1355431 tn?1369975306 She was very diligent about testing for that every time I came in and always told me if I had any symptoms to contact her.
Avatar f tn I have to take it every time after intercourse cause I'm so prone to getting uti's.
Avatar f tn Hi Most medications are contraindicated during pregnancy especially during the first three months when the unborn child’s organs start to develop. Macrobid is safe in pregnancy after the first 2 months or 8 weeks . Continuing its use will help prevent resistance to the medications later on. A close follow up with your physician is important and just take it as indicated by the doctor. Do not take it more than the intended number of days.

187316 tn?1386356682 I have just gotten off of meds for a horrible uti. I finished the meds yesterday. They are not to be taken during pregnancy. They are macrobid and metronidazole. Just found out I'm pregnant today and I'm super worried.
Avatar f tn You definitely need to get some antibiotics from your doctor asap. UTIs are common during pregnancy but can cause serious problems if not treated immediately. I had UTI during my first trimester, was prescribed Macrobid, and it was gone in a couple days. Best wishes!
551604 tn?1333983135 I have been on both macrobid and bactrim at different points during my pregnancy... I wasnt thrilled either time but my doctor reassured me many times that is was safe, much safer then not treating the infection. Trust me, im with you I really didnt want to take the med. But its not safe for baby to let the infection go, it can cause preterm labour and possible get to the baby.
Avatar f tn Macrobid is the safest antibiotic durning pregnancy... It has no side effects during pregnancy, I took it when I was 5weeks and the Dr, so the pharmacy tech advice it was safe!!!
362119 tn?1223137936 ok girls.. i got the macrobid filled.. Im just going to take it. Im still nervous about it but, the infection is probably worse for the baby.
Avatar f tn t go away without it. Macrobid is safe during pregnancy. Having an untreated infection to on is dangerous for you and your baby. It can cause you to have a kidney infection and go septic (which is when the infection gets so bad it goes into your blood stream). Take the meds and you'll be fine!
Avatar f tn s this pregnancy, therefore I have been put on macrobid for the remaining of my pregnancy. I have to take 1 every night until I deliver. Started @32 weeks am now 35+5. No problems from it yet. I haven't had any syptoms of uti so I would never known if it weren't for the urine soles at Dr. Office.
Avatar f tn This medication is extremely safe to take during pregnancy - your health care provider would not have prescribed it otherwise. The Internet is a risky place to get your medical information!
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctor about this immediately. My understanding is Macrobid has been known to cause problems when taken during late pregnancy: "If you get recurrent urinary tract infections or if the infection gets into your kidneys, your caregiver may recommend taking nitrofurantoin (trade name Macrodantin or Macrobid) for the rest of your pregnancy to prevent another infection.
Avatar n tn Definitely see your doctor.. It sounds like a uti. The last time I had a uti and didn't get it treated on time it ended up being really painful and causes kidney stones!
Avatar n tn She started me on Macrobid and told me to take another test. When reading the leaflet for the home pregnancy test it says antibiotics can effect the resulst so should i take the test or wait till the antibiotics are done.
1088689 tn?1258173691 I know exactly what you're going through...I have a history of kidney stones and UTI (with pregnancy and without) and I went in for blood in my urine and back pain...and they said that my urine was clear (no infection) and everything else looked fine..but that because of the blood they prescribed macrobid as a preventative. I did NOT take it, and I think I should have.
Avatar f tn Did anyone take macrobid for uti during third trimester?
Avatar f tn Are you pregnant? Macrobid is pregnancy category B--- used in pregnancy. Cipro, the gold standard is pregnancy category C--- not the best choice for someone who is pregnant. Amoxicillin isn't the best choice at all for a UTI based on the common bacteria that causes UTI's. Every infection is caused by a specific strain of bacteria. Some antibiotics are going to work better on different strains of bacteria.
Avatar f tn I think the best thing to do is try not to worry, easier said then done i know, iv had an ear infection the last week and was given ear drops, it says not to take during pregnancy so i started to read stuff online, so i thought i would get a second opinion from my midwife, she said everything they give you will say "dont take durintg pregnancy" but most of the stuff is harmless, she said aslong as your doctor/nurse know your pregnant and they have given you it, you have nothing to worr
9956829 tn?1410151895 s are very serious during pregnancy, they can turn very bad very quick into a kidney infection and cause complications. We do not know your medical history or anything important about your pregnancy, only your Dr can tell you if your baby is ok after taking over the counter medicine. Any infection needs to be treated with anti biotics given to you by your dr. If you go to the er they treat you same day, quick and easy.
Avatar f tn I recently finished a week long treatment of macrobid. I am experiencing spotting. How long does this last? https://www.ehealthme.
Avatar f tn I had no sign of a flare up until i took the macrobid, now im hobbling, cant use my left hand. The macrobid even caused swelling and breathing problems. Any ideas now on how to gain strength back in my left arm and hand?
Avatar f tn I’ve took 3 pregnancy test, 1 at home and 2 at the hospital and they all were negative. I’m currently taking Antibiotic Macrobid for my UTI and I was given 1 dose of naproxen At the hospital for my severe uti pain. Could any of this be the stopping my conception and implantation? My period is due in 6 days, what are the chances I can still be pregnant?
Avatar f tn Has have spotting or bleeding during there pregnancy and everything be ok? Ive been spotting for about a week off and on no cramps or heavy bleeding. Just wondering if its normal and if anyone has experienced it.
Avatar f tn Oh my. You are clearly very anxious. You used condoms, are a 'perfect birth control user' and took plan B. Plan B is a major whopping dose of hormones. It's going to throw your system off. Holy hormone overload! I think you are protected from pregnancy but in situations like this, you should get guidance from your doctor. You don't want to do more harm to your system by overdoing the anxious pregnancy prevention!
