On a side note, the past few weeks (starting a 2 weeks before noticing this back lump) I have had a sore area in my throat (not a sore throat!, no pain swallowing, but an irregular feeling like a lump or abrasion) WITH what seemed to be salivary gland pain, two (first tender, then hard) lymph glands in neck, and pain/throb in armpit, groin, and femoral region (no noticed lumps except swollen pain in groin while on Augmentin) and ear pain.

My question is what do you think this may be, is the pain in the chest related to the lump feeling in throat and what about the nodules? I know the cat scan and further testing is needed but until I can get insurance or some sort of assistance I would like some sort of direction.

your lump in the throat is probably harmless "globus pharyngeus", in other words, your cricopaharyngeal muscle in your throat is just too tight. Two major reasons for this are reflux and increased stress (and why not both!). More information e.g. homepage.mac.com/changcy/globus.htm. Most voice and swallowing centers tell something about this as it is such a classical symptom of laryngopharyngeal reflux.

Everytime I eat, it feels like there is a lump in my throat. I usually drink fluid right after to wash the food down, but there is a discomfort everytime i swallow. I had an endoscopy done and nothing wrong was found. The doctor said it was due to anxiety. I believe this to be the case, because if i think about the problem while im eating, I can feel my throat muscle begin to tighten, and sometimes it tightens so much that I have induced vomiting! Your sinuses are all interconnected with your ears and throat, and so that may be the cause of the lump in your throat and plugged ears. However, this doesn't explain your frequent night sweats. Have you had any blood work done?

For a two years I've had this charlie hoarse and lump feeling on and off in my throat. Lump much more often. I don't know if the two are related but I'm having a charlie hoarse right now. I find that forcing myself to "burp" significantly minimizes or entirely relieves the charlie hoarse (though I still feel the small lump when I swallow). Hope this helps!

For the past week I have had a tight , lump in the throat feeling. I have the feeling all day. Last Jan I was having stomach problems and had a endoscopy done and was told I just had a irritated stomach. By the end of Feb stomach symptons went away and I felt good. Last week I developed muscle aches, feel weak and tired and have muscle twitches, pins and needles feeling in my feet along with the throat thing. Bloodwork came back fine and I am having a mri on the brain done friday.

My sore throat went away but the lump is still there. Sometimes I have pain in my throat near the lump but it only lasts a second and then goes away. It's on the right side of my face, nothing on the left. Should I be alarms or does it just sound like swollen lymph node?? Help!!

I recently started taking Clonazapam for anxiety, my doctor wanted to see if the lump in my throat was from anxiety or something worse...it disappeared :) but I wonder if the twitches are from that drug (which I do not intend to stay on) or are a sign of something more serious. With yoga classes lately, I started getting aching arms and legs. Seems to coincide, as I started yoga in Jan. and the aches started in Jan. and the twitches began around the same time. Thanks!

s not that painful but before it felt like I had strained a muscle in my neck and the lump itself is quite tender to touch. It isn't massive and certainly not noticeable as you have to actually touch my neck to feel it and there is a size difference between my right and left sides of my neck in terms of swelling.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroid in Feb/08. Since starting on synthroid, I have had a feeling of a "lump" in my throat and also it sometimes gets so bad, it gives me a headache. My blood levels now show "normal' but this problem is getting worse. What could it be? Also, since starting on the synthroid, I am often getting heart fluttering. Is this normal?

I've had this constant lump in my throat feeling for days now. Nothing seems to relieve it. I actually tried to not eat yesterday except some tea, soup and crackers and it didn't go away. I seem to feel terrible for some time after this happens. Lump in throat..ears ringing... very sensitive to light and noise. I an on synthroid since 2007. I have always been a bit anxious in social settings but now is really a aweful. I walk into a store right away I want to leave with all of the lighting.

HR would spike in 200s, elevated BP, SOB, chest pain, tightness in chest and throat, heavy lump in throat, flushing, weakness, tingling and numbness in legs and arms...pratcially every known SVT symptom all at once. EP doctor diagnosed it as left atrial tachy. I am 6 weeks post ablation and feel much better. Ablation seems to be succesfful but dr said there were a few more spots that could give me trouble later down the road.

The lump in the throat feeling is one of the symptoms of acid reflux though no lump is actually found in the throat. since you have difficult in swallowing, I would suggest that you undergo upper GI endoscopy to rule out any organic cause of difficulty in swallowing.
