Avatar n tn Were any other androgen levels tests - LH, FSH, dhea sulfate, any testosterone levels, or SHBH? Estrogen and testosterone are related and estrogen comes from multiple sources.
Avatar n tn Here is a website of what hormones levels should be at certain times of your cycle. http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hormonelevels.html For your thyroid you should have FreeT4 and FreeT3 tested instead of totals. Are you having any symptoms of low estrogen i.e. hot flashes, sleep disturbances, moodiness, hair loss, etc.? My reproductive endo says I am low in estrogen (I am 32) so I am contemplating some sort of hormone replacement therapy (Vivelle-dot and prometrium).
Avatar n tn It turned out that I had not ovulated those months which was part of the cause of my infertility. So yes a low FSH level is good but if the estrogen is high, it could mean you didn't ovulate and you have a leftover active follicle producing estrogen. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I also do not have ovaries but I take estrogen. When my estrogen level gets rather high, my FSH is low (in the range of a menstruating woman). When my estrogen is on the lower side, my FSH rises.
Avatar f tn Your estrogen is a little low. I think the normal range is 25-75. However, your FSH is great, and that's usually the one they monitor for ovarian reserve and quality. I'm honestly not sure if a lower than normal estrogen level on day 3 is a big deal or not...but I believe lower is definitely better than higher at that stage. Did your doctor say anything about your results? And will they be doing a repeat blood draw to check if your levels change?

138239 tn?1239924924 It can be low for many reasons - but were any other androgen tests done as well that were off like estrogen or testosterone? If you take DHEA, you will likely raise those levels. It can have unwanted side effects in that case. Was LH or FSH tested? Any other adrenal hormones like renin, aldosterone, cortisol, ACTH tested? How were you tested for Cushing's? Did they at least follow the guidelines and test you three times? I had Cushing's - it can be very difficult to diagnose.
Avatar n tn Hi. I'm new to this post & am not even sure if this is the right place to post, if not I am sorry but any help is appreciated. I'll try to ask all the questions I have at once. Hopefully it won't be too confusing. FIRST: I AM NOT ON ANY HRT YET!! #1: I'm 42 yrs old. 1.5 yrs. ago began "menopause" with FSH levels at 56.5. In January '07 had "period", went to gyno, got checked out, took another FSH & it came back 8.5.
Avatar f tn Then I had another in October with heavy mucous and signs of ovulation. I was tested on day 3 and my estrogen was normal but my FSH was 120. My doctor said she didn't know what to make of that. I have continued to have very normal and very heavy periods every 28 days since, I was tested again in December, again on day 3 and my estrogen was normal, my FSH was 26. However my TSH was 11. I am now wondering if it is my thyroid that is messed up and the cause of my menopausal symptoms?
Avatar f tn docsaf--you mentioned your estrogen was low. What is considered low? Is estrodial the same as estrogen? My day-3 estrodial dropped from 62 in Dec to 25 in April and 23 in May. My dr said it was "fine," that he wanted the day 3 estrodial to be low and he didn't know why it would have dropped (my first test was w/ another RE). But it seems strange to me. Was it your day 3 levels that were low or a different level?
1050589 tn?1253752185 My doctor ran blood tests like my FSH levels and all that and found my estrogen was quite low. He told me thats why i havent had a period. My husband and I are TTC so my doc said to try black cohosh to bring on my period. after a month of no luck i stopped the cohosh and gave up. 3 weeks later i started having some spotting, just very light. Took a preg test thinking it might be implantation bleeding and it was neg.
1412752 tn?1282215508 My RE does this test but only with fsh, progesterone, estrogen. Mine was .7. (fsh 5.4, progesterone with meds 34, cant remember what estrogen was) I responded well to meds. and on the first cycle got my bfp. We did meds. only with timed intercourse. I have heard of people with levels as low as .2 and they got pg. fairly easily. Try not to get too discouraged yet, good luck to you.
Avatar f tn You are correct, cyst raise estrogen which suppress FSH. I just had a big cyst, my estrogen was 200 and my fsh was 8 which it is normally around 18. Day 2 or Day 3 is the right time to do FSH. Mine is elevated, most cycles so I know how you feel. Many women get prego with higher FSH than me, so I keep ttc and I hope you do too! You might want to ask your dr about taking progesterone after you ovulate, since you just had a mc.
Avatar m tn Since FSH level is normal, I feel that in your case low testosterone is affecting the sperm production. Testosterone may be low due high estrogen level, which you have not yet measured. Some aromatise inhibitor drugs should be able to reduce estrogen and increase testo and in turn may help spermatogenesis. I always felt that in your case reduction of weight should finally solve all problems. You should consult a good fertility clinic and they should be able to find a solution to your problem.
Avatar f tn Hi there, First of all, kelliejane, I am so sorry for your loss and your sense of confusion. I know how frustrating it can be when you don't know what's going on with your own body. Thank you, 30something for your insight. Do you happen to know what the normal ranges are for LH and FSH? I recently had some blood tests done and my LH was at 0.2 and FSH at 1.2. (The tests were taken on day 16 or 17 of my cycle. Incidentally, my estrogen/estradiol was ,15 too.
Avatar n tn You may want to post this question on the thyroid forum. There are many people there that know so much about thyroid problems. Take care.
Avatar n tn I just had my estrogen tested. It was 65. I was told that was good. My FSH is 16. Was told that was slightly elevated. My RE is certain we WILL conceive. We just have to figure out the path. What was your FSH level? Age? I am 40. I got pregnant at 38 without even trying, but miscarried. Can you offer any extra info? Thank you!!!
Avatar f tn I would have your estrogen checked. Your pituitary gland could be slowing your FSH levels. That is what I'm going through. I'm in perimenopause. Estrogen of 16 and FSH is .3. Not 3 but .3.
1047147 tn?1328906154 Is this a temporary estrogen fix as i would call it, will my fsh levels rise again.. The Re says my levels are perfect right now and will proceed with putting me back on lupron and etc....
Avatar n tn t I have low levels of estrogen, but I have endometriosis? Where is the estrogen coming from and can I have high levels of FSH/LH at midcycle when I ovulate? Can cysts produce hormone? After the miscarriage the doctor removed the large cyst from my ovary and told me he found endometriosis. I never knew I had that disease and I don't suffer ANY problems from it unless it is the cause of my cysts and irregular periods???
Avatar f tn Do you think I need drugs like Clomid or Femara, with my normal FSH? I know the idea is to produce multiple eggs with the hope of finding one good egg, but how will these drugs alter my own normal FSH value? Do you think the problem with me is the hormone imbalance, egg quality, or a combination of both? I feel like my doctor is shooting in the dark since we do not know what is wrong with me and since I have that very bad luteal phase defect, too.
