Avatar n tn In the meantime I do have one question. I don't really feel any swelling in my throat but I keep feeling I have a lump in my throat. Like something is stuck in it and if I touch my throat area I will keep this feeling for hours. Is this thyroid or something else?
Avatar n tn For the longest time, I had a symptom of something stuck in my throat, along with severe irritation and pain at the base of my throat under the adams apple. I was checked for thyroid disease and diagnosed by one doc, with globus hysterias, which is anxiety, causing a feeling of a lump in your throat. After cat scans which showed nothing and other tests, I finally went to a gastroenterologist. I have since had quite a few endoscopies and been diagnosed with GERD and Barretts Esophagus.
Avatar f tn My sore throat went away but the lump is still there. Sometimes I have pain in my throat near the lump but it only lasts a second and then goes away. It's on the right side of my face, nothing on the left. Should I be alarms or does it just sound like swollen lymph node?? Help!!
Avatar f tn I have a very stressful and labor intensive job. The initial complaint was pelvic pain starting in November 2008. Then it went to back pain, and then became full blown anxiety attacks that came with a host of symptoms.( ie, chest pain, dizziness, arm and leg numbness, and lightheadedness). I have been out of work on sick leave since January 2009. As of lately I am not getting much sleep due to the discomfort in my throat. The discomfort started after I choked on water.
Avatar m tn Hi, For the past day or so I have what feels like a lump in my throat. It is worse when eating. Whenever I eat something I will get a pain in my throat that will travel down to my stomach. I also feel like it is hard to swallow food. I went to see my dr about this and she thought it may be my thyroid but tests were negative. I have also had 3 episodes in the past 5 months where I get a pain in my abdomen (right about the naval area) which is always followed by nausea and vomitting.
Avatar f tn Hi, The lump in the thraot feeling can occur in GERD though it can occur in other conditions as well. If it is due to GERD then it will disappear by taking PPI (Prilosec) or H2RA ( Zantac) ================================================================ The information provided is for patients’ education only and is not a medical advice. Avatar n tn I have been experiencing a sensation of a lump in the throat or tightness/pressure in my upper chest in combination with a pain in my back/spine at the same level of the feeling in my chest. This feeling has persisted for about 4 weeks. I don't seem to have diificulty breathing, although I do feel the sensation more when I breathe deeply. Could this be a respiratory problem? Does this sound like anything you've heard of?
Avatar f tn I cough, and feel like I have mucus in my throat after eating. I have an appointment with an ENT in a few weeks. I'm not in any pain, just annoyed that I can't cough or clear this feeling out of my throat. HELP! I noticed that your post is from September - have you received any answers since then?????
Avatar f tn Now after two months of having it, i can feel extreme pain in my throat and in my neck when I move it. It seems now like i swallowed a big ball and it is stuck in my throat. I can't eat from this sensation. Can it be just stress and it's all in my head? Did anyone experience this before? If so, what did you do to relieve it?
Avatar n tn It is as if there is a cotton ball stuck in my throat that I can't swallow. Also, for the past 3 or 4 days, my throat feels a little swollen, but does not look it, and I haven't felt any pain. I told my doctor about this, and he said he thinks it is all caused by my thyroid. I just want to be sure that this is possible for postpartum thyroiditis, and that it couldn't be anything else. I am 7 months postpartum, and I have been feeling this for a week and a half.
Avatar n tn It seems to me it could be an allergy, but when I look at allergy symptoms they say I would have trouble breathing. I do not. I just have a painful lump in my throat, often coupled with nausea and diarrhea. I also feel like my throat tickles a lot of the time. It feels very irritated when I eat bread and toast (I eat whole wheat). I have a rash on my stomach, which could be a bug bite, but might be related if it is an allergy. How would can I identify if I have stress or an allergy?
1265027 tn?1284843551 A few months ago I was having alot of stress and kept feeling like there was a lump in my throat. Felt like there was something in my throat and wouldnt leave. Also felt tight as if i was being choked. about 7 weeks ago i went to the ENT for lymph node issues. He did a rhinoscope (stuck the camera up my nose) and told me i had large tonsils and adenoids. He did an ultrasound of my throat and neck as well. He also did blood. Everything came back normal. the sensation in my throat went away.
357713 tn?1199773985 I had hurt my back about a year ago, and still had a couple of muscle relaxers, when I researched it, a doctor said the way he found out if this was what the tightness in the throat was with his patience was to give them a sample dosage of muscle relaxers, I thought it could not hurt to try. So I did, and it worked though if I aloow myself to get stressed, or statr raising my voice it comed right back, it really helps me. Just thought I'd let you know.
Avatar n tn On Saturday, 1/23 I was eating Chinese food and got choked on a small piece of chicken. While trying to clear my throat food came back up into my throat. For the last 4 days I have felt like I have a "lump in my throat" accompanied by minor upper chest pain. Whenever I swallow it is really an annoying feeling, but it is there all the time.

Avatar m tn Around the same time (about 8 or 9 months ago) i started getting this feeling in my throat like a lump. It's kind of like someone is poking me right below the adams apple in that "dip" i guess you would call it and pushing down. It gets worse when i'm nervous, and is better when i first wake up..and gets worse in the evening. I read it was some sort of spasm and nothing to worry about, so i didn't worry about it. Here's the wierd part, though.
Avatar f tn I too had a lump feeling in my throat and post nasal drip,phlem... I was diagnosed with LPR (silent reflux) I was diagnosed as having allergies at first and i thought i had a lingering cold from the flu. The lump feeling got worse so my primary Dr. sent me to an ENT. That is when i was diagnosed with LPR and given 3 month supply of prilosec. But i never had an endoscopy. The lump feeling went away on its own. But i was feeling lethargic, fatigued.
Avatar n tn Two months ago I started to have symptoms of a lump sensation in my throat with a feeling of mucas in the back of my throat, and short burps. My doctor wanted to start with a nasal spray to see if this were from allergies. I tried the spray, but it really did not help anything. One month ago, I was visiting family, and had horrible stomach pains. The holidays were taking its toll. Thinking it had something to do with reflux due to stomach pain and burping, I tried Prilosec.
Avatar f tn Recently I started getting a cold or an allegy and began with head cold, runny nose (alot of nose blowing) About a day or two into the head cold, I noticed my stomach began to hurt--I have anxiety so this was not uncommon. However when I would drink a sip of coffee or tea I felt a lump in throat--sort of felt like a big burp that would not burst. and then it went away. Until the next time I took a sip of coffee--and after i sipped it and it went down then I felt the lump again.
Avatar n tn i have had this feeling of an obstruction in my throat for the longest time. i have done many test with everything coming back normal. you cannot physically see a lump but it feels like there is one inside my throat.i have difficulty swallowing and pain in the back of my neck. i recently started having hoarseness of my voice and when i chew anything that takes an effort to chew my whole neck and throat feels very tired. i think i am getting depressed over this.
Avatar n tn I am actually not experiencing nearly as many sensations as you describe, mostly just tingling in legs and feet, back pain and lump in throat. The feeling in my face is very mild and probably if I wasn't worrying, I'd barely notice it. I see my neurologist on Thursday and I think that I'm going to push for some more tests, even if I don't get a definitive diagnisos, I'd feel better knowing what was ruled out.
