If you were my patient, I would advise you to check with your insurance plan regarding coverage of gastric bypass. In many cases you must be morbidly obese (BMI 40 or higher) or obese(35-40) with other medical problems (diabetes, hypertension, etc) to qualify. I am morbidly obese. My question is:I have a lot of pain (especially when touched) in what seems to be the fatty tissue, especially in the upper legs (thighs) and the upper arms. Well, I do notice one thing -- no fish. The oils you're using are great, but don't have as good a profile as fish oil. Combining them might help at least some. If your hormones remain out of balance, there are natural methods of working on it if it's not an emergency time wise, but that depends on the cause of it. By the way, if you're as tall as you say and you weight what you say, you're not morbidly obese.
I doubt that any doctor would support a weight loss goal of 25 lbs. per month unless you would be morbidly obese. Most of the weight you would lose would be water weight anyway, and it would come back quickly. I recently consulted with a weight loss doctor who prescribed a sensible diet (moderately low carb) and the medication Adipex. That combination was magic for me. The diet resulted in rapid weight loss, and the prescribed medication made it easier for me to follow the diet.
i have been a diabetic for about 8 years and i am what they call morbidly obese i have lost over 50 pounds over the last 3 years and have kept it off but because i fractured my pelvis in a car crash in 88 i can not walk for any distance can not stand for long and i can't even lay on my back without being in pain so most exercising is out. i am on insulin the novolog 70/30 mix i was taking metformin 1000mg twice a day my doctor took me off that a couple weeks ago. i now take 7.
I am very sorry sweetie but your not just overweight, your morbidly obese. My heart is breaking for you. I think the best thing to do is talk with a doctor and dietician to find out how to get you to a healthier weight. At your current weight, you are at risk for many very serious medical problems. Hello, I'm 24 year old female. I recently found out that I have an ovarian cyst the size of 17cm on my left ovary. Doctor said it's most likely that my whole left ovary will have to go. I'm really scared, terrified even, because I'm morbidly obese and I have to have a laparotomy to remove the cyst and I've never had any kind of surgery, ever.

Yes, but then I am morbidly obese too so is hard to tell what is the real reason I can't breathe. I took echocardiagram and do NOT have MVP. I have a slight murmur at the mitral valve but nothing to be worried about. I am a real sick healthy person. LOL!
I have dealt with the obesity prejudices personally, and have gone from morbidly obese to normal to obese, the last because of pain issues, not caused by the weight, as my back was in decent shape when I was at my lowest weight for several years.
Weight can cause problems, or add to them, but it is not the answer to everything that goes wrong with a person. If he just sees your weight, he won't look for any other underlying conditions that might be causing a "weak" spine.
Are you severely overweight and weight loss surgery is the only option for you now? Are you a doctor who works with patients that are morbidly obese and you have a patient that needs this surgery but maybe they cannot afford it or the wait list is so long that you are concerned that they may not have that long to wait?
