dr. gave you Frova? Usually the triptans, like Imitrex and Maxalt are very effective and have fewer side effects..
Avatar n tn My blood pressure got quite high and I was prescribed hypotone. I was also put on Trepiline, Tramacet and Maxalt and an amjoxycillin (as I had a UTI). 4 days later I was feeling a bit better and was discharged- still on all the above meds, and so have had to discontinue breastfeeding (am expressing milk though). I am now on day 11 of these dreadful headaches. I am desperate to be able to get back to breastfeeding.
