maxalt

655875 tn?1295695107 ve been also taking percocet in place of the maxalt, but it does not work as well for the headaches. Is there something I can do to try and prevent these migraines? Are there other natural alternatives rather then medication?
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar f tn They actually told the drs that Ibuprophen or advil works JUST as good and to take all patients off fiorinal and fioricet and put them on high dose ibuprophen!!! well, Ibuprophen NEVER worked for my migraines. but my Dr isn't listening and now i'm suffering and missing out on life because without fiorinal I'm bedridden for days with ice on my head in bed- can't even watch tV! they should have to suffer like this- it's criminal what they are doing to us in pain.
Avatar f tn Do I have severe sinus headaches with totally normal-looking sinuses? Out of the prednisone, Maxalt, Advil, and Mucinex D, the Mucinex gives me the best relief from my headaches (usually almost all day). 3. Do I have rebound headaches? I have taken 400-800mg of Advil daily for a few months, but for the past 2.
Avatar f tn m going to assume the later). Maxalt is available in a regular tablet form and an oral dissentigrating (ODT) form. The regular tablet form is now available in generic and is fairly cheap. If you received the brand name only ODT version then I would make sure the MD writes for only generic drugs and ask the pharmacist (who should have mentioned it came in generic in a different formulation) if there is something similar that the MD can change it to before you pay a lot for a RX.
1030950 tn?1261010513 Hey there, Maxalt shouldn't cause rebound headaches, BUT it is true that you can only take 2 doses every 24 hours. So, never take more than two doses in 24 hours and never take more then 2 doses for the SAME migraine. OTC medications such as Ibuprofen (advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) are much more likely to cause rebound headaches than triptans such as Maxalt.
Avatar f tn I'm 21 female, I noticed this happening a few months back maybe in July or August, it was just a slight headache no big deal went away after a nap or an Advil. Now I'm starting to get them more frequent they're throbbing and I can hardly see straight nor stand. I also have nausea and dizziness and shortness of breathe. I hope this isn't a brain tumor. Anyone experience something similar?
Avatar m tn s only ever been in the back of my head and when it gets bad like if i dont take some type of tylenol or Advil right away it gets bad. I can always hear my heartbeat throbing in my head if i look down there's more pressure and hurts extremely bad I was in the hospital so much from 17-20 they gave me a cat scan i believe it was i guess it came out fine .
Avatar f tn Also, my symtoms don't exactly match the standard either, but after going to a Headache clinic I was confirmed as having migraines-the pain is on either the left or right front of my forehead never goes beyond the ears and can be a real pain unless I catch them at the beginning, if wake up with "full blown" it becomes a race btw the Maxalt and the migraine, I have had anywhere from 15-18 per month, also have to use strong coffee and ice pack or it's just a waste of the Maxalt a
Avatar f tn I went to the neurologist yesterdayand they have now ordered and MRI brain scan set for 3:30 this afternoon. They also gave me nortryptaline and maxalt to take instead of the fioricet that I've been taking. The maxalt worked right away, but I did wake up later on last night with a headache again. I go back to the neurologist next month for a follow-up.
Avatar m tn ve been in recovery for ten years, andas long as iIhad someone to hold my hand, support me and my habit and agree when the world was against me, why clean up. Again, great advice and good luck. I know you love them but this is best. At the rate your currently going, you'll love her into the ground, where my brother is. (I know that is harsh but it's the awful truth of addiction. Jails, institutions, and death.
Avatar n tn The first week a had a couple of severe headaches but this last week I have had one every day, with the most severe needing two Maxalt tablets and two advil. My gyn, I guess, thought it was time for me to stop.
Avatar f tn I used to take a lot of OTC like Tylenol and Advil to kill the pain. None of these gave me complete relief, and often made my headache worse. I was amazed when Sumatriptan came out in the 90's, as this is the only medication that really works for me. I take it in the form of Imitrex and Maxalt. I wish you and your son the best.
Avatar f tn I would suggest you to maintain a headache diary to identify the triggers and take magnesium and B complex supplements for relief.
1230912 tn?1273492770 Sorry I just had to vent a little because I already know I am going to be calling her in two weeks, I have a high tolerance to drugs and Aleve has never been better than Advil for me. I would rather stay on the ibuprofen but will give the naproxen a chance, maybe I will find it is better for some of the other inflammation I have? Thanks for listening to my vent!
Avatar f tn Still no relief! Finally, I took my Maxalt and low and behold the pain started to ease. I fell asleep thinking "Yes! Finally, the pain will be gone". I woke up from my nap and I'll be damned if my neck isn't just as stiff as before and my head is pounding. WTF! Is this a reaction to the Celexa?? How much longer will it take before the side effects go away?
Avatar n tn If your Doctor is aware of the potential side effects of Tramadol and Maxalt and you are being closely monitored, then I apologize for alarming you. If not, you definitely need to talk to him/her about it. Should you decide to discontinue one of these drugs before speaking with your Doctor, the Maxalt would be the one. Don't stop taking the Tramadol. It has to be tapered down.
7543158 tn?1391978069 I had super bad migraines for over 3 years now and not even topomax, maxalt, ecedrine, tylenol, advil ANYTHING took the agony away. I was always in screaming pain for 5-8 hours having at least 3 a day. Then my obgyn prescribed me butal/ acetaminophen/codiene and it helped SO much, within 30 minutes the pain and migraine went away and didn't come back. who knew my obgyn would help better than my doctor? Lol.
655875 tn?1295695107 My friend had called me and I told her that I was too sick to talk and that I had run out of my Maxalt. My friend is a life saver! When she got off of work, she picked up my Maxalt and brought it to me. She also brought me some hot dogs, chips and pop because I had nothing to eat in the house. Hubby left on Wednsday and took the kids up to the cabin, so I've been here alone. I thought that was extremely nice of my friend to go and do that for me.
Avatar f tn When I was having frequent migraines and my insurance would only pay for one refill of Maxalt each month, I obtained prescriptions for both Maxalt and Relpax and filled both each month. They worked equally well for me.
Avatar f tn advil is a minor anti inflammatory I have never heard of it prescribed for this before but it could help a little I suppose more widely prescribed for GM are some of the big anti inflammatories - particularly prednisone or methotrexate I did take Naproxen for some time, (months at a pretty high dose - it really attacks your stomach lining though so I went off), which I guess is a step up from advil, and is a non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID), can't say if it helped with the inflamma
Avatar f tn As some of you know I suffer from severe health anxiety...I started going through a particularly bad time last fall...I am constantly afraid of headaches, fevers, muscle aches etc..as a result of this I started taking advil constantly and I am up to about 10 to 12 liquigels a day..If I don't take them my anxiety goes through the roof and I start to imagine headaches, pain etc...this can't be good for me..and I don't know how to stop...
