I had UTI and treated with Ciprofloxin ,after my family doctor changed the medicine to Macrobid 100 ( 2 times/day) for ten days.2 Urine tests are done and still the symptons fo Nitrofuratoin are available ,Dr says we have to continue .Internal physical rectal examination said right enlarge ment of prostrate. I am 44.PSA test shows high 62 .Doctor is still taking this as Prostitis.I have been asked to get another PSA after 10 days of Microbid course.
late August felt a sense of stinging at end of penis, then burning when urination. NP did urine test (found bacteria) and 7 days of macrobid....bacteria was gone but week later, still symptoms and after another urine test, it came back clean....but still "burning sensation" within penis. So, NP gave me 2 weeks of bactrim....which did nothing. Went to urologist who did tests on urine, PSA and prostate check...all came back fine. He put me on a month of cipro 500mg.
I have some recurring urological problems (prostatitis/epididymitis) and in the past have been prescribed Cipro. I have an appointment with the urologist coming up and am sure I will need another course of Cipro. I hate taking that stuff. Everytime I take it, I feel extremely tired. It is almost to the point that I can't work. Usually better after a week on the meds. Anybody else have that reaction? I guess it is a necessary evil because the urolological problems always get better.
Hello - Feb 16 - woke up with burning sensation inside penis, prescribed 7 day macrobid for suspected UTI, week later urine and urine culture came back normal. Put on 10 day Cipro suspected prostatitis, PSA, DRE and Trans Rectal Ultrasound all normal. Went to ER a few days later with pain in the penile shaft and glans. Examined by ER doctor and put on 10 days cipro and 1 dose cefixime. Went back to doctor, put me on 21 days sulfatrim for suspected Epidimitis-ochitis and ordered US.
then was given 5 days worth of flagyl a month ago (for possible trich), and over a week ago was given macrobid for only 3 days (felt better for a couple days). Have seen 2 urologists, both said I'm fine and nothing is wrong. At times it feels like a burning sensation, getting worse when I have to urinate. No discharge or burning while urinating. Any type of antibiotic to try or cream? It's been over 2 months and it's driving me crazy.
Went to the doctor, told him the story and he did dipstick urine test, which showed an infection and prescribed Macrobid. Worried me as it was out of the ordinary. The doctor thought that it was just a coincidence, as I did not have any penetration. I thought that I may have soaped myself too much in my effort to cleanse myself and also used hand sanitizor, which may have irritated the urethra.
DOES MACROBID CAUSE BLEEDING OR MAKE YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE COME EARLY. I JUST FINISHED MACROBID 7 DAY TREATMENT. MY MENSTRUAL CAME 3 DAYS EARLY AND THERE IS BRIGHT RED BLOOD AND USUALLY MY MENSTRUAL BLOOD IS NOT THAT BRIGHT. I INITIIALLY WASNT DUE FOR MY MENSTRUAL UNTIL YESTERDAY I'VE BEEN BLEEDING SINCE THE 3RD AND IM STILL BLEEDING BUT NOT ALOT LIKE I WAS YESTERDAY AND THE DAYS BEFORE BUT THE BLEEDING HAS LIGHTENED.
I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this? It is getting rather annoying and saddens me cause it feels like i cant do anymore what i like to. If anyone has had the same thing happen, please let me know im not alone... Hello - I saw my GP about a month ago after experiencing burning after urination. He did a urine test suspecting UTI and put me on macrobid(antibiotic) while he waited for the results. A week passed and there was no relief. Went back to GP and he said the results of the urinalysis and urine culture were normal but I told him about that the pain had since intensified.
Did anyone take macrobid for uti during third trimester?
Uti or bladder infection. My doctor proscribed me macrobid. Terrified to take it, anyone else had to use this while pregnant, I'm only 8 weeks!
Has anyone been perscribed, or taken macrobid at the ens of there pregnancy? I was proscribed it. I habe two different drs and im.being induced monday. And it DIRECTLY states dont use it 37 weeks or later or close to delivery. .. im scared and this pregnancy is so freaking hard on me. Im getting to the point of giving up. And i dont want to cause my boy and family need me to fight.

The urinalysis that was sent to the lab showed that their was a tiny bacteria but they werent sure if this was due to cross contamination. My questions are below, the dr took put me on macrobid saying this may help my issue.
1 Prescribed Macrrobid which I believe has Helped, Would this cure NGU? From what I read Macrobid is generally given for UTI's which im hoping is what I have. The dr never mentioned NGU to me .
I'm 52 and was prescribed macrobid for a UTI. Shortly after taking it I started having really severe heart palpitations. I have had them off and on since I was 29 and have been told it's probably due to my hypoglycemia. I was on macrobid for a UTI at the time of collection (started on macrobid Saturday, had 4 doses by the time of collection on Monday morning, blood work as fasting so last dose taken before blood collection was over 12 hours previously). Does anyone know if macrobid affects eGFR or is this level an induction of possible kidney infection/disease/cancer?
I've been told I have a UTI and was given Macrobid/Nitrofurantoin. I have taken 3 tablets but out of curiosity I looked them up on the internet and it said some women have lost their babies days after taking the tablets.

Is either proteus mirabilis or proteus vulgaris resistant to macrobid? I have a UTI that is resistant to macrobid and my doctor mentioned one of the above as the cause--I believe. I had to switch to another antibiotic. Just curious?
