I have been prescribed nitrofurantoin (macrobid) for a UTI. I have a hard time swallowing pills. Can these be broken up?
Is either proteus mirabilis or proteus vulgaris resistant to macrobid? I have a UTI that is resistant to macrobid and my doctor mentioned one of the above as the cause--I believe. I had to switch to another antibiotic. Just curious?

Has anyone taken these and had a healthy pregnancy?!
If you get recurrent urinary tract infections or if the infection gets into your kidneys, your caregiver may recommend taking nitrofurantoin (trade name Macrodantin or Macrobid) for the rest of your pregnancy to prevent another infection. You should stop taking this drug at about 36 weeks (or immediately if you go into preterm labor) because there's a very small risk that it will destroy some of your baby's red blood cells if you take it within several days of delivery.
I am allergic to PCN and Cipro and have been given Nitrofurantoin for 7 days. I am very afraid to take it. Does anyone have any experiences with it or can recommend other meds to take?

Also been tested for bv and yeast many times, usually negative yet symptoms continue to persist even after antibiotics usually Macrobid or Keflex. I usually feel better after antibiotics but a week later the symptoms will return.
I discovered about 2 weeks ago my boyfriend had another partner who he swears was clean about 6 weeks ago. We had intercourse(unprotected) prior to me finding out recently. Around the same time my uti symptoms started up again.

I had two courses of an antibiotic called Macrobid (Nitrofurantoin) for a UTI infection just before my SFN symptoms began and the neurologist suspects that this may have caused my condition, which I never had before that. Macrobid (Nitrofurantoin) is a known culprit, but most doctors are clueless.
has anyone taken nitrofurantoin mono/Mac 100mg for a uti? if so what the outcome and was your baby Ok afterwards?
I just had an uti I was 15w and I was prescribed nitrofurantoin. I looked it up, it's commonly given to pregnant woman. I wouldn't take something if it said not to on the bottle. They don't know if it's safe there hasn't been studies done on pregnant women..
It also says that the colony count of the bacteris is 1,00,000 cfu/ml. Hence, doctor prescribed some medicines like Uribid with nitrofurantoin in it, Prothiaden M, Montemac FX for allergy and Hifenac-P for fever and also Cital syrup for UTI. My mother continued the course for one week, now fever and tiredness have decreased, but the burning sensation continues. Is this mixture of tablets fine, or any other suggestion or recommendations for treating this urinary tract infection of K.Oxytoca.
m taking cranberry pills, and I am on nitrofurantoin daily but the stupid things keep on coming back. What else could it be? Is there some other test I should ask for? Thank you.
My lesson learned from Quick-Care is wait for your infection to get really bad before going in to give a lab specimen. Thankfully, based on my symptoms only, they gave me MACROBID (nitrofurantoin.) I didn't feel like it was helping until just after the last pill. But then, 4 days later the symptoms were back again. I have been forcing diet cranberry juice but not getting much sleep, obviously. It is painful to wipe because the tissues are so irritated-I am applying Bacitracin?
DOES MACROBID CAUSE BLEEDING OR MAKE YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE COME EARLY. I JUST FINISHED MACROBID 7 DAY TREATMENT. MY MENSTRUAL CAME 3 DAYS EARLY AND THERE IS BRIGHT RED BLOOD AND USUALLY MY MENSTRUAL BLOOD IS NOT THAT BRIGHT. I INITIIALLY WASNT DUE FOR MY MENSTRUAL UNTIL YESTERDAY I'VE BEEN BLEEDING SINCE THE 3RD AND IM STILL BLEEDING BUT NOT ALOT LIKE I WAS YESTERDAY AND THE DAYS BEFORE BUT THE BLEEDING HAS LIGHTENED.
