lumigan

Avatar m tn one of the instructions for using Lumigan or Latisse states not to use on the lower eyelid but it doesn't explain why?
757137 tn?1347196453 Has anyone on this forum used Latisse to grow longer, thicker eyelashes? One of my daughters wants to use it, but doesn't know if it is effective, or whether it can harm the eyes. Your personal experiences using this product would be very much appreciated.
Avatar m tn Lumigan (marketed for eyelashes as Latisse) has only been studied for eyelash growth and about 70% of people do develop longer thicker eyelashes. To my knowledge it has not been studied for scalp or eyebrow growth.
Avatar n tn One of the drops in this family of glaucoma medicines (Lumigan) is sold in a different form (Latisse) by plastic surgeons and dermatologists for eye lash growth.
1775444 tn?1319258310 You need to see an ophthalmologist Eye MD to be sure you do not have eyelid problems (blepharitis, styes, chalazions, etc.) You need to be honest with yourself and ask if you pull or pluck your eyelashes; that is a disorder called trichotilomania. If the answer is you have none of these conditions there is a medication to make eyelashes grow full, thick and long.
Avatar n tn It is not a sign of ocular rosacea, Latisse in its drop from is used to treat glaucoma. Itching and redness are its side effects. Dr. O.
Avatar f tn I have optimalized my condition but so far I still have little eyebrows left.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the feedback. It's been well over 4 weeks (it's now been close to 3 months) and one single hair has grown back. The rest of the area is bare. I've been using FML ointment followed after Latisse as per my derm's instructions but have seen no improvement (except that the rest of my lashes are super long, thick and dark).
Avatar f tn i am really looking for a good medication that helps me end hair loss. can you tell me if lumigan is good or not?
Avatar m tn You will have to ask your Eye MD ophthalmologist whether you have normal tension glaucoma (often a difficult diagnosis to make) or not. I can't tell. Also beta blocker eye drops are not as strong, or as long lasting as lumigan and beta blockers do not work at night whereas lumigan does. If you had side effects on BB before you likely would again. So if lumigan once/day is working well why try something new that likely will not work as well.
Avatar m tn Heart arrhythmia including PVCs is not likely due to Lumigan or the two other medications in that family (Travatan-Z and latanoprost). They are not listed in the drug prescribing literature. I have several thousand patients on these medication and only have one patient in many years that complained of heart beat problems HOWEVER when we changed to a different type of medication (different class of glaucoma medications at present there are 4 classes) the problem stopped.
Avatar f tn Yes, accommodative spasm or dry eyes or some type of keratitis or cataract or retinal problems could all be possible explanations. Go ahead and see a general ophthalmologist for starters and carefully explain your symptoms and bring your glasses and medical records with you. A neuro-ophthalmologist is probably not needed yet, just a good, thorough, second opinion.
Avatar n tn I have pseudo-exfoliation in left eye. Started out on xalatan, then switched over to Lumigan when I was Glaucoma Suspect with ocular pressure 21-30. Under control low 20's on Lumigan, optic nerve healthy, no visual fields defects on test 5 months ago. However, last visit hemorrhage on optic nerve found and added Alpgagan P to Lumigan, did not do a thing after 6 weeks, pressure 24 today. Dr.
Avatar n tn m now 29, female, nothing is helping. my current diagnosis is ocular allergies or rosacea. i have no skin symptoms, but have noticed a red nose. anyway, all of the doctors say there are no signs of blepharitis. I am on a tetracycline antibiotic for acne - for several years. my biggest concern is my dry eyes and eyelash loss. my eye doctor says he cannot help me with the eyelash loss.
Avatar f tn The makers of Lumigan recently started to market the very same drops under the name Latisse for eyelash growth. I understand that they also looked into using it as a treatment for baldness but its too expensive to cover a large area like the scalp. I am very disappointed at postings that indicate people feel their surgeons are pressuring them to upgrade to a multifocal IOL.
Avatar n tn If you still see a retina specialist and glaucoma specilist ask them about Lumigan. Not only does it irritate the eye but many ophthalmologist, myself included, do not use it in patients with uveitis or macular edema. Do you see a neurologist? If you have so called "benign intracranial hypertension" or "pseudotumor cerebri" you generally need a lumbar puncture to measure cerebral spinal pressure to confirm the diagnosis.
12845664 tn?1427483649 I am using Lumigan (bimatoprost) 0.01% nightly. Cost under my Medicare coverage is pretty high (deductible plus copay). Bimatoprost 0.03% is now available as a generic. What potential problems am I inviting by asking my ophthalmologist to switch prescriptions and start using the 0.03%?
Avatar n tn Hello Dr Hagen Is there any difference between generic latanoprost and Xalatan? Are the inactive ingredients the same? Are there any differences in quality or effectiveness? I've read of people reacting to the generic (red, stinging eyes, darkening around the eyes), but being fine with the brand name. Also, is it worth requesting the preservative-free version, Zioptan? I want to minimise side effects.
Avatar n tn Azopt is a great medicine but sometimes expensive. Lumigan I really dislike because it causes red, inflammed, irritated eye, permanent dark circles around the eyelids and orbital fat atrophy with sunken in eyes and droopy lids way too often. Travatan-A is much better, longer acting, lowers IOP more and doesn't cause near the side effects of Lumigan.
Avatar m tn Azopt rare makes eyes red, lumigan is a failrly common cause of chronic red eyes. You might discuss stopping the lumigan for a week or two to see if that helps. If it does Travatan-Z is gentler on the eye and often better at lower IOP, also there is a new preservative free prostaglandin glaucoma eyedrop Zioptrin which might be helpful. I have a very large glaucoma practice and when patients have chronic red eyes and they are on alphagan P or Lumigan I suspect them as the cause first thing.
Avatar f tn I took lots of Meclizine in the past for motion sickness and insomia and I also used Latisse for the eyelash growth. Last use on Meclizine is about 4 weeks ago. Last use on Latisse is a few months ago. Can these two cause this kind of dryness on my eyes? 3 dizziness attacks I had one time started with a glaze on the sun when I stepped out of a room. The last two happened when I diced onion and the onion made me cry. Is the dry eye causing my dizziness and what can I do? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I was put on Metoprolol in April 2012 b/c of MAT. By mid-July, I was shedding massive amounts of hair and losing lashes and thinning brows. MD agreed that it was b/c of the beta blocker, so I was weaned from it by Aug.31. I was told the hair shedding would continue for up to a year b/c of TE. Well, by last fall (2013), the shedding hadn't stopped, so I was put through a battery of blood tests in September.
Avatar m tn what is latisse used for? has any one heard of it? i know its for eyes but what does it do?
