Lunesta and other medications

Common Questions and Answers about Lunesta and other medications

lunesta

Avatar n tn I used to take Ambien, and I had great results with it for a short time. But with all medications, it eventually lost it's effectiveness, and I switched to Lunesta. Lunesta was a good alternative for me. I never had nausea with either med., but I have experienced the daytime grogginess with both. It does go away after a while, as you become adjusted to it. Unfortunatly for me, sleep medications only work for a short time. I am a true insomniac, and nothing works for long.
Avatar n tn This drug belongs to the category of non-benzodiazepines, hence like all other medications in this category, on prolonged use it may lead to physical and psychological dependence. If at any time you experience any kind of allergic reaction on taking Lunesta, you should immediately consult your doctor. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I had an allergic reaction to ambien so I can not personally reccomend it. However I loved my lunesta, it worked very fast. Now, just like with pain pills when you take sleeping pills be prepared to go to sleep. They are aiding you not making you go to sleep. It is not anesthesia so don't expect it to work as such. I no longer can afford the lunesta I go to my local VA for my medications and they don't carry lunesta.
Avatar m tn this is just my experience, and I'm not on tx yet...I can't take Lunesta and ambien, ambien makes me feel nutzo the next morning, but many people are fine with it...I take ativan if I have had a lot of sleepless nights in a row, and at a very low dose...I find tranquilizers lull me into sleep, which I prefer...best of luck...
Avatar n tn I never tried remeron, but ambien was horrible and so was resterol the taste of the lunesta that it leaves in your mouth is horrible so there is no easy answer but I did find the ativan did help for a while and I still take it with the lunesta and I agree if I get a good nights sleep the next day is much better.
736314 tn?1276884623 Speak to your psychiatrist about it as that's of concern as its some form of intoxicating effect with the interactions. It may very well go away (I've had it happen with medications and it passed) but they should know. Normally there wouldn't be this problem as unlike Ativan (lorazepam) Buspar does not have a potential for a person to build up a tolerance to it (though it is less effective).
Avatar m tn meaning it is not as addicting as benzos and other sleeping medications like ambien, lunestra, etc. I successfully used seroquel to help me wean off valium.
Avatar f tn There may be hope in the not too distant future, I believe. There is a new drug for sleep issues that one of the large Pharma's will be filing a NDA ( new drug application) with the FDA by the end of this year. This drug is called eplivanserin and does not target the GABAa receptors in the brain like all the benzo's and other hypnotics. I have similar problems and have been following the clinical trials and other news on this drug.
Avatar f tn ) If this is just another of the same in the meek and mild category for insomniacs as Ambien and Lunesta are, it will act like a placebo for me, and therefore please do not recommend it. Thus, the more I hear, the more I know, and the more I know, the less money I will be throwing away regarding having Rozerum filled for naught, in addition to anteing up big bucks to pay for it. Self-pay patients, a monthly (#30) day supply costs $135.00. Three years ago, Ambien cost $3.00 per pill.
Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
Avatar f tn Hey all, so I got tired of not sleeping more than 4hrs a night after being off of Tramadol 42days and my Dr gave me Lunesta. I asked if it was addicting and he said yes but you won't buid up a tolerance to it... I would like to hear this though from someone that has taken this medication and has had to come off it... How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You. Jeffi.
Avatar f tn I stick to the natural remedies for colds and flu to avoid the high alcohol content and sedative properties of cold and flu remedies in the drug store, and some decongestants have stimulants in them that can cause anxiety.
Avatar f tn Please don't do anything without speaking to your psychiatrist. Lamictal is generally a very tolerable mood stabilizer. If you find you can't tolerate it speak to your psychiatrist. There are many viable options listed on the links page. As regarding mood stabilizers if you stop them the moodswings and full symptoms of mania and depression return. As for Ambien if you can't tolerate it you can ask your psychiatrist about changing it.
Avatar f tn Thank you for answering me. I just don't know what to do. Tonight and last night it was xanax and I still can't sleep yet. The night before last it was ambien and before that it was lunesta. it seems like every four five days I start clenching my teeth and grinding my jaw really hard it hurts that I have to go back to the xanax. This is horrible and I am goiing to run out of ambien soon only ahev a few lunesta left, then only xanax about 90 .50 mg. How do i stop this?????
2021910 tn?1339896686 I'm on Ambien every night, otherwise, I would only get 2 hours of sleep a night. The benefits outweigh the risks. My doctor said there is a chance of depending on it to put you to sleep, but when my newborn comes, I'll wean off of it from having to be up with him all night. I even took Ambien with my first son, and he was born picture perfect. Get some rest!
Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
Avatar n tn I am having to take sleeping pills to sleep. I tried Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, and amitriptyline. Each medicine would only let me sleep for four hours a night. So I am taking the Lunesta right now. But it is very hard functioning during the day as I am very fatigued. My body previously was use to getting 8 hours of sleep a day. Do you know of any other medicines that would help with longer sleep? How long does it usually take for the sleep to return on its own?
Avatar f tn When I kept forgetting to take the second dose, he suggested the 30mg X-RAY And it seemed to work extremely well, I was not sleeping at all, had lots of stress and went through a number of different antidepressants, they all pretty much made feel hung over and generally like crap all day. He suggested Lunesta and it seemed to work enough to get atleast 6hrs of sleep and felt well rested the next day.
Avatar n tn Ive been having alot of problem with my health like peeing and pooping just can,When i dose off without lunesta i feeel like my heart is slowing down to a dangerst leval and get a feeling like im getting shocked what is going on here can some one tell me
506273 tn?1260138781 Just got back from the pdoc. He prescribed Pristiq 50 mgs. Says I "can" go as high as 400, but of course we are starting slow. Anyone have any reactions good or bad with this? He did tell me I won't feel anything probably 3-4 weeks, so I'm pretty anxious to get this started. I am also on xanax, seroquel, and he just prescribed Lunesta because I haven't been sleeping and have had no luck with ambien.
Avatar f tn Was told can't get ambien cr due to doc needs insurance authorized? My doc said he had no time to deal with insurance companies and he said that if he did it for me I could only be allowed a 10 days supply and not a month due to use for short term use only. So was given ALPRAZOLAM XANAX for my sleep and insomnia. Was told that in one week if it does not work I will get something different.
1274896 tn?1271218419 It is only in hindsight that I realize how incredibly sick I was. Now, I am down to just 3 medications (Cymbalta, Lunesta, Norco) and am working to make it 2. Equally as important, I am happy. This time last year, I was miserable. Over the past 5 months, since emerging from a very serious depression, I have really found a sense of peace and happiness that I never knew was possible. I believe that is a big part of my physical healing as well.
Avatar m tn depending upon metabolism and times of dose the lunesta and the diazepam may be interacting. With a history of 8 surgeries he may be on too much for pain. Doc Jeff will have real solid advice....... I would think that if the pain is a strong issue with what he is on you need to rethink the game plan. Dont want to medicate him to a coma........but you dont want him in 24/7 pain either. Tough one here..... Do you have any reason to suspect that he was addicted to the pain meds at anytime?
