Magnetic resonance angiogram mra

Common Questions and Answers about Magnetic resonance angiogram mra

angiogram

Avatar m tn A magnetic resonance angiogram (MRA) is a type of magnetic resonance image (MRI) scan that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to provide pictures of blood vessels inside the body
400099 tn?1282954864 MRA stand for "magnetic resonance angiography" which is just another term for MRI "magnetic resonance image". In other words you have an MRA in order to get an MRI.
Avatar n tn My question is I definitely want a sure answer to my symptoms, however do not want to go through more radiation. Would an MRA (magnetic resonance angiogram) be able to detect Coronary Artery Disease? Should I request an MRA rather than a CT angio, or should I be going with the cath?
Avatar f tn I have had neither at this point. I see the neurosurgeon in 2 days and am going to inquire about those tests.
Avatar n tn Gadolinium is an element that is used in a number of manufacturing processes and also in dyes that are used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA). Gadolinium is usually removed from the body by the kidneys. However, in people who have kidney problems have kidneys that do not function properly and gadolinium may stay longer. Therefore, the risks of toxicity from the Gadolinium are greater and may develop nephrogenic systemic fibrosis or NSF.
368646 tn?1208393887 Hi there. Apart from MRA or magnetic resonance angiography, Doppler/ultrasound of carotid arteries, to detect carotid artery stenosis or detection of the precerebral arteries. For the assessment of stable stroke, nuclear medicine scans SPECT and PET/ CT may be helpful. SPECT documents cerebral blood flow and PET with FDGisotope the metabolic activity of neurons. Hope this helps .Take care.
Avatar m tn A Magnetic resonance angiogram (MRA) may be done to rule out a possible hemangioma or AV malformation. If the lesion is indeed causing a lot of symptoms, then removal may be warranted. This could be in the form of open surgery, or sophisticated methods such as the gamma knife. I suggest you discuss all of these options with your doctors. Regards and God bless.
Avatar f tn To find out whether a blood vessel is pressing on the nerve, pictures of the brain arteries may be taken using Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), CT angiogram or X-rays of the arteries with a dye . If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Maybe a Doctor will make a better argument then I but the MRA I believe is a Magnetic Resonance Angiogram, whereby a dye is injected to analyze an aneurysm in greater detail. The MRI which you had is the gold standard for identification. CT scans are for folks that cannot have a MRI or have had a bleed. CT's are quicker but MRI's have more detail. I believe you got good information from your Neurologist, so try to relax, you'll be alright.
Avatar n tn Please consult a cardiologist and neurologist as soon as possible to go through all the investigations like Computerized tomography(CT scan), MRI scan, MRA (magnetic resonance angiogram), Computerized tomography with angiography, Conventional angiogram, Carotid Doppler ultrasound, Heart tests and Blood tests to detect inflammation of the arteries. Please take treatment to avoid stroke according to your risk factors. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar n tn It is best that your daughter continue to be careful of the activities she do and be warry of her symptoms. Other members of the family may also have to be worked up through MRI or MRA (magnetic resonance angiogram) just to detect if there are similar conditions (aneurysms or dissections). Regards.
Avatar m tn I was reading up on a Magnetic Resource Angiogram, (MRA) where they inject dye into the vein in the arm and simply take pictures using magnetic imaging, no cather flowing in my arteries. I would much rather prefer this method but I would like to know will it do a good enough job in detecting plaque build up in arteries as a Coronary Catherization?
Avatar f tn Other reasons can be cervical spondolysis and vertebrobasilar insufficiency.I feel that MRI neck and MRA(magnetic resonance angiography) can confirm if there is any compression of the neck veins. Apart from these, the other causes of lightheadedness are hypoglycemia, orthostatic hypotension,TIA,impending stroke, inner ear diseases, meniere’s disease, endocrine disorders like thyroid, adrenal glands, and pituitary gland disorders and carotid sinus syndrome.
Avatar m tn t squeeze you in today? Using a magnetic resonance machine, doing an MRA/MRV, is better than CT scan when looking for evidence of TIA (infarcts) in your head.
Avatar n tn I sincerely advise you to get evaluated for these possibilities and get investigations like blood sugar levels,ECG,echocardiography, nerve conduction tests ,MRA(magnetic resonance imaging) and MRI shoulder done.In my opinion you need to have a consultation of a neurologist/physician for these possibilities. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.
Avatar m tn magnetic resonance increases HCC risk so i didnt want to be monitored by any magnetic resonance, i prefer prevent HCC by gcmaf and very sensitive US Did anybody try magnetic resonance elastography?
Avatar m tn Other causes like peripheral vascular disease also have to be ruled out. You may need to get a peripheral artery magnetic resonance angiogram done to confirm the diagnosis. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
