Avatar f tn I have always had to struggle with my weight. I gain weight easily and have a difficult time losing it, even when eating properly and exercising. This of course, has become worse, the older I get. But I have never gained weight as rapidly as I have the last 2 1/2 months!
317787 tn?1473358451 And usually estrogen dominance is really more of a case of low Progesterone. Estrogen dominance from what I understand can more frequently happen as approaching or post menopause. With her age of about 50 she would definately be in the zone nearing menopause. As barb stated. It may make sense to have all her sex hormones tested to see about the balance of progesterone and Estrogen as well as testosterone. Just something to consider.
Avatar n tn I have lowered TSH and VERY low estrogen, prgesterone, FSH, LH and PRL. I don;t have PCOS but the endo wanted to put me on metformin. Have you had any luck with your diagmosis? Im at my wits end Im even seeing a chinese healer tomorrow.
Avatar f tn Acording to all of the research I have read as of late (and experienced, I am glad to say) Estrogen cannot make you gain weight.. now, having said that, you do not want an excess in your system. Read Vliet's work... you will be happy you did. It is apparently the lack of estrogen that makes you gain. And, don't forget the testosterone... read her work on that, too, so that you are getting the right dose. She says most practitioners give too much...
Avatar f tn High levels of estrogen cause unexplained weight gain and feeling fatigued or lethargic. Low thyroid hormone is a consideration since there is family history of thyroid disease but high estrogen is a more likely cause in my opinion. A good article on high estrogen is "High Estrogen Overload Symptoms. Dangers Every Woman Should Be Aware Of" from the Healthy You Naturally website. An excerpt....
Avatar f tn Why would you be given estrogen with elevated estrogen? My reasons for weight gain/difficulty losing weight were severe insulin resistance and untreated hypothyroidism. My hip to waist ratio was 0.96 due to insulin resistance.
138239 tn?1239924924 my blood work showed my DHEA 78 & normal is between 102-1185, when asked doctor about this she didn't know why, thought there was a supplement for this. Asked Endocrinologist, he said it was nothing to be concerned about. So, whats up???? I've been battling weight gain for the past 3 years. Feel that there is really something wrong with my adrenal glands.they have tested me for Cushings (negative), scooped me from 1 end and the other.
135864 tn?1221078029 Blood tests show im on the low-side...But I am completely unable to gain weight and I eat alot of food. What is going on with me. I had estrogen dominance and I get inflamation at certain times....
Avatar f tn As I've mentioned in my previous post, I have the strong feeling that I have a hormone imbalance. For 3 years, I've been overemotional/irritable/nervous, have had light/skipped periods, persistent acne,(I'm 20 and I don't feel like this should be happening), and hot flashes. These problems have gotten progressively worse over the years. The problem is though, that I feel like I have the symptoms of both estrogen dominance and estrogen deficiency.
Avatar n tn Also from my doctor, I learned that one can be both estrogen deficient and estrogen dominant at the same time if progesterone and estrogen are low, and due to our exposure to estrogens & phyto estrogens in environment and foods. So alot of balancing is required and diary your symptoms for your doctor, and balancing your doses of the creams based on your symptoms, always start low and work up, also know that with estrogen, the symptoms of too much and not enough, are the same.
Avatar f tn I say this because it typically is the Lack of Estrogen that will cause weight gain and not the abundance. On the other hand, since you are also taking progesterone, you may have been out of balance between the two hormones. My other thought is that you may be the type of person who does really well on progesterone without added Estrogen, although the more I research recent studies on this, those people are few and far between.
Avatar n tn Zeligs, MD As we age, many tissues in our bodies become chronically inflamed, resulting in an increased risk of weight gain, diabetes, and cancer. By aiding healthy hormone metabolism and assisting the body to recognize and eliminate stressed cells, we can reduce generalized inflammation and slow the progress of aging-related disorders.
Avatar f tn Does everyone gain weight with Hashimotos and hypothyroid. It is so depressing. I am thinking on going on WW or Nutrisystem, but will I lose weight if my thyroid is still screwed up? I have low motility too when it comes to digestion too. Took the sitz test and an average person can poop out the beads in 2 days and it took 7 for me. What have other done? I am frustrated!
Avatar f tn so can anybody tell me if it is common to gain weight after hysterectomy or is that just depending on the medicine you're given for hormones
Avatar f tn Can a normal sized cyst on one overy cause a distended stomach and weight gain?
Avatar m tn You might try OTC meds for menopause first or go back and see your GYN and as for low dose estrogen.
1214315 tn?1266336553 I got the IUD 8 months ago and YES it can make you gain weight if it is the Merina one. It is the estrogen in it that makes you gain weight. I gained 25 lbs after I got and I work out 5 times a week, so I know it's not lack of exercise. I just recently got it taken out and I have already dropped 5lbs. I had another friend that had it for 2 years and she gained weight on it as well. She got hers taken out 2 months ago and has dropped 15lbs.
1416408 tn?1282230588 Some people do gain weight, while others do not. If you find yourself gaining weight, bring it to the doctors attention as there are a variety of pills to choose from. But not taking it, will cause a big weight gain and a permanent change in your future plans.
Avatar f tn I think you need to go back to the dr's asap and have full blood tests. Why were you advised to have a full hysterectomy, what was found that made a hysterectomy necessary ? Did you have any follow up treatment or tests after the hysterectomy?
Avatar n tn I was very heavy growing up and so I was a bit devastated by this uncontrollable weight gain, but I was eventually able to get a handle on things. I also had to have my thyroid evaluated and have been helped with thyroid meds over the past four years. I knew I probably could not answer your question directly, but wanted to give you some things to think about. There are some very good resources. I think the author's name who speaks to midlife weight gain is Deb Waterhouse???
Avatar f tn 2 years ago I started a birth control pill called Yasmin and was on it for 2 years. During this time I was on and off it as it gave me alot of symptoms which included being very emotional, weight gain, low libido and more. These symptoms didn't exist when I started Yasmin, not until probably 6 months in, is when I started noticing that my body wasn't liking it. So I stopped it completely last year around August.
Avatar f tn You should be able to lose the weight easier. I was in the same boat! I was running up to 8 miles a day and and eating low carbs and low calories/high protein. Could barely lose 1 lb a week. Then I would gain it back! I have always been fit. I went to my annual checkup and they recommended a bunch of tests b/c I had to go pee a lot and my stomach was swollen. Turns out I had a HUGE dermoid on one ovary and then during the surgery they found another pranged sized one on my other ovary.
1638247 tn?1300467050 I've always been heavier than everyone else, even though I ate less and exercised more. But from the age of eight onward, I began gaining a lot of weight for no reason. No matter how little I eat or rigorously I work out, my body won't respond to diet or exercise. At one point, I was living on 200 cals a day while strength training and arobics morning, noon, and night.
1675455 tn?1328478107 Here is the question... Is it true that you can gain weight from the Depo shot? My friend was on it and gained 30lbs. I have gained about 48lbs because my craving and stuff are intense.. Has anyone had this problem. I want to go back on the pill.. But I love the fact with the shot that I dont' bleed at all and don't have to worry about the mess, moodiness, and CRAMPS! I need to do things one at a time.
