Lovenox and liver disease

Common Questions and Answers about Lovenox and liver disease

lovenox

Avatar n tn Sectral, coumadin, or lovenox are associated with elevated liver enzymes. Niasan (Niaspan) and tarka (verapamil) can increased liver enzymes. I really can't advise you on stopping medications, you should talk to your doctors about that one but niacin and verapamil can increase liver enzymes and are worth asking your doctor about. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn All the drugs you mentioned might cause problems only if you are in end stage liver disease and very extensive liver damage is present. Your labs show that this is not the case. Even with extensive liver damage all these drugs still can be used, but the dosages would have to be lowered. Anesthesia and contrast also can be safely used in patients with liver disease. The liver is very resilient and really can take a lot. Wish you the best and hope for a good outcome of your surgery.
Avatar f tn Is it safe to use Lovenox and Ibuprofen at the same time? What kind of side effects should I expect if I do so? (I do not experience any pain). 2. Shall I be concerned about permanent implications (ie to kidney, liver etc) of using blood thinner? 3. After 10 days (when I stop the Lovenox), will I need a blood test? 4. How long would it normally take for such an injury to heal?
Avatar m tn I am sorry but this forum is for discussion of cirrhosis and people's experiences with advanced liver disease. abdominal pain and MVT are not something we are experienced with. I hope you do find help for your husband. If you have questions about his cirrhosis we are happy to share our experiences and knowledge. Best of luck.
Avatar m tn Now I have gotten a surprise BFP and my doc is talking about Lovenox (low dose). Maternal fetal medicine says NO WAY its too risky without having a diagnosed blood clotting disorder, but my OB and RE are willing to put me on it. I'm concerned about the risks (to myself, I know it won't affect the baby). Is it all that risky? Could it help in my situation? I dont know what else to do but really want to have more kids!
Avatar n tn As far as I know lovenox is no reason to perform a c section. If you are unsure, then please ask your Dr. why he/she wants to deliver you this way. Your wishes do count and it's important you feel comfortable and confident in how the actual delivery takes place.
Avatar f tn t argue or comment on your doctors opinion on the necessity of taking it while also on Lovenox and I definitely agree that Lovenox and Folgard are MUCH more important rather then just the aspirin, but if he is of the opinion that they do two different things and you are not taking the aspirin to cover off the missing 12 hours, according to my hematologist, taking only one dose of Lovenox per day wasn't covering me off all day (which is where I obtained the information that it is short lived
Avatar f tn I am currently 25 weeks and have been on Lovenox since week 6. I have a blood clotting problem. I will have a csection at 36 weeks but that is due to other health problems. I will have to have those stupid leg vacuun things while in hospital to keep circulation. I hate those things very loud and you can't move. Plus will have to continue Lovenox for 8 weeks after birth.
1035400 tn?1351541684 I was put on Lovenox after my pulmonary embolisms. The two tests they did for the Lupus Anticoagulants were only 3 weeks apart. They have retested me a dozen or more times since then, and the tests have all been negative. It was explained to me that you have to have two positive test that have been done more than six weeks apart to meet criteria for diagnosis. Just before my mini strokes in August, I had an anticoagulant work up. I had been on Pradaxa rather than the Lovenox for the past year.
Avatar f tn carcinoma, liver disorders, collagen disease, infectious hepatitis, congestive heart failure, jaundice, diarrhea, poor nutritional state, elevated temperature, Vitamin K deficiency. External Factors: alcohol, Coumadin overdosage, anesthetics, prolonged hot weather, prolonged narcotics, unreliable protime blood tests.
287479 tn?1272730364 Turns out I have a bloody clotting disorder. I got pregnant again (and started the Lovenox injections) and everything was going well until last week. I began having spotting. My hcg was increasing, but my progesterone dropped quickly and I lost the baby. My husband and I are giving this one more shot. My doctor wants to start me on Clomid next month, along with one baby aspirin a day and and folic acid until I get pregnant.
Avatar f tn my first pregnancy with this dr. and taking Lovenox for the past 15 days.....Had second sonogram yesterday and saw fetal pole, yolk sac and heartbeat!!! I was so excited, I was on cloud nine all day...until two hours ago when I heard my latest #'s.....already spoke to dr. he said not to worry and go for blood test Mon. He did tell me originally that the minute I think I;m pregnant I should start the Lovenox. I started it when my levels were only42!!! Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn I take extra vitamins for the folic acid and I take daily injections of Lovenox while pregnant, and I swear by it. i hate the shots but Im just about it my third trimester, and I attribute my baby's life to them.
