1355431 tn?1369975306 My doc precribed me the antibiotic macrobid. She said it is safe during pregnancy but I have read so many post from woman online who say macrobid caused them problems nor even miscarriage. I have had 3 miscarriages and this pregnancy seems to be going really well. So im very nervous to take this med. Do any of you ladies know of any natural ways to get rid of a uti? Also if you have taken this med during pregnancy, what was the out come?
666089 tn?1260520261 s this pregnancy. both very safe to take. not sure about the diclectin and macrobid. call the pharmacist in the am. if you are in pain tonight you can take 2 tylenol (NOT IBProfen, Motrin or Advil--these aren't safe). I am currently waiting on tests for a kidney infection. doc has already started me on amoxycillin (just in case) and advised me to take 2 tylenol every 4 hours or as needed (i am not one to take drugs unless absolutely necessary).
Avatar f tn Your doctor should prescribe you something safe for your pregnancy...not saying that thats not safe because I'm not sure but when I had a UTI I got prescribed amoxcycillon..i think thats how u spell it..the reassured me it was safe for my baby. You can ask your doctor...he/she should know. If your not sure about using it ask for something else?
Avatar f tn t go away without it. Macrobid is safe during pregnancy. Having an untreated infection to on is dangerous for you and your baby. It can cause you to have a kidney infection and go septic (which is when the infection gets so bad it goes into your blood stream). Take the meds and you'll be fine!
Avatar f tn s this pregnancy, therefore I have been put on macrobid for the remaining of my pregnancy. I have to take 1 every night until I deliver. Started @32 weeks am now 35+5. No problems from it yet. I haven't had any syptoms of uti so I would never known if it weren't for the urine soles at Dr. Office.
Avatar f tn Are you pregnant? Macrobid is pregnancy category B--- used in pregnancy. Cipro, the gold standard is pregnancy category C--- not the best choice for someone who is pregnant. Amoxicillin isn't the best choice at all for a UTI based on the common bacteria that causes UTI's. Every infection is caused by a specific strain of bacteria. Some antibiotics are going to work better on different strains of bacteria.
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctor about this immediately. My understanding is Macrobid has been known to cause problems when taken during late pregnancy: "If you get recurrent urinary tract infections or if the infection gets into your kidneys, your caregiver may recommend taking nitrofurantoin (trade name Macrodantin or Macrobid) for the rest of your pregnancy to prevent another infection.
187316 tn?1386356682 I have just gotten off of meds for a horrible uti. I finished the meds yesterday. They are not to be taken during pregnancy. They are macrobid and metronidazole. Just found out I'm pregnant today and I'm super worried.

Avatar f tn Hi Most medications are contraindicated during pregnancy especially during the first three months when the unborn child’s organs start to develop. Macrobid is safe in pregnancy after the first 2 months or 8 weeks . Continuing its use will help prevent resistance to the medications later on. A close follow up with your physician is important and just take it as indicated by the doctor. Do not take it more than the intended number of days.
Avatar f tn I took amoxicillin for a UTI in the beginning of my pregnancy. As long as your doctor is okay with it and prescribes it for you, you should be fine.
Avatar n tn Is it safe to take the antibiotics Macrobid and Flagyl together? I'm 20 weeks and have both a UTI and bacterial infection. I know that my doctor wouldn't prescribe anything that would hurt the baby but there's still that lingering doubt in the back of my head that worries it isn't safe. Has anyone ever been pregnant and on both at the same time?
Avatar n tn Definitely see your doctor.. It sounds like a uti. The last time I had a uti and didn't get it treated on time it ended up being really painful and causes kidney stones!

Avatar f tn Oh my. You are clearly very anxious. You used condoms, are a 'perfect birth control user' and took plan B. Plan B is a major whopping dose of hormones. It's going to throw your system off. Holy hormone overload! I think you are protected from pregnancy but in situations like this, you should get guidance from your doctor. You don't want to do more harm to your system by overdoing the anxious pregnancy prevention!
9956829 tn?1410151895 Your doctor will give you amoxicillin. It is safe for you to take during pregnancy. You should never take anything without consulting your doctor first. I would call your doctor asap and let him/her know that you took something over the counter.

5601615 tn?1383450616 I was given macrobid at 20 weeks for a uti my dr said it was safe to take while pregnant. Im now almost 32 weeks and baby is fine. Although i think she said yeast infections were common with it I never got one. These sites online may not be the most reputable so I wouldn't listen much. Plus if you dont take meds you could end up with bladder or kidney infection.
