422425 tn?1307992990 I have large amounts of blood and protein in my urine and my kidney functions are decreased and have been for about 4 years already. I am scheduled with a kidney dr in a few weeks. Because it has been a year I am getting a little concerned. My DR doesn't have a lot of answers for me. I have had Lupus for 6 years now, so I was thinking maybe it is somehow related. Any information would be very helpful, and it would calm my nerves.
Avatar f tn Are you certain with UA and cultures that they have always been infection? I have interstitial cystitis (IC) which can flare and feel like infection, and I can even feel what seems like pain in kidney area but the UAs and cultures come back negative. Endometriosis in the bladder can also cause UTI like symptoms.

It is caused by glomerular diseases, chronic interstitial nephritis, adult polycystic kidney disease, etc. No matter what the original cause is, renal parenchymal diseases are characterized by scarring of the kidneys and renal fibrosis. There are many factors that can cause renal parenchymal damages such as infections, toxins (including some renal toxicity medicines), abuse or improper intake of drugs, etc.
Avatar n tn I was taking Linzess and it didn't work and they offer a refund as long as you have your receipt and tell them why, etc.? Do you know if the manufacturer who makes Lubiprostone offers a refund if it doesn't work?

Avatar f tn They cleaned him up and gave me some kayopectate stuff (spelling?) and another med. They ran some tests (like lukemia and stuff) and he was fine. She said he seems to be healthy otherwise besides the stomach thing. They gave me some science diet to give him for a few days in hopes it helped (wet food). He seemed fine for awhile and now his stool is harder than it ever was but he is throwing up again here and there. I think it is the food...but what kind of food can I get to see if it helps?

329994 tn?1301663248 Last summer I had intestinal surgery (a foot of small instestine removed) and it has just gotten worse over time.I eat very little and get bloated immediately. Have not gone to the bathroom on my own for 2 years. I went online and did not like the side effects of this medication or the reports written by real people. I am hoping that someone on here has taken it and can tell me what they think. I am mostly concerned about the side effects of chest pain and shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn Heart, blood and Xray all came back normal. Some blood and cloudiness in urine. The vet mentioned FLUTD and I could see a specialist if I wanted. Cultures weren't done. I thought he'd be over it by now and he is still listless and this morning he had trouble getting up the last two stairs from the basement. It is like he is dead inside..he lost his spark. I can't think of any major stress going on, or not any more than usual in the last 12 years of his life.

422425 tn?1307992990 Yes I have kidney damage called interstitial nephritis, and also kidney deficiancy from a flare about 4 years ago. I am chonic stage 3. Hopefully that is as far as it will go. I have serious digestive issues also. God is good to keep me going. I talk to him A LOT! So far I am still here, even after a couple of times when I wondered if I would be. I'm sure all of us lupies have been there before. Again thank you....and welcome as our new community leader!
Avatar m tn His values now are at a creatinine of 2.1 and BUN of 115. Energy and will has increased, but he is still not eating on his own and has diarrhea. Has anyone ever heard of the creatinine lowering and the BUN remaining high? Any idea how we can get the BUN down or what may causing it to remain elevated? Our vet is unsure as well.
Avatar m tn A 64-year-old male presenting with rising creatinine, nephrotic syndrome and monoarthritis few months after a tick bite was noted to have mixed cryoglobulinaemia, a positive borrelia western blot and ‘full-house’ pattern MPGN with interstitial granuloma. Findings resolved with prednisolone and doxycyclin therapy. The histology is consistent with MPGN secondary to cryoglobulinaemia, which has most likely been caused by borrelia infection.
Avatar f tn IC also shows a distinct hypersensitivity to foods and fluids that irritate the bladder like caffeine, alcohol, and acidic fruits and beverages. Symptoms of IC can flare up, and resolve spontaneously. If you have a flare up of symptoms, and a urine culture is negative for infection, you may have IC. You need to see a Urologist or Gynecologist who specializes in pelvic pain for a correct diagnosis and treatment. Go to the website of the Interstitial Cystitis Association: "ichelp.

Avatar m tn Other defects of tubular function, such as tubular acidosis and salt-losing nephritis, may also occur. The continuing and unchecked deposition of calcium eventually leads to chronic renal insufficiency. Nephrocalcinosis may be complicated by renal stone formation, which adds another element to the causation of renal insufficiency secondary to an obstructive uropathy.

Avatar f tn Hi - I was recently diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. I also have Sjogren's, fibromyalgia, and a variant on the MEFV gene. My doctor prescribed Elmiron which I just started. Is there a connection between interstitial cystitis and Sjogren's, fibromyalgia, or the inflammatory response from the genetic variant? I'm wondering if there are other treatment options besides the medication that will also address the other issues.
Avatar n tn I have had good luck with ice packs and/or hot compresses. I have been diagnosed with interstitial cystitus and irritable bowel characterized by chronic constipation. My gastroenterologist believe this symptom is bowel related...I have never discussed it with my urologist, but as suggested by helstrom I will! corndog, a urologist diagnoses and treats interstitial cystitis. IC is chronic inflammation of the bladder lining.