Avatar n tn i found out that i have to get blood thinner shots in my stomach because i have a blood clotting disease called anticardiociphin and i was wanting to know if anyone knew if this would cause the baby to have birthdefects or still born?
162802 tn?1252121259 i spent 6 days in the hospital and was given 5 shots of Lovenox around my belly button. Lovenox is used to prevent blood clots. I immediately got huge bruises and my abdomen began to swell. I was told it was normal and would go away. With each day the swelling increased and the pain increased. I was discharged and kept going to my surgeon and the ER because the swelling kept growing on the right side of my abdomen. in 5 days it was up to 20lbs.
Avatar m tn I advise you to be tested for Antiphospholipid Syndrome. It is an autoimmune disease which results in blood clots. Its a simple blood test and can be treated most simply w the medication Pradaxa (a blood thinner). Before this patients used to have to use Coumadin which only complicated treating the Hypothyroidism as there can be interference.
Avatar n tn I also have the same issue. My IGM first came back borderline and then the 2nd 2 tests were just slightly positive. I don't have any history of miscarriages. I'm on 40mg Lovenox a day and have been spotting brown blood for past 2 weeks. I have heard Lovenox causes bleeding. I don't think I need to be on Lovenox. My Rhemetologist said some docs would think Lovenox is necessary while other docs would think I wouldn't need Lovenox.
Avatar n tn Anyone taking Lovenox? Im 9 weeks and between the lovenox and the prenat vit I feel groggy all the time..just wondering if lovenox makes you feel bad..
1161124 tn?1305374478 My hubby and I are very upset w the IVF doc. because he said that all tests came back good. That's gonna be our first question to him. Why did he hide about this blood test? The OB said that's because it is not severe and the other tests came out good. Whatever, we are very picky now...I can't try again until they say some thing concrete.
Avatar n tn I just had a miscarriage on July 30th and I was 23 1/2 weeks pregnant. I was put on Lovenox and a baby aspirin 2 weeks prior to miscarrying. The Doctor seems to think that when we get pregnant again that I can get on Lovenox and baby aspirin when i'm 7 weeks pregnant and that the pregnancy will be a healthy succuessful one. I'm just wondering has anyone else had a successful pregnancy taking Lovenox? Just really nervous and have alot of questions now.
Avatar f tn I am really trying to see if my sister's condition has anything to do with her being given this shot. Last time she was given it was April 2013, she is currently in the hospital fighting for her life!! So with all the warnings about if you have a liver disease you shouldn't be taking this shot and the doctors are advising her liver isn't functioning and for it to be as far gone as it is, if she had come to hospital a year ago they wouldn't have been able to do anything!!
Avatar f tn I had an ablation last week and am doing well, but am very beat up (low energy, black and blue, sore throat from TEE and polka dot bruises from Lovenox). My question is how long a time period is it usual to be on Lovenox? My doctor has said a full month. From my research, other than pregnant women, for all other conditions it says 2 weeks or less. I can't take coumadin due to a severe reaction to it.
Avatar f tn Autoimmune disorders Sometimes a body’s immune system may begin to attack the liver or bile ducts causing inflammation and scarring which leads to a progressive form of liver disease. Examples of liver diseases believed to be caused by the immune system are primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and autoimmune hepatitis.
Avatar n tn If your report says that your bilirubin is high, then you probably have jaundice (jaundice is the accumulation of bilirubin under the skin) and some type of liver disease that needs further testing and diagnosis. My two cents. Take care and God bless.
Avatar f tn I was going thru a bottle of vodka every 2 to 3 days. I started having discomfort in the liver area with nausea fatigue and dry mouth. Had an lft done all normal. Still felt sick and went to the hospital lft normal except elevated bilirubin ultrasound normal. Had another lft couple of weeks after bilrubin down to 1.3. And another normal ultrasound. I still deal with right quadrant pain fatigue and nausea.
1714226 tn?1308625105 Hi, my name is Patty and I am 29 years old. To say that liver disease runs in my family would be a huge understatement, for my grandmother, aunt, and my father have all died of cirrhosis of the liver. Neither of the 3 were alcoholics either. Since the age of 18, I have had routine checkups and blood work, keeping a close eye on my liver function and health. In January of 2010, I was diagnosed with gallbladder disease and had surgery to remove it.
